Dearest John; Roy, Patrice & Emily; Bob, Claire, Michael, Laura, Brett & Katie; Rick, Jean, Ricky, Barbara Jean, Mary Ann & Sarah; and Ron, Ann, Susanna, Jessie, Russell, LeeAnna & Jimmy:

Wow - we have wintry weather!!! We even had a little snow on the ground yesterday and when Daddy & I walked this morning the wind was really cold - the sun is out shining brightly though so it should warm up!!!

The big news for this letter is that the Weinerts' bird eggs have hatched. Barji called and told me that one egg had cracked and the birds had rolled it out of their nest so they got it and tried to incubate it but it didn't work. This was last Monday and she said they thought there were two or maybe three little birds that had hatched. Daddy called on Tuesday and she said they thought there were more and when John talked to them yesterday they thought there might be five. That is SO exciting - Barji said everyone in their neighborhood had been in to see them and I have wanted to drive up to see them. Will your bird cage be large enough for that many birds????

Another big news item is that John is settled in back home - he spent most of last week moving his things in and we are SO thrilled to have him here. A lot of his friends have helped him move and it has been fun to have young people in and out again. His room looks entirely different now and we love it. He spent most of yesterday working on our genealogy. I couldn't believe that we didn't have many of the dates of our family's important events and when we discovered that, I said I would ask each one of you to give us that information as soon as you could. John said, "Oh, Mom, why don't we call them right now and get it done" so he did and I'm so thrilled. He has gone to school now to get copies made for each one of you - would you please check all the dates and let us know if any of them are wrong? John starts school tomorrow for the Spring Semester and he is taking some hard courses!!!! His friend, Gayla, has gone back home to Mesa and I know he misses her.

Another big news item is that we talked to Roy and they are planning to come spend some time with us in June. Roy officially won't be through with the Air Force until the first of July but he has enough vacation time built up so he will be through the end of May. June is a pretty time in Utah and we're REALLY looking forward to your visit and hope you'll stay a long time. Patrice & Emily are going to Little Rock this Wednesday to look for an apartment - we hope you have a fun time and can find just what you want. Chris & Joy both called yesterday and I told them you were going to be there - they would love to help you if you want them to. Chris told me that she had heard a lot of complaints about The Fox Apartments - the temperatures either being too hot or too cold. I don't believe you would even consider getting an apartment that you couldn't regulate the temperature yourselves, would you?

Daddy, Bob, Michael, Laura & Brett just had a wonderful time at Lake Powell - I really worried about them because the weather was so unpredictable but Daddy was just ecstatic about their trip and said it couldn't have been better. We got the pictures back yesterday that they had taken and it looked like they caught some fish, made lots of sand castles and just had fun. I'M SO GLAD!

The Woolleys left Thursday afternoon for Lake Powell after their children were out of school and came home last night. John talked to them for a few minutes last night and said they were busy cleaning out their van and boat but they had had a wonderful time even though the weather wasn't too good. Their children all took friends so I know Ann & Ron were "frazzled" - Ha!!!

Daddy had another bone scan on Friday - we spent the entire day at Utah Valley Hospital. They had had several emergencies and there was one delay after another. The scan did not reveal any new places and we were thrilled about that. Dr. Brown is really being very careful - he took the x-rays of the scan back to the radiologist several times to have him check certain places. He is starting Daddy on a female hormone capsule - it is so rare that we had to order it from the pharmacy and it won't be here until today. He said the only side effect he could expect would be a little diarrhea. Daddy just looks fantastic and feels that good too - we're doing just fine!!!

I have cut an article about the temple ordinance changes that was in our local paper yesterday to send to you Roy & Patrice. I want it recorded in my journal that they have made this change and that is why I am mentioning it. I know we talk a lot about going to the temple and I thought you might be interested in this. It is such a sacred thing that we never discuss it openly and we were really surprised to see this in the paper but since it was printed I feel it will be good to mention it. WE LOVE THE CHANGES and of course we love all that temple work means to us.

We're looking forward to Russell's baptism this Saturday morning. If the Bob Mellors and Weinerts are able to come for it would it be a good time to go to the cabin just for the afternoon??? I'll throw that out and wait to hear from you - we could cook hot dogs on the outside bar-be-cue pit!!!

We have changed all our investments - I want that recorded in my journal too. We have surely learned a lot about stocks, bonds, tax-free investments, etc, etc. I just couldn't stand to see our net worth go down $500 a day consistently for a month with no good news in sight - our stock broker said we could look for an improvement by August but by that time we could have lost a lot more money. We are going to go into safe treasury bills and just pay the taxes - at least our principal will be safe!!!

We love each one of you so very much and we're so proud of you!!!
