Dearest John; Roy, Patrice, Emily & Timothy; Bob, Claire, Michael, Laura, Brett & Katie; Rick, Jean, Ricky, Barbara Jean, Mary Ann & Sarah; and Ron, Ann, Susanna, Jessie, Russell, LeeAnna & Jimmy:

HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Rick this Friday!!! I hope you have a wonderful day - breakfast in bed, etc., etc.!

I have spent this entire morning with my neighbor, Vonnie. If I ever get to heaven it will be because of the patience I have shown with her. She had me put her story on the computer and it would have been easy if she could have just read it to me but she would read a word and then ask if I thought that was the right word and it went on and on. I was SO thrilled when we finally finished and she had it duplicated and put in a booklet. WELL - she called on Friday and told me she had changed the beginning and added some more to it and wanted me to do it all over again this morning. I thought there would be a few changes but it ended up that I changed a little on every page besides writing a new beginning and ending. I believe there are forth pages in all and this is the third time I have printed it. She is doing this to help the "deficit" - she thinks she will be able to sell many copies. Okay - I have that off my chest!!!

I hope you are all doing good!!! I talk to Annie almost every day and I know they are doing good. I talked to Jeannie for just a few minutes yesterday morning - they had about five minutes to get to church so I didn't talk long. John came in for a few minutes one evening last week and I know he's doing good. He and his friend Eric Merritt have move into a new apartment - all I know is that it's up by the "Ridge" where the Woolleys go swimming. He says it is nice to get away from the college apartments. I believe Bob and Claire have in Washington D. C. this past weekend - they were going for an ear, nose and throat medical convention - Bob called to tell me they were going but I forgot to ask him when.

Roy - I left you to last because I want to say something about you. Chris Jordin called me on Saturday and we must have talked at least an hour and a half - it was WONDERFUL. One of the things she told me was that she had had the lady missionaries over for dinner. She said they had visited with you for a little while in your home and they were SO impressed in how sweet you were to your little girl. I know you are like that but is really pleases me to know that other people know that too. I keep expecting Pres. Bush to use Pres. David O. McKay's favorite saying in his political speeches - "No success in life can compensate for failure in the home".

I am REALLY going to have to hurry to get this in the mail this afternoon. Nelson & Bennie Able just left. I think most of you remember them - Nelson was a friend of Daddy's in the business world and then Daddy got them interested in investing some of their money in Utah. They bought that huge ranch in Walsburg (up by Heber) and they have built a beautiful home up there. They just come probably two or three times a year but they love it. They didn't know about Daddy passing away until a month or so ago and wanted to come see me. Their three sons run their business now and Nelson told me that one of their businesses became as large as Olin. They all live in Monroe, Louisiana - Dixson, their youngest son came to BYU and joined the church and was just released yesterday from the Stake Presidency there. Their sons come to Utah all the time and stay at their ranch so Bennie & Nelson don't come as often. They have a BYU couple living in a home on the ranch to care for it.

I FINALLY got the railing on my porch put on. Two men came this morning and it took them one hour to do the whole thing - I couldn't believe it. I have waited for four months for Steve Frisby to find time to do it. I should never criticize him though - if I had nine children I wouldn't get one fourth the things done that he and his wife do. They are coming on Wednesday to put the carpet in. I think you will really like it - it is so much more open - I LOVE IT!!!

I went to my Family Home Evening night last night - Beth couldn't have it tonight so she had it last night. We really had a good time and she served cream puffs filled with ice cream - yummy!!! I am supposed to go to a Laramie, Wyoming party tonight but I'm not going - too many people would want to know where Daddy is.

We are having gorgeous weather. We had a tremendous wind storm last Friday and broke off a big branch from one of my trees in the back yard. It also broke off MANY branches from the college trees - I was tempted to take my branch over and put with theirs but I knew I could be caught if I did. I cut all the small branches off the large one that I could and put in the garbage and when they come to clean up the college yard I'll ask them if they'll take my big piece too.

My mutual class went really good yesterday but it took my many days to prepare for it. I don't believe I'm willing to put that much time into preparation every week. I had fifteen girls there yesterday and that's a big class. I had a stake visitor and I was so relieved to find that she was a friend of Ann's - Joyce Gardner. She was SO nice to me when she made the association and that helped.

It's fun to talk to Ann about their children's schools. Jimmy didn't even want Ann to go into the classroom with him this year and she could hardly believe it - HE WAS READY FOR SCHOOL. The other children are all happy with their teachers and love school. I'm anxious to hear about all the other children in the family -the Weinert children all changed schools this year and that would really be a challenge - I'll bet they're doing good.
