Happy February -- I cannot believe how long the month of January was!!! I loved the cold and snowy weather but it just seemed like the month would never end - did it seem long to all of you?

I really do keep busy and I'm SO grateful for such sweet friends and neighbors. I drove over to the cemetery on Saturday afternoon and it was a gloomy day and when I got home, Ellen Mae & Mel followed me into the driveway - it was almost as if they had planned it that way. They are always so upbeat and cute and we had a wonderful visit - I didn't want them to leave but they were on their way home from St. George where they had been for a week - Mel goes there to golf!!! Sunday, yesterday, I got home about noon - my home teachers came at 1 o'clock and stayed until 2:30, then one of my mutual girls came by, then my two little Primary girls came, then one of the mutual leaders came and by then it was 6 o'clock. Ann & Jimmy came soon after that and it wasn't until I was visiting with Ann that I realized I had missed the Michael Jackson show at half time of the Super Bowl.

Ann & Jimmy stayed until about 8 o'clock and then Paula & Mel Pack's daughter came by (I am so embarrassed but I can't remember her name). She had had car trouble and wanted to spend the night. She had her boy friend with her - she had called him to come help her with her car. It's a long story that I won't go into but she needed a car so I loaned her mine. She got home about midnight and when she got up this morning she had such a sad story - her boy friend had ended their relationship. She is a darling girl and she wants so much to get married - she is 24. Earlier in the week she had come with her younger sister to ask me if they could come live with me while they went to school at BYU and UVCC. I told her last night that "my family" didn't want me to have anyone live here. I REALLY don't want to get involved that much in other people's lives right now. I would LOVE to have my own family come here to live if any of you want to but not anyone else!!!

Bob - I hope I didn't goof!!! When Mel Pack came by to pick up his daughter this morning I asked him what had happened to his face - he had a big lump right in the middle of his forehead. He said it was just a "mass" and I said, "You need to have that taken care of - you're too nice looking of a man to have that on your face". And then I said, "My son, Bob, does things like that". Then he asked me how much it would cost and of course I didn't know. If he comes to see you, I am guilty!!! It kinda' reminds me of the time I asked one of our missionaries the same question and told him to go to the doctor and it ended up costing the church quite a lot of money - Daddy was upset with me!!!

Patrice - thank you so much for all those wonderful Christmas pictures.  When I showed them to Ann last night she said, "Patrice is really good at that" and you really are.  I just relived our Family Christmas parties and it was wonderful and I'm so glad to have them for my album.  The ones taken in the Weinert's downstairs are exceptionally good and show how much fun the children had making their sugar lump houses.

John - thank you so much for the pictures taken up at Scofield. It is hard to believe there is that much snow up there - they say that the reservoir has risen two feet already - I guess the water comes up and raises up the ice and they're able to measure it. I'm SO excited for John - he is going to Europe this Wednesday. I don't really know exactly where he's going but he did mention Paris - he'll be gone a week and I hope he gets to see EVERYTHING. John is busy with deadlines just about all the time.

Thank you Jeannie for your phone call the other night. They had a great trip to Florida and it was so cute to hear how they budgeted their money. The went to the space center and loved that and then took advantage of a two day special at Universal Studios. Congratulations to Barji for making the honor roll.

Congratulations also to Susanna and Jessie for their honor roll achievements (Jessie made a 4.0 this time). Jimmy was so cute last night - he had been named "Student of the Week".

How was your trip to Snowbird, Bob & Claire? I'll bet it was nice to get away from the smog that we have had in the valley and I know the skiing must have been wonderful.

I went to my luncheon club last Thursday at Afton Christensen's home. She served homemade beef soup with hot rolls and then pumpkin pie for dessert and it was SO good. It is always fun to be with those sweet ladies.

It is my turn for luncheon club this month and I am SO thrilled because I can seat them all at my dining room table now. My dining room looks like a "showroom" but I love it and I have decided that's all that matters - Ha!!! I have a new teal green sectional in the den and you just won't believe what it has done to that room - it will seat as many as those two big sofas did and looks so much nicer. I was so thrilled with it that I called the drapery lady from ZCMI and she came right out and I have ordered new draperies too. To say I am worried about them is putting it very mildly. It is hard for me to choose something by myself but I didn't want to get anyone else involved in something I couldn't return and would blame them if I didn't like it. I chose a floral that matches the sofa but I'm afraid it won't match anything else in there - the lady had a million samples and I kept coming back to the one I chose. I will be contented with my home and furniture now for at least ten years and then I will be old enough to go into a retirement center - Ha!!! I hope you all like it and "will come for dinner"!!!
