Dearest Ron, Ann & Susanna, Rick, Jean & Ricky and Roy,
It is so fun to add little Ricky to my Salutation!!!!!! We have shown his picture to everyone we know and they are all so impressed and think he is almost as beautiful as we do. All our friends here have been so interested in his arrival and they want us to tell you how thrilled they are for you. It was so good to talk to you, Jeannie & Rick, yesterday morning and hear that everything is going well - we surely hope your health continues to improve Jeannie and that you get feeling better too Rick (he had the flue or something). I just long to rock that little guy - please don't let him grow up too much before we see him again. We're glad you like your job Rick and your diet classes sound good too Jean - keep us informed on things.
We have shown little Suz's picture to everyone too - I wish you could have heard Johnny explain to someone about her the other day as he was showing them her picture - he said "she looks cute in this picture, but if you could just see her in person!!!!!!!, she has the cutest personality" - he went on and on. He really loves that girl. We just must live closer sometime in the near future - we went to see Susanna and Ricky go through all their little stages and have them love us so much as we love them. We are so sorry about the misfortune of Ron's parents in losing a lot of their crop - I remember so well when my father would lose a cherry crop or some of his peaches because of frost and it was heartbreaking and that was a very small part of his income. Please tell them we're thinking of them.
Roy - I keep waiting for you to come home - it doesn't seem right for us to turn out all the lights and lock the doors when we go to bed. We were so happy you called us last night - we had left the house about 7 to go to a party at the Gonce's home and didn't get home until about 10:30 - I told daddy I would like to call Link's home to see if you had made it but it would have been 11:30 there and we were afraid we would awaken them. Your trip sounded great - I could close my eyes and see that little blue
Toyota with the rocking chair and bicycle on the back going on the freeway and my heart would go clear to my toes - I guess I will always that way when our "kids" leave home - I'm already planning for Christmas when you'll be home again. Johnny did not waste any time moving into your room and he is "loving" your stereo. We were with the Littlefields last night and their daughter Gayle left this morning to go to BYU - her younger sister Patricia has been so excited because she was going to "inherit" Gayle's room - they said they missed Patricia and when they found her she was crying because it had just hit her that Gayle was leaving and things wouldn't be the same anymore - that's quite the way it is with Johnny - he would gladly give up the room to have you home again Roy. We hope so much that you will enjoy the little vacation you have before school starts - I still can't believe I let you get away two weeks before you really needed to go and yet we don't blame you for wanting to travel a bit before you settle down to a year of really hard work!!!! We hope so much you have a wonderful year.
Bob and Claire were to Sacrament meeting but we didn't get to visit with them very long - we may go over there in a few minutes and see their apartment. Bob is loving school - he has his "cadaver" (sp.?) and box of "human bones" and I think that would be the biggest hurdle. He says there is really a lot to cover but so far he has been able to keep up - he has only been going to school a week though. His hardest subject is anatomy and his teacher is Ed Lucas - we were with them last night at the party - he is such a fine man and Bob really likes him - he already has to made to the Celestial Kingdom for living with Marge!!!! Who said that
Johnny is enjoying his football - he is really happy that he was on vacation and missed the first two weeks of football practice - he really doesn't enjoy that. He won't get to play very much but the pressure will be off because he knows we don't expect him to. He start school in the morning and he's ready. He and Ronnie have been inseparable since we got back from Utah - it's too bad they're not going to the same school.
Daddy and John & I have been in Benton all day today - it was their Branch Conference. They are doing so well under the leadership of the McKells - they are the sweetest and most humble people I have ever known - Mary was there and she is hard to handle. Do you remember Wanda and O'Neal Spraklin - they live in Kansas City now and she has Multiple Sclerosis - sad!
I don't have enough news for another page - we love you all so very much -
