Dearest Ron, Ann, Susanna & Jessie; Rick, Jean, Ricky & Barbara Jean; and Roy:
We just finished eating dinner and it's almost 6 p.m. - I had made that Dream
Chicken Casserole and Bob came to eat with us. (Claire is in New York) and then
we just visited and Bob did some duck calling for Jimmy - we really appreciate
having him spend time with us - he starts school tomorrow though so he won't
have as much time. The hospital where he works has given him the neatest job for
the school year - he will spend his evenings there studying and be "on call" -
it will help them out and he's really thrilled about it.
We are really having fun with Jimmy - he & Daddy & John have been going to Lake
Maumelle fishing each morning and catching about 18-20 big white bass. Well -
last Wednesday morning John caught him in the back of the head with a fishhook -
it scared him more than hurt him and he passed out and that really scared Daddy
& John! They rushed him to the emergency room of St. Vincent’s and they cut it
out. He just rested for the rest of the day and then he was okay. John says "now
they're even" since he got skinned up on the motorcycle while he was in Manti
but he really felt bad about it.
We went to Hot Springs on Thursday and they had a lot of fun at Magic Springs
and then we saw "Mama Bear - Poppa Bear" at the amphitheatre at the Mid-America
Park - that is Rand Hopkins' play and it has been very successful here - he is
living in Los Angeles now!!!
Daddy & I have bottled 65 quarts of peaches and have about another 20 to go. We
went to Forrest City and picked 4 1/2 bushels of the most beautiful peaches I
have ever seen and they're really delicious. They will really be good this
Winter.
Cissy Beyers came over early this morning and we worked on the Stake party -
we're going to have it at their condominium in Hot Springs on September 12th -
it is for the Stake Auxiliary Presidencies and High Council. We're going to try
to fix barbecued chicken, Etc.!!!
Jimmy is going home on Wednesday - he & Johnny & Ronnie have had a ball!!!
John's school starts August 25th - a week earlier than usual - so he won't have
time to get bored - this has been a special Summer for him!!!
It was fun to talk to Ann & Jean this week - we have laughed about Susanna using
a magic marker for lipstick and eyebrow pencil and we could just see Ricky &
Rick playing with the cardboard fort in the living room - you have so many fun,
wonderful times to look forward to!!!
Roy, we hope you have your apartment in shape by now!!! Has your - weather been
cool? We are still cooking!!!
We love you all so very much and we're so proud of you - please be careful and
don't get hurt!!!
