Little Rock, Ark.
Dearest Ron, Ann, Susanna & Jessie, Rick, Jean, Ricky & Barbara Jean and Roy,
This has been such a fun day - Daddy and I left about 7 this morning to drive to Hot Springs where we met Cissy and Charles and then we went to Glenwood where Daddy and Cissy gave talks - they asked Daddy to come be their first speaker in their new church - they have really done remarkable things. It is in a beautiful sot and they bought and old home and have converted it into a church - they had just finished building on an addition which they use as their chapel. Daddy gave a wonderful talk - they really love him in the Stake and miss him as their leader. We had our annual Stake Christmas Party in Jacksonville n Saturday night (Friday) and they had asked Daddy to be the Master of Ceremonies and he did a beautiful job. It was a really nice party - they served chicken breasts, mashed potatoes and gravy, congealed salad, rolls, green
almandine and pie - they must have had about 300 people there. Daddy was sustained today as the Young Men's President and
Priest's advisor in our Ward - he will do a wonderful job and it will be good for Johnny to have him with him.
We appreciate your cal last night so much Jennie - we're so happy you are feeling better and we hope it will continue. That little Ricky is such a doll - we can tell that he knows who we are now - he recognizes our voices and he really talks. You are going to have fun for a long time now that he has found out he can use one of the phone while you are on the other one. Your Christmas will be such a fun one with Ricky and Barji decorating and undecorating your tree - we know you will rally enjoy our new den!!!!
We loved your call too Annie and that little Jessie talks so cute - whenever you call and Johnny answers he won't let anyone get on until he has finished talking to Susanna - she is just like her Mother and talks a mile a minute. We're so happy your open house was a success and that you had a Happy Birthday - we know you're happy to have that over with and you are so lucky to have our home all decorated so soon in the month. We
would love to see your tree and how the music responds to the different tones!!!
Roy - we're really getting anxious for the holidays and yours and Patrice's visit - we hope the weather is as good as it is now - cold put pretty ! how is your school coming? Did you receive the mail we forwarded to you - I wanted to open the one that looked like a wedding invitation and see who of you r friends is getting married. I hope you will be here for the reception or whatever it was for. We hope you won't have to bring home a lot of school work like you always have before - maybe Bob will have some of the books you will need if you have to study - hopefully you won't have to!
We took Johnny to the dermatologist (sp.?) and we were really surprised in his recommendation - he took him off milk and all dairy products - even cheese!!! He gave him some of pills to take and also some medication to put on his face and soap to wash with - it is really a lot better already. We have cautioned him to not eat chips, chocolate and coke and the Doctor told him that none of those things have proved to cause his problem - it has really been hard for him to give up the milk and he hasn't completely given up the cheese, especially on pizza. We have always thought milk was the one perfect food and I guess they are finding out that it isn't. he played basketball with the church team yesterday and they played two games and won one of them and lost the other one by two pints - he really is quite good and is getting better all the time. He also plays with the Boys Club so he gets a lot of practice. He is doing really well in school and loves it. Carol Woods is going to transfer to Hall next Semester - isn't that something?
Bob, Claire and little Michael are doing fine - Claire spent the first part of this week in Memphis - and then helped with the Stake Christmas Party as Homemaking Leader so Bob has had responsibility of Michael. That's going to be a lot harder as he gets older and demands more attention - they tie him up in a high chair now and he is happy to just play with toys but it won't be long until he is crawling around an getting into things. Claire's
sister and brother are going to Houston for the holiday to be with the Ezells and we think Bob is happy about that. Carolyn (Claire's sister) and her husband may spend all Summer with the
Ezells if he can find work in Houston - he has a free Semester before his final year in the MBA program and would like to work in Houston.
We love you all much and hope you are really happy - let us know if we can help you.
