Dearest John; Roy, Patrice, Emily & Timothy; Bob, Claire, Michael, Laura, Brett & Katie; Rick, Jean, Ricky, Barbara Jean, Mary Ann & Sarah; and Ron, Ann, Susanna, Jessie, Russell, LeeAnna & Jimmy:

I should have written my letter on Sunday. Daddy & I always watch "Murder She Wrote" and then we started to watch another movie which we NEVER do but it caught my attention because it seemed so familiar. As it turned out it was a television movie adapted from that book "Murder in Little Rock" - did any of you watch that? It really "unnerved" me and I wished I hadn't watched it but I did!!!

Anyway - I am a day a late (and a dollar short) with my letter this week. Daddy & I got up early yesterday morning (Monday) and went fishing and we didn't get home until about 5:30 and then we went to our Family Home Evening party at 7:00. We were both "beat" and have slept late and I am determined to get this written before we have to leave to go to Salt Lake - we are going there to attend a financial seminar luncheon _ I always hate to go to those things because I don't understand anything they say but I guess it's important to keep informed!!!

Bob & Claire - we were disappointed to come home on Sunday and find that you had gone. We knew you couldn't stay but it gave us a sad feeling to think we could have visited had we not gone to church. (Their family had spent the weekend at the Arches and stopped by on their way home - we had about thirty minutes to spend with them.) We're SO thrilled that you are doing so many things like that with your family - to enjoy nature with your children gives them things they could never receive any other way. We had a lot of wind over the weekend and their tent blew down and they couldn't cook as planned but they still had fun.

Roy, Patrice & Suzie - we know you are enjoying being together and we hope your leg is healing good, Suzie. I got our album up to date one day last week and it was fun to look at the pictures of the children again and see how they are growing. I'll bet little Timothy has really changed - it won't be long until he will be crawling and getting into everything - WOW!!! Will Emily go to her school during the Summer. I read something about the Arkansas Gazette being sold to another company - is that right? That has always been our very favorite newspaper.

Ann & Ron and their family are all doing good. We went to City Rep with Ann, Susanna, Jessie & LeeAnna on Friday night and it was just WONDERFUL - it was "Sound of Music" & I believe it was the best one we have seen there - maybe because I was familiar with the story. Ron took Russell & Jimmy to their ward's Father & Son Outing - we haven't heard but I'm sure they had a good time. I wish I had said more about their little baby kittens - they had five darling ones and WHAT AN EXPERIENCE FOR THEM!!!

The Weinerts are all doing good, I'm sure. We know they are having fun landscaping their backyard. When we talked to them last they were having a garden specialist come tell them what to plant. Their friend works for the Utah State experimental gardens close by them and would really be a big help to them. It is so important to get the right plants in the right places - I have wondered why our shrubs haven't grown faster on our hill and just found out the other day that they need more sun.

John is doing good. He is going to Moab this weekend to go on a bicycle trip. He has been doing some bike riding around our home and last Saturday he went with a group of his friends to Sundance. The rode their bikes on the same trail you guys all hiked on when we were together for Thanksgiving a couple years ago. They came home all muddy but they said it was beautiful - would you believe it SNOWED on them!!! He really helps Daddy with the yard and keeps it mowed so nice.

Daddy has gone for another PSA test. He has an appointment with Dr. Brown next week and he wanted him to have that test done before he came in. He has to feel good to keep up the pace he does. We went fishing two days last week but one of those days it was SO windy there were white caps on the lake and he didn't dare to launch the boat. Since we had the boat and could carry some big plants we went into the Wasatch Shadows nursery in Salt Lake and bought another juniper tree to replace the one that died and also some more shrubs for our hill. We came home and planted all of them - the tree was so big and heavy we really needed some kind of machine to lift it but Daddy did it. There is absolutely no way I can keep him from doing things like that!!! He gets SO restless when he can't fish or dig in the dirt.

I went to the nicest place for lunch one day last week with our little luncheon club. It is right on the way to our cabin in Scofield but it is hidden down in the trees and we didn't even know it was there. It backs up to the golf course and the scenery is just gorgeous. I want to take Daddy there one day soon on our way to the cabin.

We had our ward temple night refreshment party at our home last Wednesday. I "attacked" our living room to make more seating room - I moved our blue chairs in there and I like it so much better. We had fourteen come and we were all seated comfortably. I made lemon bar and caramel cookies and then I made your recipe for spinach balls Jeannie and we served ice cream frappe. We had a good time. Our luncheon club is going to invite our husbands to our next meeting and we'll have it in our backyard - I just hope it will be warm enough. It is still very, very cool - I don't believe we will ever turn our air conditioner on this Summer - we'll try to get thawed out after the Winter freeze.

Daddy's sister Elaine is going to China for a month. Her son who is in law school is going to go there to school.
