Dearest John; Roy, Patrice, Emily & Timothy; Bob, Claire, Michael, Laura, Brett & Katie; Rick, Jean, Ricky Barbara Jean, Mary Ann & Sarah; and Ron, Ann, Susanna, Jessie, Russell, LeeAnna & Jimmy:

A beautiful day here in Orem - Daddy is down in the den sitting in his chair right in the sun and with the heat and fireplace on. He is COLD all the time. It's SO good to see the sun though - we have had a lot of haze lately!!!

Jeannie called last night to see how Daddy was and when I told he had been really nauseated for several days she said, "But, Mother, you said in your letter that he was much better". This nausea is something new and I don't know what we can do about it - it could be the medicine in the pain patches and he has to have them to help with the pain. I worry that he isn't getting enough to eat and drink but it is SO hard for him to eat when he is so nauseated. He has had a kidney infection and can't keep the antibiotics down. We're going to go see Dr. Middleton tomorrow and maybe he'll have a solution.

Our friends are coming down tonight - I asked Ann if we could go to their home after we have dinner and she very graciously said we could. They're coming here about 5:30 - 6:00 and dinner should only take an hour so I thought it would be fun to have them go to the Woolleys for a Family Home Evening. I hope Susanna will play the piano and Jessie & LeeAnna will play their violins for them. This way, Daddy will be able to excuse himself and go lie down and it will be easier for him. They're coming just to see us & I don't want them to feel it is a burden - it is hard to know what to do!!!

Happy Birthday yesterday, Claire!!! We hope you had a happy day. We really appreciated your visit last week Bob and we know how hard it is to get away. It means so much to us to have you all come when you can. Ann & Ron came with a delicious lemon meringue pie on Saturday night and watched the BYU - Colorado State basketball game with us (BYU won in overtime) and that was such a fun evening. Please don't think you have to bring something when you come though - Daddy can't eat very much and I shouldn't. The people in our ward are constantly bringing food to us and a lot of it gets thrown away.

Roy & Patrice - you are having nice, nice weather, aren't you? We talked to Chris & Marc on Saturday morning and they said it was in the 60's. Marc had written to Daddy and sent him some books he thought he would enjoy reading so we called to thank them. Marc is doing great after his stroke and eye surgeries. He is about ten years younger than Daddy and has had a lot of health problems. We think about little Emily & Timothy all the time and love to look at their pictures - I'll bet Timothy will be walking before long - we miss all of you!!!

Jeannie's childhood friend from Phoenix, Janda Ripstein, came with her husband and five daughters to visit the Weinerts. Jeannie says she looks just the same - we would love to see her she wasn't any bigger than a minute when she was a little girl and I guess she is still tiny. Jean & Rick went skiing with business friends on Saturday at Park City - they said the snow wasn't very good!!! WE NEED MORE SNOW.

Daddy & I drove to Park City one day last week and went shopping at the outlet mall. It was just beautiful up there and it was really hazy in Orem all day. We stopped at "Grannys" on the way home and bought some milk shakes - Daddy had been there before with Ray and warned me to just get one but I just knew we could each eat one so I got two - it took us two days to eat them!!!

John is doing good. When he came upstairs this morning I noticed he looked different and when I took a second look I realized he had shaved off his beard. I was beginning to accept it but I'm glad he shaved it off. Gayla has called here several times to talk to him but she didn't even know he had a beard so it has been a long time since she has seen him.

The Woolleys are going to "obedience school" with Wicket. Ann & Ron explained to us how they are teaching him to obey and also to be house trained. It will take a lot of time but will be well worth it when he is trained. He is a darling little dog!!!

My luncheon club went to "The Olive Garden" for dinner on Thursday and then we came over here afterwards and visited with Daddy for about an hour. It was fun. I don't want to ever be as old as some of them act but I probably already am!!!

I can't think of any more news so I'll stop for now. We love each one of you so very much. PLEASE BE VERY CAREFUL IN EVERYTHING YOU DO. Let us know how we can help you.
