HAPPY BIRTHDAY TOMORROW BARJI - I hope it's a wonderful day!!!

This has been the craziest day and it's after 4 o'clock and I just realized I hadn't written my letter. I called my eye doctor two months ago and asked for an appointment and said I wanted the very first one in the morning so I wouldn't have to wait so long. I was in his office at 8 o'clock and left at 10:30 and it was just a normal check-up. My mutual class was due at my home at 10 o'clock to do some quilting so I had to call Shawna Theobald to tell her where the key was so she could let them in. They worked while I fixed them a salad for lunch and then they left and I hurried and got ready to go to Chris for a dental appointment - I had him put bonding on two teeth - the gum had receded so much he said I could very easily break them off. I'll start a new paragraph and tell you about his experience.

Chris was to be the main speaker for Father's Day in his ward and he was sitting on the stand. They motioned for him to come off the stand and they took him to the lobby where a woman had had heart failure and had fallen on her face. Her nose was bleeding and they couldn't get a pulse so Chris started CPR. They had called the paramedics but they went to Provo instead of Orem and when they got that call straightened out they went to the wrong chapel so they were 15 minutes in getting there. Chris said he worked on her all that time and finally got a pulse and they rushed her to the hospital. He said they didn't give her any hope for three days and then she started getting better and they expect her to go home this weekend. She is 38 years old and has six little children - isn't that neat???

My life is getting too busy again. My mutual class just loves to come here and make quilts - they have finished one except for the binding and tomorrow I'm going to take them to get more material to make another one. They are making them for the homeless - they have to have 20 hours of service for their Young Woman of Excellence Award. That plus many other projects - ugh!!! I went to a potluck dinner with them last Tuesday evening at the home of our Mutual President and then on Wednesday I went with them to the temple to do baptisms for the dead. They are all just darling girls with such high ideals and ambitions that it is really fun to be with them.

I want to thank Ann, Jean and Claire in this letter. Lucille Webb from Lehi and I have been planning to spend a day together for seven years now and we finally did it last Tuesday. She wanted so much to see where each one of them lived so I imposed on them and asked if we could visit. We left Lehi about 10 in the morning and drove first to see Jeannie, then to see Claire and then to Annie's. She was SO happy to see your homes and they all looked SO nice - THANK YOU VERY, VERY MUCH!!! We went to lunch at the Olive Garden's Restaurant and then here for dessert. I went to lunch with my luncheon club on Thursday - we went to Magelbys and that was fun. We went to one of the member's homes for dessert after lunch and then I came home and got ready to go to a reception for some friends' Golden Wedding Anniversary - you all remember "Gordy" who came to see Daddy almost every single day. Gordy & Helen have been married 50 years - they had the reception at their home and it was SO nice.

Bob called me last Monday - a week ago today and invited John & I to go to dinner. He said he was on his way down. Right after he called, a friend of Daddys from Lehi called and said he wanted to bring his friend over to meet me and discuss buying some of my property over there. I told him I had already discussed that and I didn't want to sell but he said he just knew that when I heard about this man's problem I would change my mind. I told him two of my sons would be home and he could come propose it to them at 7 o'clock. They came and this is the problem: Ron Peck built a house on his acreage right next to my property. They own the lumber business in Lehi and since the economy has taken a downturn he had to sell the house and he also sold some of his property surrounding the house. The man who bought the house has a mortgage on it at 14% interest and Ron Peck has signed it with him. Well he can't refinance the mortgage because the house is only on three acres and he has to have five to make it conform with Utah County Law. He wants to have me sell him those two acres. It would really devalue my property no matter how you look at it. Bob & John were very nice to the men and asked all kinds of questions and then Bob said, "You know, this isn't Mother's problem". They knew he meant it so they excused themselves and left. I feel bad for them but Ron Peck could borrow the $100,000 they need and then rent the house. The man who bought the house hasn't made payments for 9 months.

I am enclosing a copy of a write up that was in our County Journal here about Viewpoint. I am proud of John and all those other young men who are working so hard to make a go of that. I think the new building they are in is just beautiful and with all their "get up and go" it will be very successful in time.

Bob & Claire and their family surprised me last night and dropped in for a little while. They had been in Vernal to visit Dinosaurland and they had camped at Flaming Gorge for the weekend. It was fun to talk to the children - they really had had a good time and still smelled of "campfire". They came to Provo to drop off Michael so he could go to Soccer Camp with Russell and stay with the Woolleys this week. I believe they kinda' traded children - LeeAnna & Jimmy went back with Bob & Claire to play with Laura and Brett.

Patrice - it was SO good to talk to you yesterday and hear that you're all doing fine. I LOVED to hear Emily & Timothy giggling in the background. I'm SO glad Suzie has been with you!!!
