Dearest John; Roy, Patrice, Emily & Timothy; Bob, Claire, Michael, Laura, Brett & Katie; Rick, Jean, Ricky, Barbara Jean, Mary Ann & Sarah; and Ron, Ann, Susanna, Jessie, Russell, LeeAnna & Jimmy: I forgot to date this - June 8, 1992 Orem, Utah

I was down watering my tomato plants when I suddenly realized I hadn't written my letter today - that's unusual for me!!! My vegetable garden is growing and it's exciting - I always get all muddy when I go down there though so I put it off as long as I can.

John doesn't ever read my letters but I'll wish him a happy birthday on Saturday anyway. I wanted to do something special for him so I decided to take lunch to "Viewpoint". Ann helped me and we took two 6 foot sensuous sandwiches, chips, lemonade and cookies over there at noon today. You just wouldn't believe what they have done to that building - they have worked constantly, night and day and it is really nice. It is even more impressive if you had seen it before they started working on it - I really can't believe it. John's office is SO nice and he picked out his own wallpaper and carpet and helped put it up. They have had BIG equipment over there for several weeks - they have closed the original driveway and they bought the lot East of their building and they will lay cement there next week to make a large parking lot. They are also going to put siding on that large garage. They have their "Viewpoint" sign up at the entrance and it is bound to draw lots of attention. I am proud of them - they have really gone out on a limb and I know it is going to be a success with their attitudes and ambition AND talent!!!

My big news for this week is that I sold the van!!! I really appreciate all the help you gave me while you were here Roy. I probably would never have had the windshield fixed and you took care of that and cleaned it all up and put the headrests back on and I hadn't even noticed they were off. You also settled on a price and showed me how to word the ad and it all paid off. A young man from Salt Lake called and said he had been looking for a van like that for months and wanted me to save it for him until he got here. He came with his mother and they were "heaven sent" - they were SO nice!!! His grandfather was Dr. Wintrobe and one of the buildings on the University of Utah Medical Center is named after him - his father is a cardiologist. He wanted to take it into the Larry Miller Toyota garage to have it inspected to see if there was anything wrong with it. He did that on Friday and called me that night and said the people at the garage said it was in "awesome" condition. He wanted to bring me the checks that night but he wanted to watch the basketball game too so I waited up for him and it was after 11 before he got here - then he visited with me and didn't leave until after midnight. I got the title from our filing cabinet and in reading it discovered it had to be notarized so I had to take it clear across town to a notary public about 8 o'clock - I was glad I had noticed that in time. I'm new at this!!!

Roy said I should ask $11,900 for it so that was the price. The young man kept asking me questions about the van that I couldn't answer so I called John at work and he really helped me out. He told the young man that I would probably lower the price enough to have him get new tires for it - I sold it for $11,500 and I just hope that wasn't too much. I don't want him to be disappointed in it after he's had it awhile.

Roy - I also took the Camry in for the 30,000 mile checkup this morning. I appreciate your telling me to do that too. They didn't have to do anything special to it. I am really pleased with that car and it's such a relief to not have to worry about two cars. It was fun to talk to you and Emily on Saturday - I love to hear her say, "I miss you Grandma".

I went to Youth Conference at BYU on Friday and that was a fun time. We had to do so much walking though that I was absolutely exhausted when I got home - we walked from the Deseret Towers to the Joseph Smith Building and back and forth several times. The speakers were outstanding and the girls were all so sweet to me ª I was glad I didn't have to spend the night with them though. Another lady came and took my place.

I haven't talked to the Weinerts or the Bob Mellors this week but I know they're doing fine.

I drove to the cabin yesterday. We had stake conference so I didn't have to stay for church - I left early and it was a beautiful drive. A lot of the men saw me drive in and came to see if they could help me with anything. I just turned that little water switch out at the front of the cabin and everything was just fine. The cabin is in excellent condition but the lake is a mud hole instead of a lake. They think they will have to pump even more water from it for use in Price before the Summer is over. Byrd Gordon, our neighbor up there, told me he had grown up in that area and has never seen the lake that low. He has been up there since April 15th and has fixed his home there very nice with new carpet and new furniture. I told them they could dispose of our "outhouse" - they will carry it off and burn it and then fill the hole with dirt. I will be very happy to have that gone - it is SO ugly!!!

Scofield will celebrate 100 years this July 4th - they are planning a parade and all kinds of food bazaars. Byrd is in charge of a hayride to Winter Quarters where the miners wintered - he is also going to put up displays in that old school house. It would be fun to drive up for the day and I might do it.

I believe that's all the news. I love each one of you very much. Let me know how I can help you and PLEASE BE VERY CAREFUL IN EVERYTHING YOU DO.
