Dearest Johnny; Roy, Patrice & Emily; Bob, Claire, Michael, Laura, Brett & Katie; Rick, Jean, Ricky, Barbara Jean, Mary Ann & Sarah; and Ron, Ann, Susanna, Jessie, Russell, LeeAnna & Jimmy:

Wow!!!! A snow storm - at least that's what the weather news tells us. It's so funny - for the last hour they have been saying what a wet and nasty day it is and it is just beautiful here. It's windy and cloudy but so far we don't have any snow -'course it's just 8:30 a.m. too and I'm sure it's on its way. I guess Charlie Gibson on Good Morning America comes to Utah to ski because he has been saying how happy it is that Utah is getting snow - we would be SO happy if it snows a lot this week so Roy & Patrice could get in a little skiing.

I'm writing this early this morning because Daddy & I have to go buy some tarps and cover the trailer and the camper over in Lehi. We had a good one on the trailer but it has torn and has to be replaced - even the best of those only last a year!!!! Daddy also thinks one of the pipes in the trailer has frozen - not enough to break it and he wants to thaw it and put anti-freeze in it before it gets and colder. He put anti-freeze throughout the system but that one pipe was clogged. That trailer is SO nice and we really wish you kids would use it - we could sell it but it is worth more than the $1,500 we could get from it - WE THINK!!

Yesterday was Bob's birthday - we talked to him last night and he said he had a Happy Day!!! I can't believe we have children THAT OLD - Ha!!!! We are SO proud of him - Daddy had a checkup visit with Dr. Flanders last Wednesday and we stopped in to see Bob and his office was filled with patients but we visited for a little while. Then we went to see Claire and the children (only Brett and Katie were home).

Dr. Flanders says that Daddy is doing great - he is feeling better each day and has used good sense in taking care of himself. He said this morning that he can sleep on his stomach now for the first time for over a year -his neck is better and now his hernia doesn't hurt.

Roy & Patrice - we can hardly wait to have you come and especially that little Emily. I know she will throw us a curve and won't want to have anything to do with us for the first little while but we're hoping to win her over. Claire loaned us their car seat (she said they are using an infant one) and also a portable crib and Ann said she has a jumper that attaches to a door frame she'll loan us so we should be set up.

Jeannie - we called you when we were there but you were gone- I'm sure you were working. It was so fun to have Rick come down to visit with us. We are keeping our fingers crossed for you to get the home of your dreams - what a stressful time!!!!! PaPa loved having Ricky call him yesterday morning to get some genealogy names - (he is working on his Duty to God award and didn't know the maiden name for Granny Mellor).

Johnny is doing fine - he went to a cabin down in Scofield Saturday and Sunday. It was fairly close to where our cabin is so they went over to our cabin - he thinks it looks really nice now with the carpet. Johnny and two of his friends have a business - they have business cards with MCL imprinted on them for Mellor, Conley and Lant. He'll have to tell you about it.

Daddy has wanted to go to the cabin all week but I wouldn't let him - I just knew that if he went he would do some lifting that he shouldn't do. He wanted to get that skunk room cleaned up before Roy & Patrice see it. The last time we were there we put carpet down in two rooms and we were so tired when we left that we didn't do any cleaning.

Daddy & I went to the Primary Sacrament Presentation in Ann & Rons' ward yesterday. It was a beautiful program - Jessie played an "obbligato" during part of it and she did a super job - I still can't believe that little child can do that. Do you remember Joan Doxey - she was there because her little grand daughter had a part in it too - it was fun to see her and she wanted to know all about Jessie - their daughter Cindy plays the violin but she didn't even start until she was 10 years old and they were very, very impressed!!!!

Cissy & Charles Beyers have been in Centerville for the past ten days and they have called us to try to find a time to come see us. Well - we told them we didn't have to go to our meetings until 2 o'clock so they called when they got to Orem yesterday about 12:30 and we had already decided to go to Ann & Rons' ward so they said they would come by after we got home about 5. To make a long story short - they couldn't stay that long so we missed them. I called them at Shawna's home in Centerville last night and we had a good visit - Steve is a Bishop in Fort Smith.

We had a "funny" party here last Wednesday. We had invited all the High Priests and their wives to meet at the temple at 6 o'clock and then bring their favorite pie and come here after for pie and ice cream. Well - we had six of us at the temple but only four came here after and only one of them brought a pie and then about 9:30 two more couples came and they didn't bring pies either. It's hard for me to figure this ward out!!! We had expected at least 20 - there were 60 invited!!!!

I gave a talk at a meeting in Provo last week. One of our former lady missionaries teaches a class in one of the wards there and she asked me to do it. In introducing me she said the thing she remembered the most about me was the way I worked in the yard at the mission home digging in the dirt BUT I was always dressed nicely - WHAT A DUMB THING TO BE REMEMBERED FOR!!!! We Love each one of you so very much - PLEASE BE CAREFUL IN THING YOU DO!

THE BIG NEWS FOR THIS LETTER IS SO WONDERFUL AND I FORGOT IT!!!!

BOB PASSED HIS MEDICAL BOARD EXAMINATION WITH FLYING COLORS. HE PASSED THE PHARMACOLOGY PART OF IT WITH 100 PERCENT!!!!! HE PASSED THE WHOLE THING IN THE TOP 1/3 SO HE DOESN'T HAVE TO TAKE THE ORAL PART OF IT.

WE ARE ALL VERY PROUD OF YOU BOB.
