Dearest John; Roy, Patrice & Emily; Bob, Claire, Michael, Laura, Brett & Katie; Rick, Jean, Ricky, Barbara Jean, Mary Ann & Sarah; and Ron, Ann, Susanna, Jessie, Russell, LeeAnna & Jimmy:

Monday morning and we just came home from the cabin!!!! Yesterday after Daddy & I had come home from church and had dinner, John called and said, "Let's go to the cabin". That's all Daddy has to hear and he's in the car - Ha!!! We threw some hot dogs and milk in the cooler and left within half an hour of John's phone call.

We just loved being with John and the cabin is SO comfortable - I love to go there now that the hard work is mostly done and I really believe Daddy could move there for good. He starts with meetings at our home at 8 o'clock Sunday morning and then goes to the church for meetings at 9 and 10 and then we both go at 11:30 and by the time 3 o'clock comes around he has had it!!!! That has been his life for at least forty years and it is understandable why he likes to get away - no one is forcing him to have those callings - he wouldn't have it any other way.

We had a surprise when we went to John's apartment to pick him up. He came out with this huge suitcase and I teased him, saying we were just going to spend one night. Well - he has bought a portable computer - a Macintosh like yours Roy. It was SO much fun to watch him use it last night at the cabin. He put the floor plan of the cabin with the proposed deck on the computer and will have it printed so Daddy can give it to the building committee. It is absolutely fascinating to Daddy and me to see all the things he can do on the computer. We are proud of him - he went to the Lehi bank and got a personal loan all on his own. It is so smart for him to build up a credit line like that. He has paid off his car so dependably but it hasn't really helped his credit because Daddy had to put the car in his name in order to get insurance for it. We are thrilled that John is so intrigued with computers because that is certainly the way of the future, isn't it??

John had an 11 o'clock class so we left early - Daddy had an excuse to fix pancakes and it was fun to awaken with the smell of breakfast. It was really cold in Scofield and when we got back home this morning it was cold here too - I even have the furnace turned on.

Daddy found an old iron wheel base at a junk yard over in Lehi and it is perfect for the fire pit at the cabin - we even built a fire in it last night to cook the hot dogs. He also took a lot of sheets of plywood up so he can floor the bottom of the skunk room. Bob has next weekend off so he and Daddy are going to the cabin (probably Thursday night) - I wish they would just fish or go on the four wheeler but knowing Daddy they will probably do some work. Daddy is anxious to get started on the deck!!!!

Daddy & I went to Brigham City for Peach Days on Saturday. We had planned to go on Friday but he found out they only had the parade on one day and that was Saturday. I really loved being there - the first time since Daddy & I got married. One of our friends is running for Mayor (Les Dunn) and they had seats for us right by the reviewing stand - his wife Marion told me she had taken the chairs up the night before so they would have a good spot. Jake Garn and his wife were in the parade - they were the only dignitaries. After the parade we went to the Idle Isle for lunch - I have told Daddy for months that I was going to the Peach Days Parade and to the Idle Isle for lunch with him or without him - Ha!!!! Then we went across the street and had a huge piece of dutch oven peach cobbler and ice cream - we were stuffed but happy!!!! Then we went to see Dee & Judy - they had a lot of company but we enjoyed visiting with them. Dee had just repaired the ceiling in one of his boy's rooms - the evaporative cooler had leaked so much that during the night the whole ceiling collapsed - Drake was asleep when it happened but he didn't get hurt. My parents' home is still for sale - Dee is asking $50,000.00 for it but no one is interested. It is definitely a buyer's market there now with so many being laid off at Thiokol.

We stopped in to visit with Bob & Claire and their family on our way home - they are doing so good. Little Laura has had a permanent and she is darling and SO happy. I was very impressed with Claire out mowing the lawn - Bob was out working in the yard too but I have NEVER mowed a lawn and it seems so hard. Their yard is beautiful and so is their home. Claire has moved their dinning room furniture out so Bob can have his study there - he really wants a computer for his own personal use.

We visited with Jean & Rick and their family too - the children were having a lemonade stand and that was fun - rice crispier cookies and everything!!!! Jean had decided against having the children come back with us - she says she will let me know when they want to come. Rick is going to have a birthday a week from today - he surely doesn't look his age - Ha!!! Little Barji had gone on a walk with her friends and we passed them and Daddy honked and we stopped - you could tell her friends were quite apprehensive - they have all been warned about strangers!!!

We haven't seen the Woolleys this week. We know they are fine and mighty busy. Ann & Jean are both involved in their big Primary presentations in their wards!!!!

Ramona had planned a party for today - when I talked to her she didn't know if it would be with husbands or just "the girls". When we drove in this morning Winston was here with a note from her telling us that Elaine had just left for Spain - Carol was sick and Shirley had to work for Glen. A little later she called and said Shirley was going to come and would I like to come too - I just said not this time - I have a hard time with things like that. I'm already out of space. We love you all SO much.
