Dearest John; Roy, Patrice & Emily; Bob, Claire, Michael, Laura, Brett & Katie; Rick, Jean, Ricky, Barbara Jean, Mary Ann & Sarah; and Ron, Ann, Susanna, Jessie, Russell, LeeAnna & Jimmy:

Thank you all for a WONDERFUL MOTHER'S DAY _ I hope each one of the Mothers in our family had a wonderful day too. We laughed at Jeannie - she said her children had promised her breakfast in bed and "she was going to have to eat it too" - Ann's children and Ron made dinner for Ann and I hope Claire and Patrice were treated royally too!!!! Daddy gave such a good Mother's Day talk at church and the Woolleys all came to be with us - we REALLY appreciated that!!!! The Weinerts invited us to their home but we didn't go because it would have been so late by the time John came home from church. Daddy and John took me to Garcias for Mexican food and then we came home and had brownies. I REALLY appreciate all your beautiful cards and phone calls!!!!

Roy & Patrice - we keep watching the weather news and it sounds like you're having kinda' cool weather for your trip and we're wondering if you were able to float the Buffalo river, Roy and also if you were able to find a good sitter for little Emily - we could never find you home. Chris Jordin called on Saturday and I had the feeling she knew you were in Little Rock - she didn't come right out and say so but I think she did. Did you get to see any of the neighbors? We're anxious to hear from you. Patrice, you will be busy getting ready for your trip to Connecticut soon won't you? Was Emily a good little traveler? I'll bet she was and she'll get better as she gets older. WE JUST LOVED THE PICTURES - the little outfit Emily had on with the ball looks darling - Roy, you look healthier and happier than ever and that makes us happy!!!!

We're both doing fine - I had a touch of stomach flu on Saturday and I haven't had that for a long time but it didn't last long. Daddy talked to Ray this morning and his wife, Carol, has had it too so I guess it's going around. We went to the cabin on Thursday and planned to fish and just relax over the weekend but a really bad storm came up so we came home Friday evening - it started to snow and we envisioned being snowed in and with Daddy scheduled to speak on Sunday morning we thought we had better come home. The cabin is so nice now - WE SURELY HOPE EACH ONE OF YOU WILL USE IT!!!! We're having a hard time scheduling our first family outing there but that doesn't mean individual families can't go on their own. We bought a small electric refrigerator so that makes it nice - it doesn't hold very much but it will be perfect for what we need and a larger one would have taken up too much room.

John will have his nose surgery on May 24th and Bob says he won't feel like doing much for awhile - that would be a good weekend for the cabin and his birthday party but I guess that's out. Bob is off June 10th but that's the Woolley reunion in Idaho, June 17th is the weekend wee may go to Little Rock, June 24th is the High Priest Group Leader's outing at Park City that Daddy and I are invited to - if I have figured it right Bob will be off July 8th - shall we plan for that???  The only thing wrong is that the next weekend is our Lake Powell family outing and I'm wondering if maybe Bob has arranged to change his weekend of the 8th with Dr. Cox.  It's really hard to get us all together but knowing that it is important to us maybe it will work out!!!  Daddy's 69th birth day is August 5th and it's on a Saturday - if we don't get together before that for the cabin maybe we could do it then.  When we are at the cabin in the evenings I think what a wonderful time for our family to be together - it would be something the children would remember forever, I think !!!!

Daddy & I went to Salt Lake last Tuesday and met some of our friends at the Temple - I believe all of you remember Marian & Malcolm Jeppsen - he has been called into the 2nd Quorum of Seventy for the church and he is also a sealer in the Temple. We met in one of the sealing rooms and it was really a special time for all of us - childhood friends, Ellen Mae & Mel Manning, Roberta & Merlin Larsen & Clinton & Aris Holmes. We went out to dinner afterwards. Malcolm has had his medical practice for over thirty years and with his new calling into the church quorum he has had to quit his practice - he told about sending out 17,000 letters to his patients and most of those were to families so the total would be double that and he said it was really hard. He has sold his practice to the Salt Lake Clinic and is ready to serve full time for the church. Daddy & I are going to have a BIG party here on Friday night - those friends and others from Brigham City will come for a picnic dinner on our back lawn. We will have about 26 people and if it storms so we will have to have it inside I will JUST DIE!!!!! Our yard is just gorgeous - Daddy has it manicured and the hill is just beautiful with our Iris in full bloom - I wish you could all see it - it will keep getting prettier as the Summer goes on though because he has planted other flowers. Daddy was mowing our lawn on Saturday - we have our trampoline tied up to the tree so the lawn will grow under it - he said he was watching the mower and ran right into one of the legs of the trampoline. You should see him - he took a big gash out of his nose and skinned his forehead!!!!!

The Woolley's Bishop, neighbor and friend has just been named as the new President of BYU. We were all thrilled to hear the announcement - he spent a full year in a cancer clinic with lymphatic cancer - it is in remission now but I'm sure a constant worry for them. Their youngest daughter, Christie, is a good friend of Susanna's. They will continue to live in their own home instead of moving to the President's home on the campus - I think that's a good decision. I was surprised to learn they have seven children - Ann says three of them are married.

That's all the news. We love each one of you so very much. PLEASE BE VERY CAREFUL IN EVERYTHING YOU DO. Let us know how we can help you!!!!
