Dearest John; Roy & Patrice & Emily & Timmy; Bob, Claire, Michael, Laura, Brett & Katie; Rick, Jean, Ricky, Barbara Jean, Mary Ann & Sarah; and Ron, Ann, Susanna, Jessie, Russell, LeeAnna & Jimmy:

WELCOME, WELCOME TO LITTLE TIMMY!!! As I am looking at my calendar this morning I see today is circled as the day Roy & Patrice were expecting their little baby - he came a week early and we just can't tell you how thrilled we are to have him here. Roy called about an hour after he was born - Daddy was down in the garden and I couldn't see him - I ran all over this house trying to find him because Roy wouldn't tell me what they had - he kept saying "We had a baby - get Dad on the phone"!!! I finally found the portable phone and took it to Daddy but the connection wasn't good so Roy waited until we were both in the house on phones - it seemed like an eternity. Daddy has said all along they would have a little boy but I just knew it would be a little girl.

They have named him Timothy Forrest and will call him Timmy - Patrice says that Emily can say Timmy. He weighed 8 lbs. 1 oz. so he is a really healthy little guy and what a great blessing. Patrice got along very well - they were only in the hospital for about an hour before he was born and she came home the next day. We worried about them being without help for a couple days but Roy was able to take a day off and they got along just fine. Suzie - Patrice's Mom - got there on Friday and I know they welcomed her with open arms. I remember as well as you other Moms do that I was so worried about our older children when the other babies came along. I asked Roy how Emily was and he said, "just terrible" - Ha!!! Roy says she doesn't look much like Emily did when she was born - he has dark hair. Needless to say, we can hardly wait to see him and hold him and also to see little Emily again - I wonder if she will remember us.

Daddy left yesterday to go to the Colorado river on a hunting and fishing trip. They plan to come home tomorrow (Tuesday) evening and we plan to leave for Arkansas on Thursday. Chris and Wayne have called us and they will be in Hot Springs this weekend - will probably go over there and stay a night or two with them. I found Daddy's sleeping bag in the garage after they left yesterday and if he is without a sleeping bag they may come home early. I worry about him on trips like this because when he comes home he is usually in pain one way or another - there were three of them to sleep in Ray's camper and it is little. He has felt SO good for the past week - he doesn't do any hard lifting and it has paid off.

Daddy and I went with Ann and her girls to Salt Lake for our Theatre Play on Friday night. They play was "The Hunchback of Notre Dame" and it was very well done - I think we all prefer musicals but this was good. I wasn't familiar with the story and that was dumb - I should have made an effort to read the story.

I loved being with the girls and hearing about their trip to California - I was impressed that their "favorite" thing was seeing "The Phantom of the Opera". They loved Disneyland too but they said there were too many crowds. It was fun to hear them describe the things they had seen at Universal Studios and also at Knotts Berry Farms.

Do you all remember the Short family in Little Rock? They had sons about the ages of Bob & Roy and they gave us our dog, Reb. They lived close by us on Markham when we were living in that rented home. Their son Wayne who was your age Bob, was killed in an automobile accident last week. He had been on a hunting trip with a friend and the friend had to come home early because of family illness so Wayne decided to come home early too. Wayne was behind his friend on the freeway and they were talking on their CBs when all of a sudden Wayne slumped over and his car swerved right in front of a big semi truck. They are assuming he had a heart attach (he also had asthma and had been on medication). Chris called me yesterday to tell me and she said his second marriage was a very happy one and they had several children - Sad!!! His brother, Glen, was murdered in a robbery while we still lived in Little Rock - do you remember that?

We haven't talked to the Weinerts this week - we hope you are all doing fine!!! We talked to Bob & Claire one night last week and they are fine - Bob hasn't been hunting yet. I asked John last night if he thought he would still lover hunting & fishing as much as Daddy does when he is his age and he said, "I hope so"!!! John has REALLY kept his nose to the grind stone rough for a long time. He planned to go duck hunting this past Saturday but as he said it "our plans didn't gel" so he stayed home and did yard work. He spends SO much time at his desk studying and working on his computer that I worry about him getting that "computer bone disfigurement" disease - Ha!!! It's good that he is studying that hard though. His friend, Gayla, is still in Anaheim waiting for her visa - I think she would really prefer being in Spain using her Spanish. They told her it would probably be four months before she got her visa so she has a month or so more to wait.

Daddy & I went to our Family Home Evening party last Monday and we played "Battleship" without the cards. We both talked about how we used to play that with John & probably you Roy. It was fun then but playing it the way we did was VERY confusing. It was fun being with friends though. We also went to the temple on Thursday night and then to friends for banana splits afterwards and that was fun. There are some lovely people in our ward and we NEED to have a party.

Daddy & I drove up to the cabin on Saturday morning to drain the pipe that goes into the cabin from the main place and to get the motor for Daddy to take fishing. It was a gorgeous day - would you believe it has been in the 80's here? The lake is so low we found Daddy's fishing reel in the mud close to the shore.
