Dearest Johnny; Roy & Patrice; Bob, Claire, Michael, Laura & Brett; Rick, Jean, Ricky, Barbara Jean, Mary Ann & Sarah; and Ron, Ann, Susanna, Jessie, Russell, LeeAnna & Jimmy:

It's Sunday night and Johnny & Daddy & I just came home from a drive out to the Provo Marina at Utah Lake. It is really a beautiful place and it was so cool and nice to walk along the lake - we had planned to feed the ducks but it was a little late and they weren't by the shore.

The big news for this week is Ricky's baptism yesterday. The Woolleys went to Farmington early and took all the children to the water slide and then we all met at the church at 4:15 for the services. Johnny gave a talk on baptism and PaPa gave a talk on the Holy Ghost - all the little children sang a beautiful song (it was really special with different parts and we could tell there had been a lot of practicing). Rick gave Ricky a beautiful blessing and we were SO proud of everyone!!! After the baptism we went back to the Weinerts for a "cookout" and visiting and we just loved every minute of it - in fact, we enjoyed it so much we stayed until 8 o'clock and it was late for everyone to get home and get ready for church today. The cousins love each other so much it is just a joy to be around them and they were all so interested in Ricky's baptism and of course he was the perfect gentleman with every hair in place!!!!

We have two new cars in our garage - HOW ABOUT THAT!!!! We really spent most of all last week shopping for cars - I had no idea it would take so long to buy a car. We really hadn't intended to buy one for Papa and me but it was the end of the month and they gave us such a good deal on a new Camry we just decided to DO It. It is a bluish grey car with red stripes on it and it has some fancy features like those automatics seat belts for the front seats - we really like it. Johnny shopped around and I believe he looked at every model car that is made and had decided on a Honda Accord but right at the last minute the Volkswagen dealers gave him such a good deal on the Jetta that he couldn't resist it. That was the car he wanted all along but other people tried to influence him towards the Honda. The Jetta is more his type (he said the Toyota and Honda cars were more for Grandpas - Ha!) his is white trimmed in black and has some fancy features on it too - four doors, fog lights, sun roof, etc., etc.!!! we drove our car to Farmington yesterday and around town and we just filled it up to check the gas mileage and we got 40 miles per gallon - that probably won't last.

Daddy is doing much better!!! He went to the urologist in Salt Lake on Thursday and got a good report - he has to call in later this week to get the results of the acid phosphates test and we hope that is normal. I don't know what they will do if it isn't!!!! His coloring is much better and he seems stronger - he stayed in church for the full three hours this morning and taught the Single Adult class with vigor so I believe he is "on the mend". He still gets really tired and has a hard time sitting down for very long but I'm sure that's normal.

We all went to your cousin's wedding reception on Friday night - Carolyn Crawford's daughter, Patrice Perkes (one of the twins). It was a beautiful reception held in their home and backyard. When I went through the receiving line I looked at the groom's mother and thought she looked familiar - come to find out, she is the daughter of my parents' best friends and I kinda' grew up with her. It's a small world. They were all so thrilled to see Johnny and we were so proud to have him with us.

Johnny is doing just great and is getting his room in shape after going through all his drawers and discarding lots of "junk". He had to speak at a Stake Baptism on Saturday morning and our ward is planning to have his Welcome Home this next Sunday - I wish our whole family could be here for that. It is just wonderful to have him home - he thinks we should turn on our air conditioner and things like that but we're just old fashioned and he doesn't seem to mind too much. We all went over to the Woolleys tonight and it was so much fun to sit out on their deck and visit little Jimmy is right on the verge of walking!!! Annie made brownies to take to Farmington yesterday and put them in the freezer to set the frosting and forgot them so we helped eat them today.

It was good to talk to you today Bob. We hope your folks are coping with the Tennessee heat Claire (Bob said the heat index was close to 120 degrees today with the high temperatures and humidity). It's great they are getting ready to retire and will be able to travel like they want. Little Laura will have a birthday in a week - three years old - it doesn't seem possible that it has been that long since we were in Montana and the missionaries tracked us down to tell us about her arrival.

Roy & Patrice - it was good to talk to you this week too. You are having some hot days too. We hope so much that you are liking your new home and neighborhood and just everything. Dianne & Garry came by to see us and they loved seeing the wedding pictures we had - they said San Antonio was one of their favorite places to live and they have lived all over. That's a darling family and they wanted us to tell you hello.

The Corpiers from Arkansas came by to see us too but we were gone. They had called and said they would be here the first of the week and didn't come until Thursday when we had gone to Salt Lake to see the doctor. I was sick to have missed them - they are special friends and we haven't seen them for a long, long time. Joy Geisler called this afternoon and we had a good visit. It's so funny - our friends in Little Rock and Montana have called and written so much and Daddy went to the High Priest's meeting today for the first time in three months and they acted as if they hadn't even missed him - Ha!!!!
