It's Sunday evening and I'm going to write my letter tonight so I can go work in extraction early in the morning. They have changed places for us to work and have been remodeling a little room - no one has been able to work for the last three weeks so we're far behind!!! The Woolleys usually come over on Sunday to watch "Murder, She Wrote" with me - they went to Salt Lake to the zoo and called on their way home saying they were running late and felt like they shouldn't come by. I just hung up from talking to them when the doorbell rang and it was my Bishop so it turned out okay!!! I think it's SO neat for the Bishop to come by to see if I needed anything.
Roy & Patrice - thank you SO much for coming to spend part of your vacation with me. I LOVED EVERY MINUTE OF IT - the only thing that is hard is when you leave and the house is too quiet. I wish we would have had better weather for you - especially while you were in Yellowstone!!! I REALLY miss Emily & Timothy ªI listen to their voices on the answering machine when you called after you got home and I don't want to erase it. The Bishop said he thought it was pretty neat for my Arkansas family to come visit.
Thank you too for all the things you did to help me while you were here: Sawing down the three dying pine trees; replacing the taillights in my car; fixing the clock in the VCR; fixing the remote control so it goes up and down the channels without using the numbers; changing the date on my camera, etc., etc. Patrice, thank you for cleaning my refrigerator and putting all the mustards in one jar, etc., etc. It's really funny to live alone - I get used to the way things are whether they work right or not. Having you here was like having Daddy home for a little while and I appreciate it very, very much.
I loved our family get togethers - Memorial Day was very special for me and I appreciate all of you going to the farm and then on to West Canyon. I felt like West Canyon was a bit of a disappointment for all of you because I don't have a clue as to how to get to our property. Maybe sometime we can spend time with the map and plot it out if any of you are interested. When I was your ages, I wasn't the least bit interested in any of that so I do understand.
I loved our family get together at the Weinerts and I wish Roy & Patrice and their children could have been with us. I thought your six foot sandwiches were delicious and such a good idea. I am SO glad my pictures turned out and I wish I had taken more of them.
I loved going to church with Ann, Jean & Patrice - that was so much fun!!! Do you remember the lady in the red dress who stopped to say "hello" as we were going into the restaurant? I saw her at Stake Conference today and she said, "Were those beautiful women you were with your daughters?" - you really are beautiful women. That lady was Anne Hawkins and her husband was made Stake President today.
I went to Saratoga on Friday afternoon for the Arkansas Reunion and just had a wonderful time. Those people are very dear to me and it made me feel SO good as they related special things they remembered about Daddy. Linda Bohn will get her political science degree from BYU in August - I'm SO proud of her. She and her husband, Phil, organized the reunion - they are doing a great job at Saratoga!!! Mike Dortch wasn't there because their entire family went to Portland to see a younger brother graduate from dental school - that's neat too!!! Becky Ewing Jensen was there with her husband and six children - the oldest is 13 - three girls and three boys. Perry and Kay Bohn and their five children were also there - Perry works for a seed company and travels all over the country - they live in Indiana. Sandy Shook and her husband were also there (I can't remember his name). The Hornes youngest daughter, Ruby Rae, was there but she moved from Little Rock when she was 3 years old so you wouldn't remember her - Lorraine Horne is a nurse at LDS hospital (I can't remember her married name either). Brad Horne is a police officer in Layton and also does some farming - I can't remember his wife's name.
President Al Choules was the church authority changing our stake presidency today. He gave a wonderful talk last night. You probably don't remember but he and his first wife were our friends in Phoenix. He presided over the New York Mission just before Daddy presided over the Billings Mission. His wife was diagnosed with breast cancer at the end of their mission and died about a year after they got home. He has since remarried and I wanted to see his new wife but she couldn't come. He told all about Rosemary's death and told it in such a way that I could really relate to and it was beautiful. I shook his hand when he came into the chapel but I really don't believe he knew who I was - those situations are very difficult because so many people want to talk to you.
I have had many phone calls since starting this letter so now it is very late and I will quit.
I love each one of you very much. PLEASE BE VERY CAREFUL IN EVERYTHING YOU DO. Let me know how I can help you.
