Dearest John; Roy, Patrice, Emily & Timothy; Bob, Claire, Michael, Laura, Brett & Katie; Rick, Jean, Ricky, Barbara Jean, Mary Ann & Sarah; and Ron, Ann, Susanna, Jessie, Russell, LeeAnna & Jimmy:

Daddy & I just came home from our genealogy work - I have just decided to chalk that up to "service through obedience" because I sit there for four hours and am completely in the dark about what I am doing. Our supervisor, Deah Fletcher, is very nice but she doesn't want to be bothered wit the insignificant questions we have. I KNOW there has to be a better way to serve through genealogy!!! Ramona & Winston feel the same way we do and they have quit going.

We just had a wonderful time yesterday and appreciate the Utah family getting together - WE MISSED ROY, PATRICE, EMILY & TIMOTHY!!! Ann & Rick really deserve top billing for their dishes - Ann served the most delicious dessert I have tasted for a long, long time and Rick's German potato salad is one of my very favorites and we could have a made a complete meal with just that.

We had expected everyone to get here about ten o'clock since that was when conference started but they didn't get here until about noon. Bob practiced medicine all morning - the Weinert's neighbor got a fish hook caught in his nose and Bob took that out and then he went to our relatives here in Orem and removed some stitches from some surgery he had done earlier in the week. It was kind of a funny day for Bob - he left the "party" early so he could go to his missionary reunion in Salt Lake and when he got there he found out it was held on Saturday afternoon instead of Sunday - just not his day!!!

We had hamburgers & hot dogs here and then all the adults went to see Ron's new office. I am really surprised in how large it is and also how plush - we're SO proud of Ron for doing what he is doing and we know it isn't easy. While we were there Bob told us a little about his new office which will be ready in about a month. When Daddy & I got in the car I said, "You know, I feel like I am standing still" and Daddy said, "Well, I feel like I've been in the game and they just benched me and got a permanent substitute". Could it be our ages???

We LOVE being with our family more than anything we do. It is so NEAT to see our grandchildren grow and also to se how much they love their "cousins". We are very, very proud of each one of you. We need some more babies though - little Katie just isn't a baby anymore - she is a little lady!!! Little Timothy would have been completely worn out from attention had he been with us yesterday. Emily & Katie would have been like Brett & Jimmy are - so close in age and size. Happy Birthday to Jessie this Thursday - 11 years old, I believe!!!

We had a funny experience last Friday night. That is the night for our missionary reunion if we have one. Daddy didn't want to announce it in the papers and would you believe we did not have one person come - wow, do we ever feel importance!!! Greg Madsen called from California and said he would like to see us so we got all dressed up and I had made cookies & punch and then he didn't even come. I know they don't really know how Daddy is feeling and it is an awkward situation for them.

John is doing good - he will take his DAT this Saturday and I know he will be glad when that's over. He has been "over-programmed" for the past few months and needs a rest. He went out to see if his boat would start and forgot to take his key - he though it was in the boat somewhere. He can't find it!!!

Roy - thanks SO much for your call on Friday night. We are SO proud that you & Patrice are taking your children on little camping trips in your van. I'll bet you & Emily have fun fishing together - did you go to the river? We had a letter from Dorothy and she said your town is just gorgeous and we remember that. Dana had a little baby boy born Feb. 19th - Shawn Daniel. They are unhappy with Bill Clinton and the school situation and taxes.

Claire - thank you SO much for the pictures - one with Bob, Michael, Laura & Brett in their skiing gear and one of Katie with her little friends at her birthday party - a fun happy time in your lives and we're SO thrilled that you do so many things together. We talked about your water rationing - that is hard!!!

Jean & Rick - we're thrilled that you are getting your landscaping done (they're having dirt & rocks put next to their patio and will plant shrubs & trees). It will be beautiful!!!

Ann & Ron are going to San Francisco this Wednesday through Friday. We offered to baby sit but the children would much prefer Stacy and we don't blame them!!!

Daddy goes into Salt Lake in the morning for an appointment with Dr. Middleton. He hasn't seen him for about four months and he called not long ago and told him he wanted to see him - we were impressed!!! Daddy is doing wonderful - he hauled off about 20 bags of dried old grass from our lawns that he had power and hand raked. He has also plumbed in another outlet for our hoses down in the middle patio and has the yard in good shape - the frost killed all our roses along the West fence - sad!!!

Chris Crawford - Ramona & Winston's son - is doing a lot of dental work for me. I haven't been to the dentist for at least four years - DUMB ME!!! I had some cavities and he had to do a root canal and is replacing five crowns - I'll be beautiful!!! He is going to do a root canal for Daddy tomorrow afternoon.

We took Frauie & Hans in for artificial insemination and found we were about three days too late - I about cried!!!
