Dearest Johnny; Roy; Patrice & Emily; Bob, Claire, Michael, Laura, Brett & Katie; Rick, Jean, Ricky, Barbara Jean, Mary Ann & Sarah; and Ron, Ann, Susanna, Jessie, Russell, LeeAnna & Jimmy:

I'm writing my letter on Sunday afternoon this week because Daddy & I are going to go to the cabin later today. We had planned to go tomorrow and stay until Tuesday but we had forgotten about our little card group that meets tomorrow night SO we're going today and will come back tomorrow. Daddy likes to spend the night there so he can get up at the crack of dawn and start working!!!!

We are having the most beautiful Spring weather - as Ann says, it isn't shorts weather yet but it's a lot warmer than it has been. It was fun to talk to you yesterday, Roy & Patrice, but it's hard for us to realize you already have your air conditioner on. Your trip to Johnson City sounded fun - (that's the home town of Lyndon Johnson and it's about 75 miles from San Antonio) - we think you are very smart to sight see all the places close to where you live. We can't believe that little Emily is walking and Patrice says she is talking in her own way too - we don't want her to grow up without us!!!! We're thrilled about your plans to visit your Mom, Patrice (she and Emily are going to Connecticut the last week in May & first week in June) - Emily has changed a lot since your Mom saw her at Christmas time!!!!

Claire, thanks for your sweet letter and Bob, I loved the cartoon - that's me all right!!!!! (Bob cut a cartoon from the newspaper about a wife taking a picture of her husband scowling while he was changing a tire). I would take a lot more pictures if people wouldn't scowl at me - Ha!!!! Daddy's tomatoes are planted but he doesn't think they are doing very well - how are yours doing?

John and some of his friends have been water skiing at Utah Lake. They were here for a little while yesterday but Daddy & I had to go into Salt Lake and they had already gone skiing and brought the boat home by the time we got back - I don't believe they skied (sp.?) for very long. We're SO happy that John has been able to insure his boat - he said there was a minor technicality last Summer about not wanting to insure it for more than $5,000 and when he got that cleared up they insured it for him. Daddy & I are really proud that John is a "doer" - he has so many interests and keeps busy all the time!!!!

We haven't heard from the Weinerts this week but we know they're doing fine and are really busy. The Woolleys are fine - Ron was out of down all last week but got home on Saturday and spent the day planting more shrubs, etc. Jessie has a contact lens for her other eye now - the doctor said he didn't usually fit a child that young with contact lens but she handled it so well that he wanted her to have it to prevent one eye from beginning to be stronger than the other one - I think I have that right!!!! They are getting ready to celebrate Jessie's birthday - she said she is going to have a bowling party on Saturday. Will Jessie be 9 or 10 - I can't remember???? AND will Jeannie be 36 or 37 next Sunday???? That's something when you can't even remember how old your own children are!!!!!

Daddy & I went to the cabin last Thursday and worked until Friday night - in fact we didn't get home until almost midnight. Daddy put in all new windows in the kitchen - they are SO nice. I hated the old ones because flies could come through them and then they would die between the glass and the screen and it was SO repulsive to have in the kitchen. The new ones will be able to be opened too and the old ones couldn't open. He also paneled about half the kitchen. We bought some ceiling tile so we will tile the ceiling tomorrow and get as much more of the paneling done as we can. Daddy really wants to go alone but I won't let him - when there are more people in the camp, he will enjoy going by himself but he could get hurt now and no one would even know it. Last Friday afternoon a young couple walked into our cabin and asked for help - they were in a camper and had slid off the road into a mud ravine. Daddy went to where they were stuck to see if we could help them but our van couldn't have pulled them out so. I drove them in to Scofield. I just left them and said we would check on them when we were ready to go home to see if they were still there but they weren't. They said they would try to call and get some help and I guess they did but their camper was still stuck when we left. We didn't have any trouble with our four-wheel drive but I wouldn't go up there in anything else.

I can't think of anymore news. We surely do love each one of you so very much. PLEASE BE VERY CAREFUL IN EVERYTHING YOU DO. Let us know how we can help you.
