Dearest Ron, Ann & Susanna and Rick & Jean,
We go to the phone a thousand times to call you Rick and Jean - we think about you constantly. We know you are really happy to be home Jeannie - it is so hard to be in the hospital that long and especially when you're not sick. We just know everything is going to be fine - we may get John on his way to Boy Scout Camp and then head for Utah and let him fly out after camp - he would love that. He goes to camp a week from today.
It was good to talk to you the other night Ron - s0orry we missed you Ann but we were glad you went to the neighbor's party. It sounds so neat to us that you are able to go to the temple just like that - we have to plans for months. Our Temple excursion is supposed to be next week - we're not sure we're going - the Smiths say they won't be too disappointed if we all don't go this time - we'll wait and see.
This has been such a busy week for me - I'm just not good at planning for things like Regional Meetings - Daddy takes it all in stride but it really throws me. We had a planning meeting on Thursday night from 6 until 10:30 - then Friday we took some of the board members from Little Rock and went to Jacksonville where we met the Beyers and also our two General Board Members and then we all went to the Ramada Inn for dinner - it had been highly recommended to us but it was one of the worst meals we have ever eaten and we were
embarrassed!!! We had interviews with the General Board Members and then we came home. We left early Saturday morning to go back over to Jacksonville for the Regional Meetings - in the meantime Daddy and I had made a "huge" watermelon shell filled with watermelon and cantaloupe balls and pineapple and strawberries - it was just beautiful - we served this during the break. The meetings really went well and they were all pleased. After that we went to the "St. John's Seminary" where they were having the Young Adult Conference - we had dinner with them and then we brought Bro. Miller (our Regional Representative) home with us - it was about 10:00 and we were all so tired. This morning we left about to go to Searcy to attend their Branch Conference and then back to Little Rock for Sacrament meeting. We really keep busy. I talked to the McClurgs for a little while and they seem quite happy but they say that Camille never comes home anymore, and that makes them sad.
I am having more trouble with this typewriter tonight - first the "n" wouldn't work and now the "y" nor the "b" will work some of the time.
I was sitting by Cissy today during the Branch Conference and I went to put on some lipstick and it slipped out of my hand and it fell onto her beautiful dress and then onto her fabric purse - I could have died!!!! I have been trying to call her but she doesn't answer. Eilleen (Steve's wife) is overdue in having her baby and I'm thinking that maybe she has had it and they have gone to the hospital.
Daddy and John had a marvelous time on their fishing trip - they went to "Flippin, Ark." - it's about 150 miles north of Little Rock. They said they caught about 60 trout and they ate most of them - they did bring a few home.
Bob and Claire have had a disappointment - Mickey and Tom have decided to go back together again and want their home back. Tom had signed a legal document and had cashed Bob's earnest money so Bob went to a lawyer and he told him there would be no problem about making Tom sell it to them at the price agreed to on the contract and everything. Bob called Tom and Tom became very ugly and said he "would see him in court" - this really hurt Bob so they decided to not do anything about it. They said they could never be happy in the house under those circumstances. It was a good experience for them all, I guess. They're looking at houses again now but they have also found out they could live in the Med School dormitories for married couples so that will help for a while. The rent is something like $135.00 a month with all utilities paid and we think they should stay there for a while. John stayed with them all day today - they're so good to him.
I should never start another page - I only have one more paragraph of news!!!!!!
Roy went to Hot Springs on Friday - his friend, Carol Bracy had invited some of her friends from SMU to her folk's cabin on the lake and she also invited Roy, Trip and Dan so they went too. Roy said he really had a good time and he liked her friends. When they got ready to leave, Roy's car wouldn't start so he came home with Trip and now he had go to back for his car.
Carla Culwell Pearce just came over with a Primary Manual for me - I said I would teach the Star class tomorrow. They have Primary on Monday mornings. They have really had a hard time getting teachers - in fact all the auxiliaries in our Ward have had a hard time getting staffed.
I can't think of anymore news. We will probably be seeing you before long - please let us know if you need anything. We love you all so very much and we're so proud of you.
