Dearest Johnny; Roy, Patrice & Emily; Bob, Claire, Michael, Laura, Brett & Katie; Rick, Jean, Ricky, Barbara Jean, Mary Ann & Sarah; and Ron, Ann, Susanna, Jessie, Russell, LeeAnna & Jimmy:

This week is "Birthday Week" in our family - Susanna is ten years old today and both Roy & Patrice celebrate their birthdays tomorrow. We wish you all a very Happy Birthday. I can't believe we have a ten year old grand daughter but when I think about it many of our friends have teenage and even married grandchildren - Daddy and I will never be able to put ourselves in the right age bracket - Ha!!!

Daddy & I went to take Susanna a little birthday gift last night and I about fainted when we walked into their home. Jimmy had been hit in the head with a ball bat just about half an hour before we got there and you just wouldn't believe how bad it looks - he had a huge black bump on the top of his head. Their family was playing ball in their back yard and little LeeAnna was up to bat and just as she came down with her swing, Jimmy walked right in front of the bat. Ann had called their doctor and he told them the things to look for and then told them to just put ice on it - we called this morning and he is just fine and back ice on it - we called this morning and he is just fine and back to normal with that ugly bump on his head. Things like that happen so quickly and their family is right at that age where everything imaginable happens. Other than that, they are doing fine and Susanna was excited about her birthday and making plans for a little birthday party. They all talked about how happy they were that LeeAnna was at bat instead of Russell - Ha!!!

Roy & Patrice - thank you so much for those beautiful pictures!!! I just want to grab that little Emily out of the picture and hug her - what a doll!!! We think she is a perfect combination of both of you - we are getting SO anxious to have you all here. I worry a little because Emily will be right at that stage where she will be afraid of strangers so we will have to be careful until she gets acquainted. I will never forget when we took Ann home for her first visit my folks and Grandpa Forrest came at her with spoons in a glass shaking them and it scared her to death and she wouldn't have a thing to do with him for a long, long time.

Jeannie & Rick - what a FUN surprise yesterday!!! I was already for church except for my dress and was just studying our Sunday School lesson and Daddy was at church in one of his meetings when the doorbell rang and the Weinerts were at our front door. They had brought their boat down to store on our Lehi lot and then came by to visit for a little while. WE LOVED IT!!!! Daddy didn't get to see them except for about five minutes. The children were all so excited still about their trip to Disneyland and told us all about it. (Mary Ann left her Mickey Mouse sunglasses here and we'll send them.) I forgot to tell you in my last letter that Rick had had his wallet stolen while he was in Boise, Idaho - he has all gold credit cards and after he got those and his checking account all stopped they found his wallet and all that was taken was about $50 in cash. That is the second experience they have had like that - they mush look rich - Ha!!!

Bob - Claire - it has been fun to see and talk to you this week (actually we have just talked to Claire on the phone). Bob came down on Friday afternoon to go deer hunting with Daddy & John. Bob looks so good and this hunting trip was a realization of a dream Daddy has had all his life - going deer hunting with his sons. He said many times how much he wished Roy could have come too - Roy doesn't like to hunt but for all the hunting they did he would have enjoyed it as much as they did. They left here about 2 o'clock Friday afternoon and were home about 2 o'clock Saturday afternoon - WITHOUT A DEER!!!! When they left they said would probably not come home until Sunday. I guess there were so many hunters in the area where they were that it was not only dangerous, but the chance of them getting a deer was practically nil. They went to the cabin but didn't stay there - they hunted in an area by Thistle.

Johnny and his friend, John Lant, left last night with the truck and camper and four-wheeler to go hunting again. They were going in an area up somewhere from Provo canyon - the way they described it, it was just East of where the Woolleys live. I hope so much that they have a good time and don't get hurt. Johnny has been hunting a lot in Montana but I don't think his friend has had that much experience. Our weather is just absolutely gorgeous so it will be fun for them to just be in the outdoors. Johnny just loves things like that it's good for him. I want them to go hunting in West Canyon over in Lehi but I can't get them interested in that. School is out today for the deer hunt - we can tell UVCC is out too because there aren't any cars in their parking lot.

We're waiting for the "Fence Man" - he said he would be her at 11:30 this morning and it is now almost 1 o'clock and he still isn't here. I hope he is smarter at building fences than he is in finding addresses. Our neighbors tell us that the college kids have pot parties on our trampoline when we're gone so it will be good to get it fenced and the gates locked.

Daddy & I went to the cabin for several days last week - he put up the rail for the stairway and also put down some carpet. It is a fun place to go - Daddy called to me about ten o'clock one night and I was ready for bed but I went outside and there were eight deer in our yard. They really ran away fast when Hans started after them.

We will have our FAMILY PICTURE TAKEN on Tuesday, November 22nd, at 7 p.m. We got the calendar out while Bob was here and he said that would be best for them. We love each one of you so very much. PLEASE BE CAREFUL IN EVERYTHING YOU DO - let us know how we can help you.
