Dearest John; Roy, Patrice, Emily & Timothy; Bob, Claire, Michael, Laura, Brett & Katie; Rick, Jean, Ricky, Barbara Jean, Mary Ann & Sarah; and Ron, Ann, Susanna, Jessie, Russell, LeeAnna & Jimmy:

This will be a one page letter!!!

Daddy & I went up to Farmington yesterday morning to attend the Primary Presentation in the Weinert's ward. It was very, very excellent - Barji had a speaking part about prayer and Mary Ann played a violin obbligato with the children's choir singing " I Am A Child of God". It brought tears to our eyes it was SO good!!! All the children knew their parts so well and it was a joy for us to see something so well done. I thought their program was last week - Ann's program was yesterday too and she said it was really good too - I'm sure it was.

Their program was at 9 o'clock and ended about 10:30 so we hurried and left right after it was over. We had talked to Jeannie the night before and she said Rick had to go to Boise and she could go with him if the children could come stay with us - we have been wanting them for several weeks. SO we brought them home with us - we all went to our church for an hour and then Daddy stayed but the rest of us came home - the children had been in church since 8:30 a.m. and that was long enough!!!

The teachers in Utah are striking today and so the schools are all closed - SO we asked for the Woolley children to come play today (Susanna decided to stay at home with he friends and we don't blame her). The Weinert cousins were SO excited when I told them they were coming - they really have fun together. We plan to put them all in the truck this afternoon and go to West Canyon for a hike and then we have promised we would take them to McDonalds when we get back. We are going to the cabin tomorrow - the Woolley children will have school so they wont be able to come but the Weinerts are out for this week since they are on the year round program. I am VERY sympathetic with the teachers - there is quite a surplus of money in Utah right now and the Governor wants to give a tax break to the retirees, etc. - the teachers think it should be used for school books, salary increases and other things the schools need - it was even on national news this morning so it's BIG TIME!!!!

Daddy got all the lumber for the cabin deck and we took it to Scofield on Thursday. He carried $700 worth of redwood up a hill to the back of the cabin in about 15 minutes - it was expensive but it was still a lot of lumber - I could only carry one board at a time but he took four. He had a tooth pulled last week and I know I am going to go into the second page but it is worth telling. He went to our regular dentist in Lehi and he told him it was too bad for him to pull (the roots were imbedded into the bone) so he sent him to an oral surgeon. Daddy had to fill out a questionnaire which revealed that he had had radiation treatment in that area. The dentist was smart enough to call Dr, Brown (Daddy's oncologist) to check if that particular area had been radiated - it had just missed that part but if he had pulled it and it had been radiated the bone would just sluff off and he would lose his jaw - isn't that scary??? He went back to the dentist this morning and it is healing fine. He also went to Dr. Brown for his checkup last week and he says everything is fine - his blood tests are "within the normal numbers" whatever that means.

I believe Bob & Claire have been to a medical convention in Park City this week. It was fun to see Claire's parents at the Weinert's church yesterday (they're in the same word). They surely do look good - Claire's father has lost a lot of weight. I wanted to visit with them but there just isn't time in church meetings anymore and we had to hurry and leave.

John was home for a new minutes yesterday and he tried to call you Roy but there wasn't an answer. I'm sure you were showing Joan around town - we hope you are having a lot of fun. It sounds like the hurricane missed the Texas area. Chris & Wayne were surely worried about it - they said when hurricanes hit near Puerto Rico they usually get it too. I feel bad for the people in South Carolina!!!! Give Joan & your Mom our love Patrice. We miss little Emily but love the pictures you sent - we always keep the current ones on the refrigerator and right now we have the one of her crying - it's darling and I know that is a rare thing for her.

Daddy & I worked a the welfare cannery last week - it wasn't fun - Ha!!! We canned pears and they put Daddy on the steaming table where he had to keep his head down but he couldn't do it for very long because his neck got hurting.

Russell & Ricky are heckling me so I had better stop - Ha!!

We love each one of you so very much - PLEASE BE VERY CAREFUL IN EVERYTHING YOU DO. Let us know how we can help you.
