Dearest John; Roy, Patrice & Emily; Bob, Claire, Michael, Laura, Brett & Katie; Rick, Jean, Ricky, Barbara Jean, Mary Ann & Sarah; and Ron, Ann, Susanna, Jessie, Russell, LeeAnna & Jimmy:

This will be a short letter!!! I don't have any news and I have about an hour to write and get it mailed.

Daddy is still elk hunting - he said to expect him when I saw the white of his eyes. He left on Friday afternoon - Ray had gone to Colorado for a little trip and said he would try to get back early so they could leave. Daddy got all packed and was out in the carport waiting from about 8 o'clock in the morning until Ray got here about 4 o'clock. They were both SO excited and I hope so much that they have a wonderful time and get what they want!!!

I went to do the genealogy work this morning and it will probably be interesting when we get into it but right now it is as clear as mud. One thing I have learned though that there are one million Robert and John Mellors - that is a very popular Mellor name. Roy - you are lucky because so far we have only run across and Winston and hard to believe they are ten years older than I am - they are doing great!!!

What did you all think of the BIG football game??? That was an exciting night - we don't have cable so I couldn't watch it but I had the radio on all over the house. John has tickets with his ward so he & his friends all watched it and he said it was WONDERFUL!!! One commentator kept saying "it just isn't possible for BYU to beat Miami" and they outplayed them the whole game with them winning 28-21. I had planned to watch the Miss America pageant but it didn't start until so late and I went to sleep right in the middle of it and awakened just as she was being crowned - I was surprised about the winner!!!

I worked down in Daddy's workroom putting some canned things away on Saturday and hurried and took boxes of our old Christmas cards and Daddy's old carpet to the garbage before I thought about it and changed my mind. That room has been so cluttered that we could hardly get in there - mostly with things I had put in there. It's nice to have it straight!!!

Roy - we're anxious to hear more from you about the home you & Patrice found that you liked. (They found one in the Heights they like.) We are ready to come whenever you need us - it might be best to wait until after Daddy gets his elk though - Ha!!! It would be wonderful for you to get into a home before the baby comes - I know that apartment must be getting mighty small!!!

I am working on those little bags for the Romanian orphans. I am making them out of some polyester and trimming them with lace they'll be durable and pretty. So far I have twenty-seven cut out and started - I don't know what I am going to put in them yet - they suggested little books & toys.

John has been taking the city bus to school. He can catch it just a few blocks away and says it is SO much easier than trying to find a parking place and besides it gives him about twenty minutes to study while he's riding. I asked him if it reminded him of his high school days and he said it reminded him more of his time in Chile.

We had a sad letter from Floy McKell in Little Rock last week. I think most of you remember the Corpiers from North Little Rock. Their son Henry, who is about Ann's age, took his won life. He had divorced a year ago and just never did get over it I guess. His parents, Louis & Doris, visited here with us last Summer and we always go to see them when we go to Arkansas. Henry & his Dad were always hunting & fishing and it is going to be devastating to them.

Chris & Joy called yesterday and I had a good visit with them. Chris is going to be in Salt Lake on the 20th - at the airport and I plan to go visit with her. I write to them instead of calling to try to discourage them from calling but they do it anyway. We had such a wonderful visit with some friends about a week ago. When we were first married and moved to Fort Collins, Colorado our wonderful friends were Carol & Wes Petersen (Wes was studying Veterinarian Medicine) and June & Dave Carson (Dave was getting his PhD in Poultry Science). We moved on the Raleigh, North Carolina and they both moved to California. Soon after they moved June died and Dave remarried. Then several years later Wes died. Carol just remarried about a year ago and she married a former classmate of Daddys in Manti. SO Carol & Perry Christensen came to see us and we LOVED it and talked a mile a minute - they had just bought a red convertible Saab!!!

Our Relief Society is going on a tour of home flower & vegetable gardens tomorrow morning. I have to get up early and clean our yard of dog dodos because they want to come here. Our hill is just gorgeous and we have had some wonderful vegetables!!!

That's all the news. We love each one of you so very much. PLEASE BY VERY CAREFUL IN EVERYTHING YOU DO. Let us know how we can help you.
