Sunday - Sept. 2, 1979
Dearest Ron, Ann & Susanna, Risk, Jean & Ricky and Roy,
We have had a fun Sunday - it was Fast Day so we didn't eat until 6 and Bob and Claire came over for dinner - we were all starving so everything tasted good. Claire brought a delicious pecan pie - I had fixed brisket and potatoes and gravy - I like to have that for Bob because he seems to enjoy it so much. Bob is still Sunday School President and Claire is teaching in Sunday School now so Sunday is a busy day for them. Claire is still Young Women's President and for their opening social this Wednesday they are going to have that simulated plane crash thing you had for your ward one time Ann - they will describe the different kingdoms people go to after death and the final one, the Celestial Kingdom will be in the chapel with the
Sondrup family all dressed in white - Daddy will welcome them to the telestial kingdom - anyway it really sounds good and they have sent out cute invitations.
Jeannie and Rick and little Ricky - the Woolleys tell us you are all doing great and that Ricky is getting fat and really filling out and that you're working ten hours every other Saturday and five hours every other Sunday Jeannie - we think that's wonderful if you're feeling good. I think it's good for
Daddy to be in charge occasionally and we know you enjoy it too Rick. Claire and Bob are making a bookcase like Ann &
Ron's and we told them you had one to work on too.
Roy - where are you???? We keep hoping you will call to check in - I realized the minute we hung up last week that we didn't arrange another time to call. We have it on your calendar that you will move into your house on the 7th - I'll be more relieved when I know where you are. It seems like you have been gone a hundred years and you haven't even started school yet - we hope so much that everything goes just wonderful for you and that you have a very, very happy year even though we know it will be a lot of work. A lot of people at church have asked about you particularly Bro. Morgan - he was surprised you had gone back.
Annie and Ron and little Susanna - it was so fun to talk to you yesterday morning - I finally told Daddy and John that I had called you!!!! We would so love to see Susanna take a few steps - I'll bet she's so proud of herself - such a little doll!!!! The "Woolley Systems, Inc." sounds so official and we hope you get lots and lots of business. We are really happy that you decided to not move to Kansas City - in fact, we think you will be very smart if you stay in Utah forever - our parents couldn't tell us that when we were your age so we don't expect to have any influence on your plans but I have to tell you how I feel.
We had a lady from Carriage House come out yesterday to measure for carpet - it will take 134 yards - we're going to carpet all the bedrooms upstairs and then down the steps and half of the quarry tile entrance and down the steps and then in the middle of the den and into the downstairs bedroom and part of the utility room. It's going to be a light and neutral shade and will be really pretty - she is also going to help us pick out wallpaper for the living and dining room area and in the upstairs hall where that dark green paper is. We had her measure for a "pit group" for the den but I'm afraid that will be too expensive so we'll probably buy that some place else. We're also going to have our roof re-shingled with the asphalt shingles that look like the wooden shake shingles. It's fun to have this all done but I'm not sure I have convinced Daddy it's what we should do - we plan to stay here another four years and it has needed to be done for a long time. We are also seriously considering buying a lot in a new area of development and Bob says he would rather help Daddy build a home next Spring than work as a respiratory therapist - Wayne Smith says he wants to help too. Anyway, we have lots of plans.
John was elected Senior Patrol Leader for his Boy Scout Troop and he was thrilled about that - he is really happy in all his school activities and football and everything now. He and Daddy and Bob are going to go Dove hunting tomorrow - someplace by Morrillton - they're not going until late afternoon. I remember when you used to go with them Roy - wish you were here to go now. Trip Strauss was always a big dove hunter, wasn't he????
I called Grandmother Forrest after her eye surgery and she got along fine. We're going to see if we can have their 60th wedding Anniversary celebration in Oct. - Daddy may have to go out for Conference. I don't have enough news for another page - we love you all so much!!!
