Dearest John; Roy, Patrice & Emily; Bob, Claire, Michael, Laura, Brett & Katie; Rick, Jean, Ricky, Barbara Jean, Mary Ann & Sarah; and Ron, Ann, Susanna, Jessie, Russell, Lee Anna & Jimmy:
I'm back on schedule and since I just wrote to you this won't be a very long letter. We are having Winter weather again - Saturday was an absolutely gorgeous day and then yesterday was a snowy and cold one. John even took his boat to the lake on Saturday - he tried to launch it at Saratoga and it was closed and it was kinda' late in the day so he decided to just take it back and put it on the lot. We knew he was going and when the wind came up and he didn't come home I was worried and called Mamie to see if she could see his boat on the lot - she said it was there so I knew he had changed his mind. When it is windy, Utah lake is really treacherous - he knows that though and uses good judgment but I couldn't help but worry!!!
How are all of you??? John checks in on us really often and we love that, Annie & Jimmy came over one day and Bob has called - we hope Roy, Patrice & Emily and Rick, Jean & their family are all doing good too. It won't be long until all the Spring activities start and Daddy can hardly wait - he has gone this morning to get some more lumber to build a "serving" table for the patio - down by the grill. Our patio is just darling - we love it when we're down there and we love looking at it from the house. Daddy REALLY feels good - he certainly has a wonderful quality of life for having cancer - he goes back to see the oncologist next week and I always hate that because he will tell him he is supposed to be sick I'm sure. We walk each morning at the outside track over at the "rec center" and we go around six times - over three miles. It was cold this morning but we like that much better than the mall.
Patrice - I put our Spring wreath on our front door even if it is still Winter - we really love that with the little bird house, birds and flowers. Have you had any REAL interest in selling your home? I know that is a worry and also a bother to have to show it so many times - we hope it sells right at the right time. We really miss Emily - I'll bet she has changed a lot!!! Roy - I'm going to insist on Daddy getting some new golf equipment - do you have any suggestions?
Ricky - we REALLY want to come to some of your baseball games this Summer - will you give us a schedule? When we walk around the track each morning we watch the men preparing the baseball fields over there and we think about you. We also want to come to the things Barji, Mary Ann & Sarah are in - if we know far enough in advance we can usually make it.
Our ward really has us scheduled for April - they asked me to put on a cooking demonstration for "quick luncheons" in Relief Society and they asked Daddy to be in charge of refreshments for the Gold & Green Ball. They have done so many things for us this year that we should never complain!!! The MIA is having a "Grandparents" party this Saturday for all the "old folks" - we're looking forward to it and there was a time when we wouldn't have wanted it - Ha!!!!
Daddy & I went to Lehi on Saturday and went to see the Cleggs. They were the ones who took care of Aunt Marvel's house for us for so many years. BOB & CLAIRE - they wanted your address and I told them I would have to get it for them later - they just love you and have some pictures you gave them on their wall. We didn't tell them where you worked Bob but they may find you anyway - she is having some inner ear problems. They are different but they certainly helped us out for many years. I didn't realize how poor they were and I have worried about them so much since our visit. We also visited with Mamie & Oral Hansen and they are different too - the era of having them and the Cleggs in our lives seems like a million years ago!!!
I can't think of any more news. The Woolleys are trying to decide on a fence for their home - they're looking at a special type of picket fence that is made of a hard plastic (I believe that's right). They're also involved in doing some wallpapering or having it done in their girls' rooms. John is involved in lots of things at school - it is fun to hear him talk about some of his classes and how he can apply the things he is learning to everyday things - that makes it worthwhile. His semester ends in April and then he plans to continue on through the Summer and hopes to graduate a year from now.
Your cousin is getting married this Friday in the Manti temple. Debbie Perkes is the daughter of Ramona's daughter. I believe Daddy & I will go to the wedding - we probably wouldn't go if it weren't going to be in Manti but that will be special for the family to be together in the temple where they all grew up. Ramona's daughter (Carolyn) has had a busy year - she & her husband Gerald have been caring for another daughter who was pregnant with twin boys and had to have constant bed rest - they were born three months ago and are doing fine now.
Bob - Daddy loved his visit with you on the phone. Your trip to Southern Utah sounded like so much fun (the children rode horses). We'll send you some pictures of your trip to the cabin - that doesn't look like one bit of fun to me - Ha!!! Claire - I have the feeling you're making more draperies - are you???
We love each one of you so very much. PLEASE BE VERY CAREFUL IN EVERYTHING YOU DO. Let us know how we can help you.
