Dearest John; Roy, Patrice & Emily; Bob, Claire, Michael, Laura, Brett & Katie; Rick, Jean, Ricky, Barbara Jean, Mary Ann & Sarah; and Ron, Ann, Susanna, Jessie, Russell, LeeAnna & Jimmy:

A beautiful day in Orem - they're predicting a high of 90 degrees today and if that happens we will try out our new air conditioner!!! I did turn it on last Saturday but it got too cold so l turned it off. I'm sure we will really enjoy it!!

I forgot to mention John's birthday in my letter last week - my party for him didn't materialize but he said he had a happy day. He got a bicycle helmet for his gift and he promise us that he will wear it. The Relief Society President in his ward made him a birthday cake and his friend in Boston sent him a Harvard T-shirt - she sent it Air Express and that was kinda' exciting. He really appreciated your phone call Roy and others who remembered him - I can't believe he is 23 years old!!!!

Bob and Michael came down on Friday morning and went to the cabin with Daddy - they loaded the 4-wheeler in the truck and pulled the fishing boat then John went down in the afternoon in his own car and took his bicycle so they really had a lot of fun. I couldn't believe it when Michael came in on Saturday afternoon and told me they had caught 14 fish - he took them out of the cooler one by one and counted them for me - they are beautiful big trout and daddy said they caught most of them right off the bank. They got the boat dock in the water and I guess that was a BIG job - Daddy is now looking for some new barrels and insulation to make it better. I'm SO glad it's in the water because it is really fun to just sit on it and fish - I like that better than going out in the boat. They said the birds are still there in force - I don't believe they can see beauty in them that Ron can - Ha!!!! Daddy just absolutely loves that place and he hopes everyone will use it - it's a wonderful place for boys!!! John left Scofield earlier than the rest of them - he rode his bike they picked him up later and he had gone 45.8 miles - he was mighty tired and hungry by the time they got home. It was really good to see them all looking so healthy -they were all suntanned, especially Bob!!!

Jeannie & Rick - we haven't heard from you for such a long time. Bob tells us that you are doing fine and I know you keep busy with all your children's activities, work, etc. Don't call us but come down when you get a chance and we MUST plan a time when you can go to the cabin - we can't believe you have never even seen it!!!!

The Woolleys went to Jerome for their family reunion over the weekend - we haven't talked to them but I know they had a good time. It has been quite a long time since Bev & Russ have seen them so I know they loved it - little Jimmy has changed a lot just within the last couple months - he is SO much easier for them now. It's fun for us to see your lives become a little easier as your children grow older - bob & Claire and Roy & Patrice still have some fun but hard years ahead of them and hopefully John will have some of those kind of years too!!!!

We're going to Little Rock this week so we can attend the 20th anniversary of their Stake Organization. Jim Griffin called last night and told Daddy that all three former stake president will be there - Dean Andrew, Daddy & Bob McChesney - it will be a fun time for all of us. They are going to have a special dinner on Saturday night before the evening session and he wanted to invite us to that. I called Dorothy and Dan and they said all their family will be home on Saturday so they invited us for lunch - I told them we would be tending little Emily and they said, "Oh bring her" so if Roy & Patrice will let us we will. Dana has a little girl close to Emily's age - probably a little girl close to Emily's age - probably a little older. Joy Geisler called last night and when I told her we were coming she said, "Oh you will miss Chris & Marc because they are going to Washington" - I had tried to call them but couldn't get them so I assumed they were in Houston. Right after I talked to Joy, Chris called wanted us to use their home - Roy & Patrice too. It was a real temptation to say yes but I decided we would be more comfortable in a motel.

Roy & Patrice - we're anxious to be with you this weekend and we can hardly wait to see Emily - do you think she will remember us? Patrice - we're glad you're home (she got home on Wednesday - and they had had a wonderful time with Grandma Suzie, Joannie & Liz).

Daddy is out trimming his yard now - he's going to mow it tomorrow so it will be in good shape before we leave. John has told us he will care for our home, Hans, etc. Our yard is SO pretty - the flowers are all blooming and Daddy keeps the grass fertilized so it's pretty a green all the time. I wish I had just half the energy Daddy has - we went to our stake Conference meetings on Saturday night just after Daddy got home from his fishing trip and I was tired from doing nothing. Sunday morning he started more meeting at 7 o'clock and then he and seven other High Priests from our ward had to usher at the Conference - I didn't even hear him leave and I just barely made the 10 o'clock meeting. I AM SO SLOW!!!!

I believe that's all the news. We expect to be home by Thursday, June 22nd and we will be staying at the LaQuinta Motel on Shackleford Road on Friday, Saturday and probably Sunday nights. I'm not looking forward to the humidity so we will head for home soon after the conference. I'll take notes so my next letter will be more newsy. Joy did tell us that Brenda Lowe has lung cancer - they just discovered it and she is in the hospital so we will try to go see her. Her daughter Sally Mart and her husband Chris have decided to go into pediatric surgery and will be moving to Pennsylvania soon - they have adopted a little boy.
