Dearest Johnny; Roy, Patrice & Emily; Bob, Claire, Michael, Laura, Brett & Katie; Rick, Jean, Ricky, Barbara Jean, Mary Ann & Sarah; and Ron, Ann, Susanna, Jessie, Russell, LeeAnna & Jimmy:

Monday morning and another beautiful day - the leaves are all falling and they are such a bright yellow color that our yard looks all "it up".

We had a fun "family day" yesterday. Bob gave Katie her blessing in church - their church starts at 11 o'clock and the blessings are all right after the opening prayer. Johnny had called us from Salina (down by Manti) at 8 o'clock yesterday morning and promised us that he would make it in time but for us to go on without him. All the way to Layton, Daddy kept saying "there is no way Johnny will get there in time". The Woolleys couldn't stay for dinner because the children are all in a big Primary program and their last practice was yesterday and since Ann is Primary President she said it would be very "irresponsible" for her to have her children miss the practice and she was right. They wanted to come so Ron could participate in the blessing but we all knew they would have to leave and go back right after Sacrament meeting. Well - they announced the Mellor baby blessing the Bob, Daddy, Rick, their home teacher and the Bishopric all went to the front and Bob introduced everyone and they were all ready when here came Johnny running in - Bob introduced him and then Bob blessed her. We all kept looking for the Woolleys and almost one minute after it was over, here they came!!!! It was a special time for all of us and even with the funny things that happened we could all say, "IT WAS A MEMORY". I will never forget seeing Johnny "just barely make it"!!! Bob did a beautiful job and little Katie was just darling in a pretty green dress.

Daddy, Johnny, Bob & Katie, Rick, Jeannie & Barji and I all went back to Bob & Claires' home right after Sacrament Meeting - the rest of them stayed for Sunday School, Priesthood, Relief Society and Primary. The Woolleys headed back to Provo. We had such a wonderful time visiting and then we all had dinner together about 2 o'clock. The "cousins" all enjoy each other so much and it is great to have them get together. Bob & Claires' home is SO nice and their floor plan is perfect for get togethers like that.

Daddy is feeling "pretty good" - he will tell you he is feeling "fantastic" but I can tell by looking at him that he isn't. He says he doesn't hurt one bit as long as he is sitting in his favorite chair with his feet on the ottoman - we went to the library and got him some more books - he is on the Zane Grey books now - he had read all the Louis Amour ones. His surgery went really good and he spent last Monday night with Bob and then I went up and brought him home on Tuesday morning. He has to go back to the doctor on Wednesday for a check-up.

We have loved talking to you this week, Roy & Patrice, (Roy told me they had "lost" Emily for a few seconds - they sat down for dinner and she was nowhere in sight - she had crawled behind some furniture!!!!) She will need constant watching now until she gets three years old - sorry about that - Ha!!!! Our children were all so responsible almost from the very day of their third birthday but before that it is really time consuming. Roy - I keep forgetting to ask you about your flight training - are you still in that? It will be great to get caught up on things like that when you come. We think it is great that the anesthesia conference is going to be at Snowbird in February - we will be thrilled to care for Emily and we don't blame you for wanting to stay in Snowbird. I JUST HOPE THERE WILL BE SNOW IN SNOWBIRD. Surely there will be in February - right now we can see on Timpanogos but it is really dry in the Valley.

Johnny went with a group of his friends to Grover - that is West of Manti. Some of his friends' parents own a home there - we used to call it a cabin but after hearing him describe it, it is definitely a home - three bathrooms, five bedrooms, etc., etc. He took Daddy's four-wheeler and his mountain bike and they really had a good time - they went on Friday evening and then he came home yesterday morning to go to Bobs - the rest of them stayed down until last night. He said he saw a lot of deer and some of them four-pointers - wouldn't you know it, after the hunting season!!!!

Little Barji had quite an unfortunate experience last Friday. She had been practicing for a long, long time to be in her school's play of "Oliver". It was to be presented on Friday & Saturday nights and then again tonight. Ann and I were already to go see it on Friday night when Jeannie called us about 3 o'clock - they evidently had built a bridge as a prop in the play and during the rehearsal it collapsed and three of the children fell from it - one broke his leg and the other two had neck injuries so they cancelled the play for Friday night. Jeannie said they did put it on Saturday and will do it again tonight. We feel bad that we didn't get to see it - she showed us the program yesterday and "it was a big deal"!!!! Barji was one of the orphans and I know she was a "STAR"!!!!

Tomorrow is election day and it will be interesting to listen to the television coverage of the results. I guess Bush will win-if he gets a landslide I think it will be quite remarkable with all the controversy over Dan Quayle. Daddy and I think it is really a Reagan mandate. It is going to be interesting to see who wins the governor's race here in Utah - we think it will be Bangerter again. Everyone is predicting Wilson will but we think when it comes right down to it, people will vote for Bangerter.

That's all the news. We love each one of you so very much. please be very careful in everything you do.
