Daddy & I just came home from the genealogy library!!! I was supposed to have a permanent this morning and the beautician called me at 8 o'clock and said she had to take her daughter to the doctor. About five minutes later they called from the library and told us we were supposed to be there at 8:30 - they had tried to call us all day yesterday and of course, we were gone. I have decided to just wait on my permanent until Ann has time to give me one. It has only been two months since I had one and when I had it cut last week the girl cut all my permanent off but I guess it is really too early to get another one.

Let me tell you about our genealogy calling!!! Daddy's cousins, Calvin Bartholomew, has been called with his wife to go to England on a genealogy mission. He has been doing genealogy on the Mellor line and asked Daddy to take his place - Winston & Ramon are going to do it with us. It is an interesting calling - we will be doing genealogy only on the royal lines from 1066 to 1700 and from what I understand there are only certain lines that are being researched and the Mellor line is one of them. We had the "Head Honcho" (sp.?) there to instruct us this morning - she is the wife of Harvey Flectcher from BYU and WOW does she mean ever know a lot about genealogy. She is a real perfectionist and says everything we do will be checked three times before it goes into Salt Lake to be checked some more. They will put the information on discs and we will be able to get copies - a real incentive. We are obligated to work four hours a week - we plan to go Monday mornings. We told her we would be fine. I want to do this while Bro. Bartholomew is gone but when he comes back I would like to do some on the Forrest line!!!

We had an absolutely WONDERFUL time yesterday at Bob & Claire home. They had invited the family for a Labor Day get together and we just LOVED it. We missed Roy, Patrice & Emily and also Ron who had been traveling so much that he felt he had planned to go to "Surf & Swim" where the children would have had a lot of fun. Claire kept calling them to see how the crowd was and they kept telling her that all the surf boards or whatever they use were rented out and they have a lot of them - in other words - it was crowded!!! Finally the adults talked the children into staying home and playing "water baseball" and they were good sports about it. We loved watching them all play in the backyard and they had a lot of fun - their beautiful yard kinda took a "beating" but hopefully it will recover. That is a fun game!!!

The dinner was just delicious - they cooked shish-ka-lots of work but SO-O-O-O good. John had to eat early because he had a function with his ward at school last night. They had a video so the children settled in to watch that while we all visited on their beautiful patio - I could have stayed all night but the children had to get to bed so they would be ready to go to school this morning so we all left around 7:30.

Everyone in the family is doing just great!!! We had a letter from Dorothy & Dan and they enclosed some pictures taken while Roy, Patrice & Emily were visiting them. It was SO good to see some recent pictures and they are darling. We also visited more with Jean & Rick about their visit with you and they said you are liking Little Rock and doing fine. One of the pictures they sent was from their downstairs and we could see Jeanette Barbee's home in the background and it made us homesick. Dorothy & Dan were at St. Croix in the Virgin Island when they wrote.

John started school this morning - he left early, I asked him if he were excited to start and he said NO!!! He has had a very productive Summer getting some classes out of the way so he doesn't feel like he has had any classes out of the way so he doesn't feel like he has had any vacation. His friend from California, Kate Hunter, has been here over the weekend and he attended on 18 Stake fireside at the Marriott Center where her grandfather was the speaker. Howard W. Hunter could very well be the President of the Church soon - he is next in line to President Benson. John & Kate will always be the best of friends - they were in Chile together.

Speaking of school - I had a special experience going to school with Susanna, Jessie, Russell & LeeAnna. They had a "Meet Your Teacher" night and it was right after the Woolleys had come from their family reunion in Yellowstone. Anna became very ill - she thought maybe it was something she had eaten but I'm betting it was that 24 hour flu. Anyway they called and asked us to take them to their school because Ron was out of town. I LOVED MEETING ALL THEIR TEACHERS.

Daddy & I went with Ann, Susanna, Jessie & LeeAnna to Salt Lake for the musical, "Joseph & the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" on Friday night. It was just excellent and we really enjoyed it. That is SO good for the children - they bought the tape of it and yesterday they were singing every song that was in it.

Michael - thank you for showing us the things you have sewn in you "children's sewing class". How smart to learn how to sew!!! I am going to make about twenty "fun bags" for the orphans in Romania and will use the drawstrings like you showed me.

Ricky - some day we will read about you in the Wimbledon Tennis tournaments - it was SO fun to watch you & you Dad play and you're good - KEEP IT UP!!!

Daddy will go elk hunting on Friday - he is excited!!! I am going to "attack" our food storage room while he is gone!!!
