Dearest Ron, Ann & Susanna and Rick & Jean,

It's a hot Saturday afternoon - Daddy, John, Bob and Claire went with the Stake Youth to float the Buffalo River - they tried to get Roy to go with them but he didn't want to. It has been a beautiful day and I know they have had a wonderful time - they said they would be home about 6 tonight but I doubt it.

It was so good to talk to you the other night - we missed saying "Hi" to you Ron - we hope your trip to Snowbird was good - those conventions are always so much work that sit takes time to recuperate - I didn't realize Snowbird was a place where they had facilities for large meetings but it sounds great;

Roy has been playing racquet ball with Trip today - he said it really makes him tired. I worry about him being so thin but really he isn't still one minute, it would be impossible for him to gain any weight. He goes to work at 7:30 and is usually home by 5:00 and after dinner he leaves with friends or they come here and he never goes to bed before midnight. Our Stake is having a Young Adjust Conference next week-end and all the kids have been calling him to see if he will go but so fat he has said "No"!!!

Bob and Claire are excited about having a home of their own - they got a good deal! It's a three bedroom, brick (red) home and it's just four houses down the street from where the Culwells live and it's in good condition. The people who lived there before Tom and Mickey bought it had a lot of cats and dogs and they have had to change a lot of the carpeting and draperies and Tom has re-painted the whole inside. It isn't decorated very tastefully but that can be changed and I think it will be good for Claire to have the opportunity to fix it up. The yard is really nice with a beautiful lawn. They won't be paying very much more a month than they have been in their apartment and they really wanted to buy a home. Bob is going to try to work a little while he is going to school - they have offered him a part-time job doing what he is doing now and they tell him he could study while working and that would be good. Claire is really liking her job - they offered her another job last week because of her high score on some accounting test she took here but she has decided to stay with Cohn's. She is getting frustrated with her church calling though - they are working on the roadshow and she doesn't get much cooperation and Bob said she was really discouraged - you can relate to that can't you Annie????

John and Daddy are going on a trip to the White River with Feris Tuey this coming Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday - they are excited about it - John really has a ball all the time but he has such a cute personality it's really fun to be around him. He got his report card back and he got 4 "A's" and 2 "B's" - his B's were in Home Ec and Science - they also sent his National SRA test scores and he scored above 95 in everything but low in Science - he does very well in math and reading comprehension. I have been so surprised all year that he has done so well in his classes because he just never studies and I thought it was due to the lack of competition in his school but since he scored so high in the national test I guess he is smarter than I give credit for being.

Roy has taken up his music again and I'm so happy!!!! He has been playing the piano quite a bit and he's going to take guitar lessons starting next week - he has a really good guitar and he never did learn to play it - I hope learns enough before he goes back to school so he can do something with it - he's going to take his guitar to school.

Mark Jordan is going good - he's home now and I'm sure Chris has her hands full. That operation is becoming so popular - they have only been doing it here in Little Rock for the past three years and they do about three a day at the Baptist Hospital - I don't know about the other hospitals. Purl Partello had it done about a month ago and Daddy went to see him last week and he's ready to go back to work.

Next Saturday is our Regional Meeting - we will have two members of the Relief Society General Board here with us. I'll be busy all week preparing for it and will be happy to have it over with. We had a board meeting with Cissy last night - she is really on the ball and it's fun to work with. We had a board meeting with Cissy last night - she is really on the ball and it's fun to work her. Eillean Beyers is expecting her baby any day!!!!

Today is Dorothy's birthday - I took her one of Frances' "Let's Have a Party". They want us to go have cake and ice cream with them later but I don't think Daddy will feel much like going anywhere after being in the river all day. Pete Hipp has been in Atlanta, Ga. all week visiting her sister who has Parkinson's disease - she was worried about leaving Ralph - I don't believe they have ever been apart before. I haven't seen John Robert for a long time - I don't even see him out in his yard anymore - I hope he is seeing a lot of patients - I tried to get Roy to go to him but he didn't want to. The Barbees are so cute - they're planning a trip out to the West and will be in Utah the middle of July - they go on those tours where everything is planned for you - they'll drive to Denver and leave from there. Did I tell you the Mayhans were moving? Their house hasn't sold yet but I'm sure it will soon.

I can't think of any more news so I'll wait and finish this tomorrow.

It's Sunday just after sacrament meeting - Bob and Claire spoke and they did a good job.

Jennie and Rick - you are in our thoughts and prayers constantly - we just know everything is going to be alright - we have had to fight ourselves to keep from coming out - we would love to be with you so much and do whatever we could to help. We know you are in the very best of hands Jeannie and we're grateful for that. Rick, we really appreciate your letting us know as soon as you did and we hope you will always do that - regardless of the time or anything. We loved having you call today Jennie - it was so good to talk to you - I just wish we would have asked for your room telephone number.

Annie and Ron -it was so exasperating to call you fifty thousand time last night and not have you answer - in the night I finally decided you had gone to Jerome to be with Ron'' Daddy for Father's Day. I waited until I was sure I wouldn't disturb the Woolleys and called them - Everley was so cute and we had a wonderful visit - at the end of our conversation she said she would call Sue to see if she know where you were and then I said, "Well I didn't try to call them this morning, they may be home" - and she said "Oh, you didn't call them this morning" - I could tell she thought that was the first thing I should have done but she didn't say that. Needless so say - I was a little mixed up. We would surely like to see more of Ron's folks.

They had a fabulous time on the Buffalo River float trip - they came home hungry and tired but they really enjoyed it - Claire said the scenery was beautiful. At the end of the trip the Stake MIA served dinner - they put Taco flavored Doritos in the bottom of a paper cup and then chili on top of that and cheese on top of that - Sister Littlefiled was one of the ones who helped and she said there wasn't a bean left.

Daddy has had Happy Day - Roy and John gave him an "Ultra lite Shakespeare Ugly Stick" fishing pole and Bob & Claire gave him the things you put on your boat to hold your fishing poles - I have him a hairbrush so he wouldn't use mine - Ha! We cooked one of those big top round stakes on the grill and Bob and Claire came to eat with us - it- has been a fun day. Chris and Wayne Smith also come over. They have sold their home in Hot Springs and are going to start building their new home here as soon as they can - they have bought a lot out in Western Little Rock.

We surely do love each one of you and hope everything goes great for you. We can hardly wait to see Susanna and John wants to play with her - I'm afraid he's going to be disappointed that she won't want to wrestle or go fishing!!! Please be careful and let us know if we can help in any way.
