Dearest Roy, Bob, Claire & Michael, Rick, Jean, Ricky, Barbara Jean & Mary Ann and Ron, Ann, Susanna, Jessie & Russell,
Still no news from Bob and Claire - whenever we leave we tell the Elders to be sure to call us when they hear the news!!!! They're as excited as we are - it's really wonderful your baby is going to be full term and then some - I think they always get along so much better than when they're early. Jeannie and Rick's babies have scared me to death and they have all grown into such healthy children but they have all been so tiny!!!
We have loved talking Ann and Jean this week - you say it is really hot in Utah and I worry about our things stored in our home in Lehi - I have visions of all our pictures melted together - I hope not!!!! We hope so much you will be able to get the boat started and go somewhere to have a good ride - it's hard to believe there isn't any boating on Utah Lake and that
Saratoga boat launching places have been flooded out. If you can't get the lights to work on your car with the boat Ron, could you just use our car there?
Roy - we haven't heard from you for so-o-o-o long!!! Daddy had a wonderful letter from Bob and he told about spending sixteen hours in the hospital so I'm sure you are that busy too but please just drop us a card so we'll know you are still alive!!!
You wouldn't believe our schedule for last week and the week coming up - Daddy and I look like zombies and the Elders wonder why we can't do more!!!! Last Monday after cleaning the house (I took Brenda to the airport early Monday morning) and doing the laundry and shopping we went to a District Conference here in Billings. Early Tuesday morning we drove to Hardin for another conference and then to Lamedeer for another one. I have baked wheat cake to take for after the meetings. Tuesday we got home just in time to fix dinner for the house Elders and then since someone had brought us a box of bananas and they were ripening too fast I made three big loaves of banana bread. Wednesday morning we got up early and drove to Miles City for another conference and then on to Wolf Point for another one. Our sweet couples in Wolf Point had prepared the nicest dinner for us - Sister Moon who's Millie Warner's sister really did everything and it was wonderful - watermelon boats with all kinds of fruits in them. She had also made Zucchini bread served with cream cheese, tuna salad and vegetables with dips. We drove home after the meeting and got in Billings about midnight. Thursday morning Daddy got up early and went to pick the garden - we ended up working all day canning beans (16 quarts and we also made 14 quarts of dill pickles, froze more of our sugar
peas and three quarts of corn. I fixed dinner and made Daddy a birthday cake since we were not going to be here on Friday - we all gave him a name plate for his desk that says, PRESIDENT MELLOR, MONTANA BILLINGS MISSION - it looks really good on his desk. Friday morning we left early to drive to Casper, Wyoming where we had another conference. After that meeting we drove to Riverton where we spent the night and got up the next morning for a meeting at 8 a.m. with the District Missionaries there - after that meeting we drove to Cody for another meeting and then after that we drove to Worland for another meeting. After our missionary meeting in Worland Daddy and I drove to the Tensleep Mountains where we had been invited to speak at a Regional Young Adult Conference - it was really a beautiful experience. We got there in time for their Bar-b-que dinner and they had roasted a beef and a lamb whole on an electric spit over a fire - it really was delicious meat and they had all the trimmings to go with it. We visited with them until about 9 p.m. and then headed for Billings - we got here about 1:30 this morning. After church this morning we came home and since none of the Elders were here I broke the Sabbath and really cleaned the house and did a lot of laundry - Daddy spent most of the afternoon in the kitchen frying his special chicken and zucchini - I fixed potatoes, green beans, green salad and a fruit bowl. After dinner I fixed peanut butter cookies and lemonade for a fireside here at the home. Then I came upstairs and did the ironing because tomorrow we must freeze our corn before leaving for Great Falls.
Johnny came home a day early - he said it rained every day, the fishing wasn't very good and they warned about sleeping in tents and soft sided campers because of bear in the area. He said he had a good time but we could tell he is really happy to be back in the comfortable room. We love each one of your so very much - I hope we live to enjoy being with all of you again - right now we are both so tired and there are a million things to do - I don't want a garden next year!!! PLEASE BE CAREFUL IN EVERYTHING YOU DO - let us know how we can help you.
