Dearest John; Roy, Patrice & Emily; Bob, Claire, Michael, Laura, Brett & Katie; Rick, Jean, Ricky, Barbara Jean, Mary Ann & Sarah; and Ron, Ann, Susanna, Jessie, Russell, LeeAnna & Jimmy:

I'm writing my letter on Tuesday again - our friends, Chris & Marc Jordin from Little Rock came yesterday and spent the afternoon with us. I'll tell about their visit later in the letter. I WANT TO GET YOUR ATTENTION AT THE BEGINNING OF THIS LETTER BECAUSE I KNOW THAT SOMETIMES YOU PROBABLY DON'T HAVE TIME TO READ THE WHOLE THING AND I DON'T BLAME YOU!!!!

Ron has found a photographer and has made an appointment for our family's picture to be taken on Wednesday evening - that's the night before Thanksgiving. He called around and couldn't find anyone who would come to a home on Friday, after Thanksgiving. WE THINK WEDNESDAY EVENING WILL BE JUST PERFECT!!! Now - the photographer will charge $150 and will give us the negatives and he will even drive to Layton or Farmington for an additional $50. This is "our deal" and we went to pay for it but I just wanted to let you know in case Bob is on call and can't come to Orem or if Rick is traveling and won't get home in time to drive down. At this point Wednesday evening is clear for Ron and we know it will be for Roy so it is important for John to keep that time clear. We're hoping you will all be able to drive to Orem and spend the night and then we will have the entire day of Thanksgiving to be together - we'll let you work that out!!!
THANKS A LOT RON!!!!

We are having the most beautiful Fall weather - I practically have to tie Daddy down to keep him for driving to the cabin. He and Bob & John are going there on Thursday night (or Friday morning) - I'm hoping Bob will bring the children because that will give me an excuse to go. It is hunting season and they want to do some hunting and that would be too dangerous for the children to be in the mountains. Daddy & I spent last Thursday and Friday at the cabin and Daddy finished the deck - it is absolutely beautiful and the best possible addition to the cabin - it just makes it twice as big. I couldn't believe all the work that Bob, John & Daddy had done - it was practically all built. Daddy is going to steal it when they go this weekend. I believe he will be able to put the sealer on in the late afternoon and let it dry overnight - that way the children wouldn't have to stay off it. Our home teacher gave Daddy most of the little stakes for the railing and that surely helped - it would have taken him a long time if he would have had to make them all.

Chris & Marc have been in Idaho since the first of October - Chris has three sisters who live close together and they stayed with them - their ages are 84, 82 & 80 and Chris says they play bridge and fight all day long every day - Ha!!! She says she is glad she lives 1,700 miles away. They were on their way to visit her brother who lives in Arizona and then go back to little Rock.

They are having a big "Roast & Toast" party at the Little Rock Country Club for Marc on November 2nd. I believe I told you they have established a scholarship fund in Marc's name at the Med Center and so far it is $75,000 - this party will add to it because it will be a $50 plate dinner with the proceeds going for the scholarships. They are much more impressed with social things than Daddy & I are but they are wonderful friends. We thought they would stay overnight and I had food cooked, etc. but it is hard to plan things when you travel.

Daddy called Ann on a Saturday afternoon just to "check in with them" and she nonchalantly mentioned that LeeAnna had had a spill on her bicycle but they were still going as a family to see "Peter Pan". Well - Sunday, Ann called to invite us to come "soothe LeeAnna" and have some dessert with them. I couldn't believe it when I saw little LeeAnna - the one side of her face was all swollen and the skin was all off and her little lips were badly cut. I wanted to cry - she didn't even look like LeeAnna. Their neighbor who is a doctor had heard about it and called Ann and told her what to look for - it was obvious there were no broken bones or cuts deep enough for stitches. Chris & Marc wanted to see Ann so we drove up there yesterday afternoon and I couldn't believe the difference one day had made - LeeAnna was practically all better. Ron was helping Susanna make a "rock house" for a school project and it was darling - Susanna is getting excited about her birthday - she is planning a scavenger hunt with her friends.

We talked to Claire the other night and she said they were all fine and had had a fun evening with the Weinerts on Sunday. We haven't talked to the Weinerts or Roy Mellors this week and we have just barely talked to John. We got half way to Scofield last Thursday and remembered that we had locked Hans out of the garage - we called and had one of John's friends give him the message and he came home to take care of it. He is super busy!

I loved the luncheon last week with my friends. We went to Gladys Briggs' home after eating and her daughter and niece put on one of the most beautiful musical programs I have ever heard. Her daughter is a piano teacher (36 students) and has five children and her niece is a professional musician who sings and composes and she has six children. It was a special afternoon.

Daddy & I are going to teach "Butter Mint making" to a mutual class tomorrow night before we go to our computer class. Daddy isn't too excited about that computer class - I hope it gets better - last week we spent the whole time writing a letter!!!

I have to take Frauie to the vet. for more shots this morning. She is the cutest little dog - Daddy is going to build her a doghouse today - Hans won't share his anymore. She has learned how to push the door down going into the garage = smart!!!!
We love each one of you so very much - PLEASE BE VERY CAREFUL IN EVERYTHING YOU DO - Let us know how we can help you!!!
