Dearest John; Roy, Patrice, Emily & Timothy; Bob, Claire, Michael, Laura, Brett & Katie; Rick, Jean, Ricky, Barbara Jean, Mary Ann & Sarah; and Ron, Ann, Susanna, Jessie, Russell, LeeAnna & Jimmy:

I can't believe it's already February - the only January weather we had was when Roy & Emily were here and everyone is really worried - WE NEED MORE SNOW!!! Our temperatures have been cold but we haven't had the moisture. Someone said they were using snow making equipment at Park City for skiing. November and December started out good but the snow has fizzled out.

We had such a fun, fun evening last night. Jeannie called about 4:30 and said they were coming down. The Woolleys try to come on Sunday night and watch "Murder, She Wrote" with us - when they called to see if they could come, I didn't dare tell them the Weinerts were coming because I was afraid they wouldn't come. We had some neighbors drop in about 6:30 and we all worried they wouldn't leave in time for "Murder...." but they did. I don't know if everyone enjoys the program as much as Daddy and I do but they pretend to. We REALLY enjoy having the families here and they seem happy and contented to be here - even John stayed home!

Daddy & I went to Sacrament meeting yesterday morning and when we got home it seems like all the doctors in the ward got together and decided we need help. They want us to ask Dr. Brown for a prescription for "Home Care I.V." Daddy just can't keep things on his stomach - he "threw up" four times on the way home from church and we only stayed for an hour and he had had very little to eat before going. I KNOW Dr. Brown wants to help in any way he can and I don't want to have him get the feeling that we are asking other Doctors for advice. Daddy tried to do without the pain patches because he thinks the medication in them is what is making him nauseated but he really needs them. We'll ask Dr. Brown if he can change the pain medication and maybe have it in infection and I asked for it in liquid form and that was a mistake - he couldn't get it past his nose. Bob called to check on him and when we told him about that, he ordered some pills for him - we break them up in little pieces and he is able so far to keep them down. It is kind of a vicious circle - he can't take the medicine he needs that would help him feel better.

Daddy would like to have Bob put in the I.V. and have me change it when it is necessary, rather than have the Home Care - we'll work that out some way!!! He seems really comfortable to me but I hate to have him so nauseated if there is a way around that.

Bob & Claire have had a fun weekend, we hope. They left on Thursday to go to the Teton range for snowmobiling - they were supposed to come home last night but we haven't talked to them. Bob says there is a group of physicians who go each year.

We haven't heard from Roy & Patrice but we know you're doing good. I got a little soft bodied doll for Emily to play with when she comes again - she seems to just love the cuddly ones. I have had fun making some doll clothes for it - it has a sad face and when Daddy saw it, he said, "Oh, Barbara, take it back and get one with a happy face". I think it's just darling and has character and the grandchildren who were here last night thought it was cute too so I won't exchange it.

John is doing good. He REALLY is enjoying his work - we don't see very much of him but we know he is busy doing good things. He went to Salt Lake with a friend on Saturday morning to buy tickets for "Les Miserable" which will be put on in August. Daddy & I watched the news later Saturday night and they had pictures of people who had been in line since 6 o' clock in the morning hoping to get tickets - they said they had sold 15,000 and had to turn away people still standing in line. They had 5,000 more to sell yesterday and the people were going to stay in line overnight. Needless to say, John & his friend did not get tickets and they were disappointed.

Our friends were SO impressed with the Woolleys and we had such a good time when we went there last Monday night. The children didn't play as much as we would have liked but what they did play was just excellent. Ann is very sensitive about things like that and I guess that's good - she doesn't take after me - if I would have had children as talented as theirs are I would have had at least an hour's program planned. They just opened up their home to us and had a big fire burning in their fireplace and we just loved it. WE REALLY DID APPRECIATE IT. Our friend, Emma Lou Thayne, the author, has a new book about to be published and if I think you would enjoy it, I'll get it for you when it comes out. Their daughter, Becky, was a victim of anorexia when she was young and she & her mother have collaborated on a book about that - she is completely recovered from it now.

The Weinerts are doing fine. Jeannie met us at Dr. Middleton's office when we went there last Tuesday and stayed with us while we were there - she brought us delicious egg rolls and guess who ate them??? WE REALLY APPRECIATED YOUR COMING JEANNIE. It was so funny - while we were waiting to see the doctor, a couple came in and we recognized them as being friends from Wyoming. He used to work for Daddy when Daddy was at the University of Wyoming and then we renewed our friendship when we were there during our mission - Jeannie got to visit with them while Daddy was in seeing Dr. Middleton. Their names are Phyllis & Jay Partridge.

Our fog has been really bad. Daddy wasn't feeling well enough to go to Salt Lake for the City Rep production on Friday night. Ann drove with her children from here and Jean drove with her children from Farmington and they said they were scared out of their wits as they drove home.

What do you all think of the "Clintons" - interesting, huh!!!
