Dearest John; Roy, Patrice, Emily & Timothy; Bob, Claire, Michael, Laura, Brett & Katie; Rick, Jean, Ricky, Barbara Jean; Mary Ann & Sarah; and Ron, Ann, Susanna, Jessie, Russell, LeeAnna & Jimmy:
HAPPY FATHER'S DAY YESTERDAY TO ALL THE WONDERFUL FATHERS IN OUR FAMILY!!! Daddy really appreciated all of you getting in touch with him and he had a really happy day!!! I am SO proud of him and the great example of fatherhood he is every single day and what a joy it is for us to see Roy, Bob, Rick & Ron be such good fathers too and we know John will be too. I made his favorite dessert - Lemon meringue pie - and it is still in the refrigerator with not one piece eaten!!! Daddy, John & I went to the Sizzler and we were too full to have any when we got home.
We have talked to each one of you and we're SO happy you are all happy and doing good. Roy got a new fly rod for Father's day and it was fun to hear him talk about going to the Red River to do some fly fishing. They have lots of good fishing in Arkansas!!! Bob & Claire and their family had planned to go to the cabin for the weekend but their plans were changed when Bob found out he was on call. Michael had spent the week with the Woolleys where he went to soccer camp with Russell at BYU - Claire came down to get him on Saturday afternoon and dropped by to visit for a few minutes and we loved that. Jean is all involved in ballet recitals this week for Barji & Mary Ann and last week she was in charge of getting all the "props" for a play that Ricky was in so she's busy. Ron is feeling much better after receiving some physical therapy for the injuries he got in their accident. Their physical therapist prescribed ice packs (they froze ice in Dixie cups) on the muscles that hurt and then followed with a hot pad - I guess it has really helped because he was pitching ball at Russell's ball game!!! John is doing really good too - what a joy he is!!! He goes bicycle riding almost every day and I mean bicycle riding - he doesn't think anything of going twenty miles.
Daddy & I went to the "City Rep" production of "Murder on the Nile" with Ann, Susanna, Jessie & LeeAnna and then we met Jean, Ricky, Barji & Mary Ann there. We just loved it and we're SO happy that the Weinerts have tickets for this next season. I couldn't imagine how they could put on a play like that but they are so professional and it was wonderful.
Daddy & I went fishing again several times last week. One day we went to Lincoln Beach on Utah lake and it was very windy but we caught four huge catfish and two mud cats. We went on Saturday and as Daddy would say - it was a perfect fishing day!!! The fish were so big that it was really, really hard to land them in the boat once they were hooked and we lost several. We came home with seven catfish and several mud cats. The mudcats are better tasting fish I think. It was so funny - Daddy had just finished cooking some when Claire & Michael came by so he fixed one for Michael. Michael really had a hard time getting it down and I know it was because Daddy said it was a "mud cat" - that isn't a very good name for them!!!
We're going to fix dinner for our Family Home Evening group at the cabin tonight. We had planned to all meet here at our home and travel to the cabin together but they all wanted to go early and do some fishing so we are going early too. I fixed baked beans yesterday and will fix some potato salad here this morning and then we'll cook hamburgers up there and also a Dutch oven peach cobbler.
Thursday, my luncheon club is going to meet here and we have invited our husbands too. We're going to fix that bar-b-cued turkey like they serve in Manti and also Ann's twice baked potatoes and some homemade ice cream and then others will bring some salads, etc. THIS IS A BUSY WEEK FOR US!!! Daddy would like to stay at the cabin for the week after our friends leave tonight but we won't be able to. We'll probably go up again this weekend.
We saw Julie Coulter at the Sizzler yesterday. Do any of you remember that little girl with the long black ringlets??? We used to say she had a guardian angel because she was always wandering around when she was so tiny - people would bring her back into the meetings after finding her outside in the parking lot all by herself. Anyway - she is an absolute doll!!! Jim Willardsen is dating her roommate and they were all together yesterday to celebrate Julie's birthday. Jim is such a nice guy - he is in pre-dental at BYU. He would be crazy to not go into dentistry wouldn't he??? He told us that Rosie is getting married August 16th. We'll be in Alaska!!!
We had a long talk with John last night and learned that if he graduates in August it will probably be impossible for him to continue in school and take his organic chemistry and biology which he needs for dental school. SO - he will probably delay his graduation until after he finishes those courses. We didn't understand this but I guess that once you graduate you have to be accepted as a graduate student in order to take more classes and at BYU that is very difficult unless you want to continue in a master's program which he doesn't want to do. He will have completed all the requirements for graduation except for one P. E. class - SO he won't graduate now until probably next Spring. This week is his last week in school.
We love each one of you so very much. PLEASE LET US KNOW HOW WE CAN HELP YOU. BE VERY CAREFUL IN EVERYTHING YOU DO.
