Dearest John; Roy, Patrice & Emily; Bob, Claire, Michael, Laura; Brett & Katie; Rick, Jean, Ricky, Barbara Jean, Mary Ann & Sarah; and Ron, Ann, Susanna, Jessie, Russell, LeeAnna & Jimmy:

Another beautiful Spring day in Orem. John called from his apartment a few minutes ago and asked us to look out on the lake to see if it looked windy - I didn't think it did but since he called the wind has come up so I guess he has decided to not risk taking his boat out!!!! That lake can be treacherous when the wind blows and we are SO glad that he is careful!!!!!

Yesterday was a red letter day - we talked to each one of you. Ann helped me with my Relief Society lesson so I was with her for part of the day and just as she was leaving the phone rang and it was Roy - then we walked to Jeannie and later last night both Bob and John called. We know that can't happen often but we love it when it does. You all sound busy and happy and that's the way we like it!!!

Roy & Patrice - we are excited to hear about your plans to buy a van. Roy said they had found a used Volkswagen van they really like - you two would just love that and it would be so much fun for Emily. Some of our happiest memories are the times we camped out as a family and NOW is the time to start doing that - we hope you get it!!!!

Bob - thanks SO much for sending me the prescription for those muscle relaxants. The last prescription I had for those was dated in 1977 so you know I won't abuse them. When I went to get the prescription filled the druggist asked me if I wanted the generic brand - I said no because I wasn't sure. After he started filling it he came and asked me again and then said, "You will REALLY save a lot of money if you get the generic brand with these pills and they will be exactly the same thing" - I thought that was really nice of him. One hundred pills cost about $10.00 and my last prescription was $8.75 for about twenty-five so I guess he was right. Claire - I don't blame you for not wanting to get a baby sitter and spend the afternoon on Saturday with people you don't know (Daddy's niece is having a baby shower for one of her daughters and they invited Ann, Jean, Claire and I). They are anxious to become better acquainted with you but this Saturday when Bob is going to be away just isn't a good time.

Jeannie - your cookie making sounded fun when we talked to you yesterday. That little Barji is such a doll to talk to!!!! We won't blame you if you decide to not come down this Saturday either - Ann says her girls would love to have the "cousins" come to play. The trip from Farmington or Layton to Provo is just long no matter how hard we try to make it shorter!!!!

Annie - I really appreciated your help yesterday. (My lesson was on "Be Of Good Cheer" and I was supposed to emphasize the importance of handling life's crises with good sheer and optimism and I thought of the excellent way the Woolley family handled Jessie's crisis last Summer). I also have appreciated your help with my fingernails (Ann's friend told her about a new method of strengthening fingernails - it involves putting on a acrylic base coat and then putting your nails under an ultra violet light for three minutes - my nails are stronger than they have ever been and I'm excited.)

John - you're in finals this week and we'll keep our fingers crossed. We loved having your friends over for dinner on Friday (we could never ask for nicer and more appreciative young men). We felt bad that the wind came up so we couldn't eat out on the patio as we had planned but that is the way April is in Orem. John had his boat tuned up last week and he seems to think it is running the way it should.

The trip Lake Powell this weekend sounds like a lot of fun to me and I'm so glad the fathers and sons will be together to fish and do whatever they want - Daddy is really looking forward to it. I don't think the fishing will be very good but it doesn't seem to matter to Daddy whether or not he catches any just so he can put his line in the water.

We went to the cabin on Saturday and put some pictures up - it really is a cute and clean place to go now and I hope Daddy will spend time fishing and just enjoying it. I guess the next big job will be to put the boat ramp in the water - I think they will let us use the big tractor or something that is kept up there for things like that. we sold the gas refrigerator that was there and will buy a small electric one - in fact, Daddy has been out looking for one today. HE REALLY LOVES TO GO TO THE CABIN!!!! I love it too now that it is clean.

We're going to have our friends over to play cards tonight - one of the men has nicknamed it "The Sinful Scripture Study Group" - that's about right because we do nothing but eat sinful food - I have made two desserts and each one is sinfully rich!!!! I hope they don't eat all of it because we're going to have Daddy's sisters and their husbands over for dinner tomorrow night and I'll use whatever is left to serve them - Ha!!!!

That's all the news. We love each one of you so very much. PLEASE BE VERY CAREFUL IN EVERYTHING YOU DO. Let us know how we can help you.
