Dearest John; Roy, Patrice, Emily & Timothy; Bob, Claire, Michael, Laura, Brett & Katie; Rick Jean, Ricky, Barbara Jean, Mary Ann & Sarah; and Ron, Ann, Susanna, Jessie, Russell, LeeAnna & Jimmy:

Happy Birthday tomorrow Claire!!! I hope you have a really "Happy Day".

We are having an absolutely gorgeous Wintry day - the sun is out so bright and the snow makes it even brighter. If I were a skier, I would be on the slopes today!!! I walked to my Book of Mormon class this morning - I couldn't go out my backyard because there is still too much snow on the hill and the gate is frozen shut, so I had to walk the "long" way. I can't believe how "out of condition" I am - it isn't very far and when I got home my legs felt like Jell-O!!! I just love that class - 'course this is only my first time!!! I have been listening to the audio tapes of the animated Book of Mormon and I just love them too - they are really made for children and I guess that's why I enjoy them.

I hope the Weinerts had a WONDERFUL time on their trip to Florida. When I came home last Thursday night there was a message on my phone from Sarah. She said, "Grandma B, I won first place in the Reflections contest in my age group and Mary Ann won first place in her age group". Then she told me all about it (I believe they wrote poems). Then she hung up and the second call was from her also and she said, "Oh, Grandma B, we're going to Florida tonight". I thought she was fooling and it was around 10 o'clock but I called them anyway and sure enough they were leaving on the "midnight flight" to go to the Epcot Center and Disneyworld - I believe that's right!!! I thought it was so cute that she was more interested in the reflections contest than she was in going to Florida. I'm really proud of you Sarah and Mary Ann and I want to have a copy of the poems you entered.

The Woolley children have had the flu bug this week. When they were over last Sunday night, LeeAnna wasn't feeling really good and by the time Monday came she wasn't any better so Ann kept her home. Then Jessie got it and they have both been home all week. They were both doing better last night and they didn't have school today so they'll have a chance to stay home again and really get over it. Ron had his appointment with the surgeon about his back problem and he told him it was something that could be fixed but that it wasn't urgent. He told him to do a lot of walking, get a new mattress (they had a water bed) and not do any lifting - that will be hard for Ron.

I loved your darling pictures Emily. Emily drew pictures of a playground with the different playthings on it and Timothy drew a picture of a river. I'm not sure how much input Patrice had into their drawings but I thought it was so typical for them to draw those things - Timothy is probably thinking of fishing with Roy!!

John is really busy at work. I called him one day at work last week and he said, "Mom, I'm really busy".

This week has brought some changes in my life. Some women when they get frustrated will go out and buy a new hat but not me, I went out and bought 10 chairs!!! I decided that one thing I really enjoy doing is to have people in for dinner and it has been so long that I felt comfortable in seating them in my dining room. The room is small, I have had too much furniture in there and then the chairs that came with the table are so wide that I couldn't seat very many. I went to Leather, Oak and Brass and they gave me a good price on some chairs so I bought them.

We have a furniture store here in Orem that has advertised for about six months that they were going out of business so I went to look for a new sofa for the den. They had one that I thought would work and I took measurements and everything. I hated to bother Ann with her sick family but I REALLY wanted her to see it before I bought it. WELL - when she saw it, she said, "Mom, it really doesn't turn me on and it doesn't go with the rest of your house. Let's go to Leather, Oak and Brass". I have a problem in that room because there is only one heating vent in there and I knew that a "sectional" would cover it up. Ann convinced me that I could direct the heat with a reflector and a sectional would fit in there. SO - I am having them deliver a teal green leather one this afternoon C.O.D. and if it doesn't fit I can send it back with them.

I just knew that we would have to knock down a wall to get those two big sofas out of the den. I have measured and measured and the width of the sofas is 37 inches and the door width is 32. I had to go to a Stake Mutual meeting last night so I called Ann to tell them to not come over for Family Home Evening. She asked me what I was going to do about moving the furniture and I said that if Bob came down soon I would see if he & John would try to move it for me. In just a few minutes she called back and said, "John is here right now and he has a friend who is a furniture mover so they'll move it for you tonight". I absolutely couldn't believe it - I went to my meeting and when I came home it was all moved. It looks so much better already without any furniture in it. Ann & Ron came over with their "dolly" to help move it but they said it was all moved by the time they got here. John said they took it out to the porch and lowered it down. I know the young man who helped him - Scott Folsom from Billings - and both of them together could move a house. I REALLY APPRECIATE ALL OF THEM HELPING ME - I will have them for dinner with my new chairs.

I had a fun week last week -I went to the Orem Women's Club meeting and again they had a wonderful meeting - some vocal students from BYU sang some songs from different operas. Then I went to my luncheon club at Afton Christensen's home and it was really nice. Then I went to the Pardoe Theatre at BYU for the play, Mother Hick - the play was strange but the acting was great. I also had a root canal - Ha!!!
