Another beautiful Winter day - we have really had a very mild Winter and it has been wonderful but everyone is worried that we will have snow and cold into April. An article in the paper yesterday said that boating on Utah lake would be prohibited if we didn't get some more snow or rain soon. It's really kinda' funny the way the early pioneers planned for the water in the lake - there was an agreement signed that would keep the water from getting too high but nothing to protect it from getting too low so they can pump water from it for use in Salt Lake and other counties. Surely we will get more snow!!!!
We know you're all doing fine. The Bob Mellors have been in Yellowstone this past weekend on a snow mobiling trip - I don't know if their whole family went or if just Bob & Claire but it surely sounds fun. They have had
a lot of snow there and I'll bet it is absolutely gorgeous going into the back country on snow mobiles. Daddy had an opportunity to buy a good used snow mobile and he wanted it so he could get to the cabin across the lake and also use it for ice fishing - I talked him out of it - he isn't as agile as he used to be and I could see him stranded someplace freezing to death!!!
Roy - thanks so much for your call. I will always feel bad that we didn't call you during the Panama crisis when the wounded soldiers were being treated at the hospitals where you are. We talked about it but just didn't call you. (Roy said he wouldn't have been able to tell us anything because of the tight security they were under but he should have known we were thinking of him.) I kinda' compare that situation to the Bushnell Hospital in Brigham City during World War II - that was mainly an amputee hospital and it was SO sad!!! I know it was mighty sad in San Antonio too - the soldiers are all so young. You have surely had a variety of experiences while you have been in San Antonio, haven't you? We miss little Emily - (Roy said she will be "two" for a long time - Ha!)
John - we were so thrilled to have you in the house the other night even if we didn't see you. (John and "his friend" watched television in the den one night last week). You were certainly quiet - we didn't hear you come in or leave - we saw evidence of popcorn so we knew you had been here. I feel bad that our house was in such a big mess!!!
Ann & Jimmy came by to visit one day last week and we LOVED that. They come by quite often but we are most always gone - Daddy thinks we stay home all the time but people tell us they can never find us home and I agree. Jimmy doesn't want to stay very long and I don't blame him - I am going to have to come up with an "attraction" of some kind for him.
We'll see the Weinerts this weekend and we're excited. I'm planning a "Cousin" bunking party for Friday night - I don't know what I'll come up with to help them have fun but I'll think of something. I would like for PaPa, Ricky & Russell to play checkers or something calm - Ha!!! Saturday morning we will go ice skating - in the afternoon, the Woolley cousins will go home and then Sunday morning we will take the Weinerts to the Woolleys so they can go to their church with them - Sunday evening after the Super Bowl we will go to Farmington so the children can be ready for school on Monday.
I guess the big news for this week is that we wallpapered our kitchen. Our lives are SO exciting - Ha!!! Daddy went ice fishing to fish lake on Thursday morning - 4 o'clock. I spent most of the day in the temple - Daddy & I have sealing assignments so I felt obligated to go even though he couldn't. On the way home from the temple I went to the wallpaper warehouse store to "just look". Daddy and I have been looking off and on for several weeks and have had wallpaper books home to look through. I replaced the curtains in the kitchen several weeks ago - I bought those ready made lace curtains that you can buy in the fabric stores. We have so much sun exposure and we love having the sun shine through during these cold days so anything I hang up will get faded quickly and I didn't want to spend
a lot of time or money on curtains that will have to be replaced every two or three years. I just about had to use white curtains so I changed the whole color scheme and bought wallpaper with a white background and pink & blue flowers. We wanted to strip the old wallpaper and thought it would take
a lot of time - I got some wallpaper stripper and mixed up a gallon of it and sprayed it on - while it was soaking in I tried to pull some paper off in another place and it just peeled right off. We didn't even have to use the stripper. We started early on Friday morning and didn't finish until Saturday night - we couldn't believe it would take us SO long. Daddy really did it - he is SO good but the paper was hard to match and there are so many places that had to be cut and pieced - we both just love it now that it is done!!!
By the way - Daddy & three of his buddies spent all day fishing on three different lakes and caught ONE fish. He came home feeling that he had had a wonderful time - he really feels good and looks fabulous.
Daddy & Ron & I are going into Salt Lake tonight to attend the meeting about the "Milky Way". I won't add anything but Daddy wants me to go - I'm SO glad that Ron is going to be able to go he was worried that he would be out of town. There are several things that are important to us that aren't important to some of the other members - one is that we don't use the air conditioner and feel it is unnecessary. Roy & Patrice - we'll send you the dates - we wish you could go with us this Summer. The space is all gone - we love each one of you so very much. BE CAREFUL!!
