Dearest Johnny; Roy; Bob, Claire, Michael & Laura; Rick, Jean, Ricky, Barbara Jean & Mary Ann; and Ron, Ann, Susanna, Jessie, Russell & Lee Anna:
We just came home from the Stake Conference here in Billings. It was the Regional Representative Conference and Tyler Woolley from Fort Collins was here - he worked at the college in Fort Collins with Daddy when we were first married so we have known him for a long time. Daddy spoke and just gave a wonderful talk. Johnny - the two youth speakers were Darl Webster and Joel Stott - they just finished the state basketball tournaments here last night and Senior was in the finals but lost their last two games, I believe - Joel was one of their star players and I'm sure he was a little disappointed. They also read in the names of Wade Ellis, Joel & Lance Seiler to be ordained Elders - Lance has just received his mission call to go to Texas. It's a pretty day here today and believe it or not our snow is gradually melting! We still have big piles of all around the home.
Jeannie & Johnny - we really loved your letters this week. We received two from you Johnny and besides that we have talked to you on the phone so that's great. We think it's great that you have access to a computer in your apartment Johnny - your letters are so newsy and we love them. We like for you to be on the lookout for good investments too because you can learn so many things in the process. We can tell you love to go over to
Ann's and we're so glad she and Ron and their family are there. Jeannie - I'll bet you have been in the hospital again! We also think it is a great experience for your children to be so involved in your pregnancy and know they have to help and sacrifice in order to get their little baby brother or sister. Each week that goes by I sigh a sigh of relief that you have made it another week - we're so happy you are feeling a little bit better! I hope you have been able to gain some weight.
Annie & Bob & Roy - we hope you and yours are all doing good! We wonder who is doing the lifting to put little Lee Anna in her crib - I'll bet you have devised all kinds of tricks to get her to do things herself and it will be good for her. Claire - I bought a new dress on sale and it is two piece with the low waist and tight hip band - I wish you were close to tell me if it is in style or not - I love it because it's red and is a J.G.Hook brand but it's kinda' different. I wrote it to conference today! Roy - did you get the article about Ted Snider? (Chris Jordin sent us the Arkansas Business magazine and it featured an article about Ted Snider Sr. - Ted Jr. was Roy's friend and his sister was Jeannie's friend - I can't remember her name. Ted. Sr. is VERY successful financially in Little Rock now!)
Daddy has been watching the Arkansas Razorback basketball game since we came home from conference - he just came in to tell me the Razorbacks lost by three points in the last few seconds. Johnny's friend, Allie Freeman, is one of their star players and he is only a freshman so he has a bright future with them. It was fun to see Eddie Sutton and the Arkansas fans again - we really get homesick for Arkansas often!
This has been quite an uneventful week. Last Tuesday we were invited to a special dinner honoring the missionaries and held in the Fourth Ward here - it was really nice and everything tastes so good when I don't have to fix it. One of the young men from this ward just returned from a mission to Japan and he showed some of his slides. I don't know if any of you remember our friends, Marian & Malcolm Jeppsen from Salt Lake - anyway - their son was a missionary in the same mission as this young man. Marian & Malcolm have invited us to come to their home during the meetings at conference time because the mission president from Japan is going to stay with them and they're having a little get-together. I wrote to Marian and said we were going to spend all our time with our family so we wouldn't be able to go.
Friday night we went to a very special "India" dinner at the home of Bishop & Sister Carpenter here - he is Bishop of the College Ward. They had invited some of their friends who are from India and Sister Carpenter prepared some delicious curried chicken and other dishes and for dessert she served a Cream of Wheat mixture that had been fried in butter. We had to leave the dinner in the middle to go to a special baptism & give a talk and then go back for dessert - Daddy took his Assistants with us to show some slides.
That's all the news - so I won't start another page. We love each one of you so very much - PLEASE BE CAREFUL IN EVERYTHING YOU DO - Let us know how we can help you!
