Dearest Ron, Ann & Susanna, Rick & Jean, and Roy,
Susanna - what a beautiful picture!!!! We are so thrilled to have a big one and you look as though you could talk to us. We can hardly wait to see you again. We can just imagine the fun you're having with such a little doll - it was so good to talk to you Annie and hear that she is adjusting to her new baby sitter okay. You sound busy and happy and we're excited to hear more about your business plans.
Rick and Jennie - we're waiting for a phone call from you - would you believe you just called? You sound as if you're having a wonderful time and we're so thrilled. We feel so bad that you haven't made contact with Roy - it is really hard to make plans when things are indefinite like they have been. We're glad that you used good
judgment and didn't take the train to see him - we hope the rest of your trip is great - we'll try to find you either Tuesday night or Wednesday but if we don't you'll know we tried. Rick - we're happy you passed your test and could make this trip.
Roy - we have felt so bad since Ann called us last night and said you really didn't know what was going on. She said you had arranged your working schedule so you could have sometime off to be with Jeannie and Rick - all I can say is that I'm sorry things didn't work out. We can hardly wait to see you - in fact, we may get there before this letter does. We're going to leave early in the morning - we'd like to spend some time in the Washington Temple so we may drive straight through - depending on how tired we get. We have reservations at the Holiday Inn in Providence for Thursday night - we may stay there Friday night also if you have that much time off. We'll call you later on tonight and tell you all this.
Bob and Claire got here last Monday morning about 2 o'clock - actually it was like Sunday night - they didn't have any trouble and I think that's a miracle with Big White pulling a very loaded trailer- Big White has developed some very weird sounds!!! They unloaded the trailer and put their things in the garage. Claire has had a lot of job interviews - she has been offered a job with M. M. Cohns but they didn't offer her a very big starting salary so she's still thinking about it. She has an interview with
Southwestern Bell next Wednesday. Bob has a job starting May 13 at the University Hospital doing respiratory therapy work - it sounds really good as far as hours are concerned - they'll let him have Sundays off every other week and he doesn't have to work nights - I think that's what they told him. They're looking for houses and apartments and the Real Estate People are bounding them - they haven't found what they want yet - they can't qualify for a loan until they get jobs.
Johnny got his moped - Daddy let him get it last Wednesday and it's really beautiful and is he ever proud of it!!!! He went into the hospital last Friday morning about 7 and didn't get home until about noon - it was much more of an ordeal than he had bargained for and he was really nauseated all day Friday. His face is all taped up - he goes in tomorrow to have it checked and we think they'll be able to take the tape off and "unpack" his nose - they packed it with gauze. He has really been uncomfortable for about two weeks and I'm sure he has learned to walk away from a fight from now - Mr. Caveness told him that if he couldn't walk away to at least be read.
Daddy and Johnny and Bob & Claire and I packed up the trailer and went to Petit Jean on Friday afternoon - it was our Ward Campout but there weren't very many people there. We really bad a good time though - the weather was just beautiful - we went hiking on the trails and had really good food and it was fun.
I had a luncheon on Wednesday right after Relief Society for Helena Jacobsen - there were eleven of us and we had fun. I made a chicken casserole, congealed salad, green salad, Claire made
caramel rolls, and I made a really rich chocolate dessert.
This is a short letter - Daddy and I have been in Russellville and Morrillton since ten this morning and it's ten p.m. and we have to pack. We love you all so very much.
