HAPPY 40th BIRTHDAY JEANNIE last week!!! Sorry about that - if you looked 40, I wouldn't dare start my letter like that but you look more like 30!!!
I started to write this letter three hours ago. Two sets of neighbors have come in to visit - Sherrie Savage and her mother, Bernell Hansen, brought a delicious cake and a beautiful arrangement of green foliage in a brass pot. I just love both of them and we had a wonderful visit - Bernell and her husband have just moved to Ephraim - they restored her family home there that is 125 years old. They used to live close by us. I can't tell if they're happy in Ephraim or not - we pass their home on our way to Manti and it is just gorgeous but as she says, "it is still an old home".
They left and Flo Beth Keller came by to visit - she and her husband, Roger, came to the viewing in Lehi and were the very last ones to leave. They're special people - he's the one who has his PhD from Duke in theology and was a Presbyterian minister for a long time. He was a Mormon first and asked to be excommunicated and went on in his ministry for a long time and then re-joined the church and now he teaches at the Y. He was Daddy's counselor in the High Priest Quorum here for awhile and they kinda' thought alike.
I'm glad I don't have a funeral to go to today. Bob and Claire came down last Monday evening and went to Uncle Winston's viewing with me. It was beautiful and I'm so glad they came because otherwise I wouldn't have gone - Ron had to go into Salt Lake to be with his attorney. After the viewing they took me to the "Carousel" and we had banana splits that were heavenly. Everyone was so happy to meet and visit with Claire and she said she was glad to finally become better acquainted with some of Bob's cousins.
Jeannie came down on Tuesday morning and we had such wonderful plans to go out to eat and shop after Uncle Winston's funeral but it was SO long we didn't get to do anything but hurry and eat a chimichango and then we went to the cemetery and put some daffodils on Daddy's grave. His funeral was just beautiful - they had many people there. He was buried in the Orem cemetery and that is out by Word Perfect.
I went to see Ramona on Saturday morning and she is doing fine. She had Mell's daughter and her husband and little 9 month old baby boy with her so she wasn't lonely. I talked to Elaine this morning and she said she thought Ramona was actually doing better. I know her health isn't very good but she will take good care of herself - she said she was going to hire someone to come in to care for her home and her home is very small!!! The first thing people say to me is "Are you going to keep your home".
Patrice - we don't have even ONE bug!!! We had them come spray last week and they really got them all. I told them to spray on the bricks of the house because the bugs hide between the bricks so now you should see my windows - I believe I'll wait a little while before I clean them though, because it's the rainy and windy season and they just get dirty again.
There is still a lot of paper work to be done but it's getting smaller. I filled out the form to have a Government marker made for Daddy and I had to take it to the cemetery to have it signed. The man over there is so nice - they have put the grass back on and the grace looks nice. John & I went over yesterday to put an Easter lily on it and John says he things we should plant a tree. The insurance man from Prudential was really nice and came right touch with National Service Life Insurance - I have called them but I don't think I get the right people. Roy is going to try to find out about the insurance Daddy had with Olin - I can't find any kind of policy and I believe it's insurance the company took out on Daddy as part of his salary.
John & I took part in the Relief Society Easter program yesterday. John took the part of the Savior and was dressed in Daddy's white temple coat and his other white clothes - he did a WONDERFUL job. After church John took me to the cemetery - then we came home and he balanced my checkbook that hadn't been balanced for three months.
Jeannie & Rick and their family came last evening and watched "Murder She Wrote" with us. It was SO fun to have them here and little Wicket was beside himself with joy - he has missed his Woolley family. They didn't get here until about 5:30 and left right after the television program - I tried to discourage them from driving so far but they were really sweet and came anyway.
Ann & the children will be home from Mexico sometime today. Ron didn't get to go be with them until Friday evening because of his trial and then he had to leave to go to New York on Sunday so Ann has had a vacation (?) all by herself. It will be fun to hear all about it. I called her down there one evening and she said they were having a lot of fun but she didn't dare take the children to the beach because she had lost Russell one time when they were there. We have "tended" Wicket and he is a darling little dog - Hans & Frauie like him but he doesn't like them!!!
John is going to move back into the Jamestown Apartments sometime this Summer. I don't blame him and I'll bet I will see almost as much of him when he does as I do now. He's a GREAT GUY!!!
