Dearest John; Roy, Patrice & Emily; Bob, Claire, Michael, Laura, Brett & Katie; Rick, Jean, Ricky, Barbara Jean, Mary Ann & Sarah; and Ron, Ann, Susanna, Jessie, Russell, LeeAnna & Jimmy:

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY TO US!!! We are celebrating our 43rd wedding anniversary today and we have said a million times "We have really DONE it" with such a wonderful family and so many blessings - really all of our dreams have come true and we are very, very thankful!!! We were over to Lehi for a few minutes to take Daddy's truck and we stopped at the drug store and bought an anniversary card and will go out to dinner tonight!!!

This will be a hurried letter. We need to be at the genealogy library in about an hour and a half. Ramona called this morning and said they wouldn't be able to go - they are going to Virginia with Carolyn and Gerald and will visit Margaret for two weeks and they have too many things to do to get ready. That will be good because they will be able to take over for us when we go to Little Rock.

It was SO good to talk to you Patrice and also to receive your letter Roy and those pictures of your new home - WE JUST LOVE YOUR HOME!!! It looks like the kind of home that will be "home" from the minute you move in and we're SO thrilled you found it. We hope you will be able to move in before the baby comes and get little Emily used to her surroundings before she is to welcome another little member of her family. WE are "ON GO" and will be able to come whenever you call - if all goes as you have planned we will leave here around Nov. 1st. Any apartment you arrange for us to have will be just fine - we will need one that is furnished but it doesn't have to be wonderful!!! I don't look for us to stay longer than two weeks - Daddy talks about staying for a month but unless he can build you something he will get so "antsy" he will want to come home.

Daddy is doing just great. He had a wonderful time elk hunting - I was outside when they came home and they looked like "mountain men" and talked a mile a minute telling me about everything. Daddy shot an elk about 700 yards away - Ray was watching through some binoculars and said the elk just did a somersault. He must have just injured it though because they couldn't find it. I really think they were happy for an excuse to go back up and get another one - they plan to leave on Oct. 10th for another hunt. Ray told me that he had a hard time keeping up with Daddy - he is MUCH stronger than he was last year at this time.

Daddy has decided to sell his truck - he got the camper put on it and cleaned it all up and thought he would keep it. It only gets about 10 miles per gallon and is not the kind that is dependable enough to take very far away so he wants to sell it and get one that he can enjoy - a Toyota pickup. He has not used it even one day for the last six months.

We have talked to each one of you this week - thanks to the Weinerts for their many phone calls. Everyone is doing great. Annie, Susanna, Jessie & LeeAnna were over for a little while last night and they have lots of fun things planned - they are going to California (their whole family is flying) for such a fantastic little vacation while school is out for the teachers' convention. They will visit Disneyland, Universal Studios, Knotts Berry Farm, etc., etc., - we're SO thrilled for them. Susanna played her recital piece on the piano for us last night and I can't believe how good she is. Ron is just about finished with their fence and it is very, very beautiful - just frames their home like it has been there for forever!!!

Jeannie has a seminar in Park City this Thursday and Friday and that sounds fun. They are going to try to have a special baptism for Mary Ann because the regularly scheduled baptism for their ward isn't until Nov. 3rd - we won't be here and bob won't either - he has to go back East for a seminar. We hope they can work that out or else wait for a month and have her baptized in December - that wouldn't be too bad, would it???

It was SO good to talk to you last night Bob (he talked to John for the longest time and when I said to Bob, "I thought John was just talking to a friend". Bob said, "He was"!!!) I can't tell you how thrilled we are that you REALLY WANT to go to the cabin this weekend and watch conference up there - WE ARE STILL IN SHOCK - Ha!!!

These are the plans for this weekend and I cannot emphasize enough that it will not make one bit of difference to Daddy and I if some of you can't make it. We truly understand that it is a long way to go and you are all busy with your own things - it simply isn't fun for any of us if you come when you don't want to!!!

Daddy and I will go up on Friday night. We won't leave here until probably 9 o'clock because that is the night we have told our missionaries we would always be here if they want to come by to say "Hi". We didn't put our names in the missionary reunion list in the paper this year so we probably won't have anyone come but I just can't leave (Daddy could). We will take "stuff" for sandwiches Sat. afternoon and hamburgers for Sat. night for us and Bob & his children - if any others are coming you will need to let me know. Sunday we will have pancakes and trimmings for breakfast and we have all the things we need for that at the cabin. I WILL TAKE ALL WE NEED FOR SPAGHETTI FOR SUNDAY DINNER AND ALSO FRENCH BREAD - it won't be fancy on bit. Jeannie said she would bring dessert. We have zillions of tomatoes, cukes, peppers, squash so I will get lettuce for a salad. We won't need for the Woolleys to bring anything in case they can't make it - if you do come, would you like to bring some fruit? Bob - would you like to stop at Smiths and bring some kind of salad that your children like? We have LOTS of snacking food that needs to be eaten at the cabin. PLEASE LET'S MAKE IT EASY!!!
