Dearest Roy, Bob, Claire & Michael, Rick, Jean, Ricky, Barbara Jean & Mary Ann and Ron, Ann, Susanna, Jessie & Russell,
It's about 7:30 Sunday night and the Weinerts just left to go to Cody for the night - they wanted to check into the Holiday Inn tonight so Jeannie and the children would have a place to stay in the morning when Rick does his work. They came in Thursday night about 9:00 p.m. and we have enjoyed their visit so much. We all went to Hardin on Friday to attend one of our District's Missionary meetings - they were so sweet and sat through the meeting in a cold building - after that we drove to the Custer Battlefield and went through the museum and saw the battlefields which were ravaged with a fire about a month ago. It was really quite interesting and Ricky loved it because it showed so many "real" guns. Saturday was General Conference on television and the missionaries always watch it on our television in our apartment so the children and I went to the park in the morning and then Jeannie and the children and I shopped at the Mall all afternoon. Today was conference again and the children watched (?) it during the morning and then Jeannie and I took them to the park this afternoon. We always hate to see them (or any of you) leave and the greatest blessing I could have would be for us to live close enough so we could see each other more often than once a year!!!!! Ricky and Barbara Jean play so well together that it is a real pleasure to be with them and they are so-O-O good!!!! We didn't even know little Mary Ann was here - she is just a doll but we don't know who she looks like. The Elders all love having our family come and Sister Lowe just couldn't do enough for them - she really is sweet to our family and prepares delicious meals.
Bob - we really loved your letter - what an honor to go to Little Rock to help recruit interns for the hospital you're working in. we are anxious to hear all about it - staying in the new convention center and everything and eating at the Little Rock Club!!!! We know you have had a fun weekend and we wish Claire could have gone with you. Ann and Jean have both talked about how they sympathize a little with Claire - this is a hard time with two babies and a husband who is gone so much but we know Claire is self sufficient and is enjoying being a full time homemaker. Bob - your work sounds fabulous - (he has taken out appendix and gall bladders, etc.) - sounds like you're a really real Doctor. I'll bet it's kinda' hard to be doing all the hard labor and have the private doctors getting so much of the money - that's the only way to learn though and I'm sure they had to do the same thing. Doctors really deserve to make a good living after the many, many years of training and work to get in a position like that. We'll be happy when you and Roy are in that position.
Roy - your work sounds interesting too - emergency room work demands all kinds of skills - you'll start the surgery part in November? We had a nice letter from Dianne Power and she said to tell you "Hello" - they really like Des Moines, Iowa much better than San Antonio. Their twin girls have really grown. Garic is at the University of Texas is Austin and really likes it.
Annie - we surely hope you are feeling stronger and that your blood has been built up. Jeannie says your varicose veins are really bad too - this has been a hard pregnancy for you and I wish so much that I could have been of some help. It was fun to look at the pictures of all of you with the Weinerts and have them tell us about your trip to Lagoon.
Johnny is doing fine - he spent every night last week attending a Hunter Safety Course. They are very strict about that in Montana and you have to pass it and have a badge and a card to prove it before you can get your hunting license. He is looking forward to hunting now and we hope he is successful - it starts here October 25th. His collarbone is getting better - in fact, his coaches are trying to encourage him to play the last few games - we hope he doesn't! Daddy and I have to go to his Seminary Class in the morning at 6:15 - he doesn't have to go - we told him we want breakfast ready when we come back. (Ha!)
We went to Miles City last Thursday for a District Meeting - then to Hardin and tomorrow we go to Casper and then all over Wyoming until the end of the week. I wish we didn't have to travel so much but I guess that's part of it. Conference was really good what I heard of it (I'll get to read it) I don't have any more news. We really love each one of you so very much - we are so proud of you. PLEASE BE CAREFUL IN EVERYTHING YOU DO!!!!! Let us know how we can help you.
