Dearest Johnny; Roy & Patrice & Emily; Bob, Claire, Michael, Laura, Brett & Katie; Rick, Jean, Ricky, Barbara Jean, Mary Ann & Sarah; and Ron, Ann, Susanna, Jessie, Russell, LeeAnna & Jimmy:
It's Monday afternoon and the house is so quiet I probably won't be able to think of things to write about. Daddy & Ray went to the cabin this morning and they will stay overnight - Daddy was so excited he was up and ready to go at six o'clock. They took their four - wheelers and plan to spend most of the time riding through the mountains and doing a little fishing - the fishing hasn't been too good down there lately. Daddy & I went down for a couple days last week and he put in eight windows and did a lot of painting - it is beginning to shape up but there is still a lot to do. They still hadn't connected us up to electricity and Daddy fussed at them so they got us a long extension cord and he plugged in to the unit at the "clubhouse". They came while we were there and inspected everything he and Bob had done and gave us a "green sticker" which means it had been approved. It really is a beautiful place and Daddy loves it!!!!
The big news for this week is that the Weinerts have moved from their beautiful home into a very small motel apartment - they even have their dog with them and he is big!!!! Ron & Johnny went up on Saturday morning and helped with the move - Bob was also there as well as a lot of their friends. I wanted Daddy to go with them but he decided not to - I really believe he was tired from all the work he had done at the cabin. I talked to Jeannie yesterday morning and she said they were having an "adventure" and it was going to be just fine - I think it is wonderful because it will give them the opportunity they need to really look around and find exactly the home they want without any pressure. Ricky, Barji & Mary Ann all started school this morning so they will get into a routine and they won't be spending a lot of time in the motel - Sarah will be going to pre-school three days a week so they will be fine.
The next big news is that Hans was hit by a car and had his leg broken. Last Wednesday Daddy & I were just about to leave for the cabin when the doorbell rang and a young man was at the door holding Hans - he said he had run under his car and he couldn't stop in time. We really appreciated that young man stopping. We hurried and took him to the Vet and he told us to call back at 11 - it was about 8:30 then. We decided to go on to the cabin and Johnny said he would "handle it". when we called Johnny from Scofield the next morning he said the Vet had told him it was a clean break without any internal injuries and he would release him the next day - we have A LOT invested in that little dog - Ha! It was a good lesson for us to learn - we will probably have to fence our yard because it just isn't fair to put him on a rope all the time - we thought he was good to stay in the back yard but it is obvious he was wandering more than we thought!!!
Annie came over this morning for a little visit. We cared for Jimmy, LeeAnna & Russell on Saturday and they were SO good - they just played outside most of the time. They had their church party on Saturday night and their patio and yard was just beautiful - they said they had a big crowd. Jessie doesn't have to wear her patch anymore except when she is doing active things like gymnastics - the doctor says she doesn't have to restrict her activities completely any more but to still be careful. They are going to take her to a pediatric cornea specialist in Salt Lake this week - I hope they get some really good news!!!!
We talked to Roy last night - they had spent a long weekend in Dallas with friends and had had a good time. He said that little Emily is such a good traveler and just goes wherever they go - we think that is SO neat!!! We missed talking to you Patrice - Roy said you were doing fine. It won't be long until your weather will be turning cooler - I'm surprised that Dallas was hotter than San Antonio.
We're anxious to hear how Michael likes his new school - that is quite an adjustment for him but he probably has already made a lot of friends in his neighborhood who will go with him. How is your yard landscaping coming Bob & Claire? Jeannie said they appreciated you helping them so much when you were having work done on your own yard.
Daddy's eye is much better. He goes back to Dr. Oaks on Friday and we're hoping he will think it's better too. He also goes to Dr. Middleton this week - on Thursday - I always am so apprehensive when we go to him because he has that blood test run that determine whether or not the cancer is more active. Daddy feels just great and looks wonderful. He gave part of the lesson in our Sunday School class yesterday and after the class a lady came up to me and said, "Have they arrested his cancer? He looks better than he has since you moved here". They have just called him to be the High Priest Group Leader for our Ward - that is an ideal calling for him - he will do a great job. He has so much ability in doing the things he enjoys doing and not one bit of ability in doing the things he doesn't enjoy doing - Ha!!!!
Johnny started school this morning. He has decided to stay at home until he can find exactly the situation he wants to move into. We would love to have him stay here permanently - it's so fun to have him and his friends come here. He has a darling girl friend who is an excellent cook - she made stir fry last week and it was delicious. He has bought him a "mountain bike" and has been riding that a lot lately.
I believe that's all the news. We love each one of you so very much - PLEASE BE VERY CAREFUL IN EVERYTHING YOU DO. Let us know how we can help you.
