Dearest John; Roy, Patrice, Emily & Timothy; Bob, Claire, Michael, Laura, Brett & Katie; Rick, Jean, Ricky, Barbara Jean, Mary Ann & Sarah; and Ron, Ann, Susanna, Jessie, Russell, LeeAnna & Jimmy:

It's raining today and THAT'S GOOD!!! We really need the moisture and this means there is snow for the ski slopes. I wish it would snow more here but I'll take the rain for now.

I didn't get my letter written yesterday. Yesterday was a "doozy of a day"!!! Some of you remember Walt & Julie Rogers, our friends in Phoenix. They called on Saturday and said they would like to come see us Monday afternoon. Well - it was our turn to have Family Home Evening Monday evening and I had already made the cheese cake and toppings for it but I wanted to "run through" the house before they came. I got up early and put on my old cleaning clothes and the phone rang - one of our neighbors wanted to come visit for a little while because I am a friend of her mothers and she was leaving town. I told them it was a busy day and the Rogers were coming in the afternoon so they said they would come right over. I didn't change clothes and hardly even combed my hair and Daddy hurried to get dressed too. We were visiting with them when the Rogers called and said they had to leave to go home to Phoenix early so they would like to come right over. I couldn't leave our other friends to get cleaned up so they caught me in a mess!!!

Walt Rogers was our Bishop when Bob drank the gasoline - he beat the doctor to the hospital and told us as soon as he gave Bob a blessing that he would live to go on a mission even though all the doctors thought otherwise. So they are very special to us. The first thing they asked was, "How is Bob"??? We just had a wonderful visit and they even enjoyed visiting with our neighbor friends because they found out they have mutual friends in Elko, Nevada where this woman lives. We found out lots of news of our friends in Phoenix and it was just a wonderful morning. Julie looks just the same - Walt has gained some weight but he looks much the same too. We haven't seen them in 30 years!!! They were here to go to Salt Lake for the blessing of Marta's grandson - can you believe Marta has a grandson???

It was about 1 o'clock when they left and I hurried to get the beds made and vacuum a little when Ray came from Lehi. I just left him to visit with Daddy. Ray left and here came Ramona & Winston. In the meantime, Ellen Mae called from Salt Lake and I just told her we had company and couldn't talk - I felt bad about that. It was 5:30 by the time everyone left and Daddy was tired and I had to get things ready for our company. They got here at 7 o'clock and Daddy visited with them for a little while and then he came upstairs and went to bed. We showed the video of our Family Worship Service to our friends because when it was on television they were all in church. John helped me serve!!!

I wish I could tell you that Daddy is doing good. He just plain isn't!!! He can't eat and doesn't drink enough either. I just don't know what to do - I believe the best thing would be to get that home care I.V. I worry that he will get so dehydrated that he will have to be hospitalized and I don't want that if we can avoid it. Our neighbors and friends are absolutely wonderful to us and we really appreciate that!!! They asked me to give a little talk in our Relief Society on Sunday morning - I felt like I needed to do it because I haven't even been there since before Christmas. I told them we did not want their sympathy because we were at peace and doing fine with our family helping us - I probably hurt some feelings. When we were in the cancer clinic last week a couple wheeled their 13 year old son in for his chemotherapy treatment and he had had one leg amputated. His father visited with Daddy and told him they had taken him to the Jazz game the week before and Karl Malone had given him an autographed basketball - basketball had been his love. Now they have our sympathy!!!

WE REALLY APPRECIATED the visit of the Bob Mellor family and the Woolley family on Sunday evening - WHAT A LIFT THAT GIVES US!!! Ann had come over on Sunday morning to visit with Daddy and I was SO happy because then I felt like I could stay to Relief Society. She & John were here to help Daddy "entertain" the Deacon's Quorum who had come over to talk to Daddy about their fishing trip over the weekend and to bring him some fish. He really enjoyed that and their leader told me that was the best Priesthood meeting they had had all year.

When the Mellors came on Sunday they took their children up to the Woolleys and Claire stayed with them for a little while and Bob came to visit with Daddy and that was JUST WONDERFUL. Then they all came over for a little while and that was JUST WONDERFUL TOO. The most important thing in Daddy's life right now is his family - he loves each one of you more than you will ever know.

Chris & Wayne sent a "fish" package air express. It was so sweet of them but Daddy has had a very difficult time getting even ONE oyster down and you know how much he loves raw oysters. They also sent purple hulled peas and some trout throats that are delicious deep fried - I froze them and hopefully Daddy will get feeling better and then I'll fix them.

Do you all remember that large home that is built right next to our 26 acre piece of land in Lehi? The people who own it want to refinance their mortgage but they don't qualify because of some building code over there that requires them to have three more acres of land. They want us to sell them the three acres next to their home - it would include the frontage and also that cement canal. I really don't want to sell - I don't want to be mean either. Daddy & I are going over now to look at it again and see what it would involve.

Roy & Jeannie - thank you so very much for your phone calls - Timothy is walking - great - we're anxious for your visit!!!
