Dearest Johnny; Roy & Patrice; Bob, Claire, Michael, Laura & Brett; Rick, Jean, Ricky, Barbara Jean, Mary Ann & Sarah; and Ron, Ann, Susanna, Jessie, Russell, LeeAnna & Jimmy:

It's Sunday evening and the Woolleys and Weinerts just left after visiting with us about their trip to Lake Powell. They came by to "report" and also to pick up little Jimmy - we have had a fun time with him this week and he has been so good!!! They had wonderful weather in Lake Powell and no problems with the houseboat or Rick's boat and all in all I guess it was a marvelous vacation - we're so thrilled to have them back home without any mishaps - I always worry with that many little children BUT they were so excited and all tried to talk at once to tell us all about everything. They went further than we have ever gone and saw the Indian ruins and other places we'll have to go the next time.

Johnny - HOW EXCITING!!!!! We received confirmation from Murdock Travel Agency about your reservations to come home - you will arrive in Salt Lake at 12:27 p.m. on July 23rd. We also received the loveliest letter from Pres. & Sister Taylor telling us about the wonderful job you have done as an Assistant and how much they will miss you. They also told us that you were really worried about your Father and they admired you so much because you were still being the outstanding missionary you had always been and you were such a great example to all the other missionaries. Johnny - we are so proud of you and knowing all that is the best medicine in the world for Daddy - it would really make him feel bad if he thought you would let down in your missionary labors. AND your BYU Bishop, Joe White, called yesterday and he was so cute - he said, "I just remembered that today is Johnny's birthday and I had to call and ask about him". Wow!!!!! What an impression you make on people - to have a Bishop who deals with hundreds of young people remember your birthday after two years of being in his ward!!!! He wanted to know when you were coming home and where you planned to live next year while going to school - I believe he was a little disappointed when I told him we hoped you would live at home. He said they had had two graduates this year - a daughter just graduated from the BYU School of Law and the younger daughter from High School. They are such nice, nice people!!!! DID YOU HAVE A HAPPY BIRTHDAY????? Daddy and I thought about you all day and talked about you and how happy we will be to have you home from such a wonderful, successful mission!!!!!!

Bob & Claire - we will be thinking about you this next week and hopping you are having lots and lots of fun on the beach in Alabama!!!! (Bob called this afternoon and said they were leaving in the morning to go to Gulf Shores so their children could play on the beach). We think it is wonderful for you to take time to be with your children like that and it's so nice that both of you like things like that - will you stay in a Motel, I hope!!!! I can just envision all the "cousins" playing together on the beach - the Utah cousins love Lake Powell so I'm sure they would love the ocean too and they would love being with Michael, Laura & Brett.

Roy & Practice - we really appreciate your calling us - it's so much fun to hear about all your plans - the wedding plans, the moving plans, the Air Force training plans - you have a mighty exciting month ahead of you!!!! I wish we could be of more help to you but then you have been doing things on your own for a long, long time and have gotten along beautifully!!!! Right now I can't think of anything we could possibly enjoy more than to be with you for your marriage and we are looking forward to it so much and so are the Woolleys, Weinerts and Bob - we wish Johnny and Claire could be with us too!!!! Johnny evidently had told his Mission President about it because in his letter to us he wrote his congratulations for our new daughter-in-law!!!!

I guess the big news we have is that our Leawood Home has sold. We heard that they were asking $137,000.00 for it and Dorothy Woods said, "They will never get it", and just about the next day we had a letter from them saying it had sold and that it was a "cash" sale so they must have come close to that amount. They expect to close the first of August and we are assuming they will pay us off. They have been very dependable and it is doubtful that we will be able to get 10% interest but we are going to try to find a good investment for it. Any suggestions?????

Daddy's radiation treatments are going fine - he has had a full week of them now. He says it's really scary - they put him under this big machine and turn it on and everyone runs out of the room. He is going to get some help for the diarrhea he is having - I believe they can give him something to stop that. He feels just wonderful except for that and he is the picture of health. He got some new glasses and he is enjoying reading in the den -
our window there looks out on Utah Lake and it's such a joy to be there and enjoy everything. The eye doctor told him that there were lots of people who would trade anything they had for his eyes and he said, "I'll trade my good eyes for a good prostate" - Ha!!!

Chris & Wayne just called us and we talked about our trip to Alaska - they want to come to Utah the latter part of July and visit for awhile with other friends here before we leave. I'm sure they want to get away from that humid heat in Alabama and I don't blame them. They are just like family and will fit in anytime.

We had Stake Conference this morning and we have a new Stake Presidency - Johnny, you won't know anyone anyway, will you??

I can see I am about out of space so I'll quit. We love each one of you so very much and we're so proud of you. PLEASE BE VERY CAREFUL IN EVERYTHING YOU DO - Let us know how we can help you!
