Dearest Ron, Ann & Susanna, Rick & Jean, Bob & Claire and Roy,

This has been a happy week - we have heard from each one of you - we appreciate so much your letters, phone calls, cards etc. - even though we are so busy it seems that we are just lost when we don't hear from you.

Jeannie - we really loved your long newsy letter. Your church callings sound good - yours and Ricks. I have wondered how it would work in the Primary class. I have visited our night Relief Society several times and would like to go then instead of in the mornings but it is for the women who work so I don't go. We'll be excited to see your bookcase - I don't think we knew you were building one but that's great and it's wonderful you have such a big downstairs to work in. I know it must be cold down there - do you know what I have loved for the past two years - that duofold underwear - they make it for women and it so so warm and so comfortable. I keep our thermostat turned down to 680 during the day and a.m. very comfortable with that on.

Annie - we really loved your long newsy letter too - it so much fun to read about little Susanna - we would love a redhead - we have had everything else! I believe I have told you that the Harrises adopted girl has the brightest red hair I have every seen and Dean said he didn't like red hair either but he does now. We hope Ron enjoyed his trip to California and that it was warm and sunny. It sounds to us like you have worked out a very nice schedule for both you and Susanna and it thinks that's really great!!! We loved the pictures - I am going to find me a photo album that will fit them so I can carry them around with me - I kept them in my purse in an envelope for quite awhile but they can get damaged so easily that way that I took them out and whenever I want to show them to someone they're home - she is really a doll!!!!

Bob & Claire - we really loved your card and letter too - we were tickled that you brought your California card back to Utah to mail because you didn't want to pay 50c for 40c worth of stamps in a machine - you couldn't be anymore like your Daddy - that makes him madder than just above anything I know. Your trip sounded fun - $350 a month for an apartment sounds terrible - housing in California is out of sight so I hear. We hope you won't have to live there, but if you do, it's good you will know what to expect. We'll take care of your license for "Big White" here. Has Mr. Webb contacted you yet - I appreciated your calling me about that.

Roy - we were so thrilled you called us yesterday - it was so funny, we have talked about you all week because we knew you were in finals and then Daddy and I were sitting in front of the fireplace visiting and wishing you would call just about an hour before you called. We're happy your finals are over and you can relax for a little while - we hope you have fun skiing in Vermont - it's hard to have ten days off and not be able to come home - I wish they would change that and I know you do too. I talked to Dr. George Griggs today and he said he surely thought you were a fine young man - I wanted to tell him to help you get that job this Summer but I didn't.

Daddy was in Houston and Florida all last week - he was supposed to come in at 5:30 Friday night and he called about 4:30 from Memphis and said he was "fogged" in and would on a bus so John and I went to the Ward Party - about 8 o'clock Bishop Tolman came and told me he was at the airport and wanted me to come get him - he had rented a car and driven from Memphis. He had to get home because he had to set a Missionary apart who was leaving early Saturday morning - going to the Tempe, Arizona Mission.

I bit off more than I could chew today - they asked me to be in charge of collecting for the March of Dimes in an area of Leawood - it was made up of 133 homes and I made and put 20 phone calls and couldn't get anyone who would "March" so I decided to go it all myself - I started about 1 o'clock this afternoon and finished at 7 tonight - I even missed Sacrament Meeting - I collected $128.75 and they said that was good but for that many homes it wasn't. It's late now so I'll close and get this mailed - Daddy is speaking at the Young Adults Fireside.

I forgot to tell about the thing Daddy bought for Johnny - your old conservative Daddy - I couldn't believe it but I'm really happy. Johnny has been looking at this "Chess Challenger" in "Computer land" - that's a store here. He just loves to play Chess and I'm too stupid to learn the game and Daddy is worn out trying to keep with all Johnny's demands to play a game with him so he gave in and bought it for him. He just got it yesterday and he plays it every spare minute and still hasn't (written by hand from here to end) beat it - it has ten levels and he's still on the first level.  It's really amazing!!!  I get the feeling there's a body hiding in that little box.  You who can play chess will love it!!

I'm too tired to put a new typewriter ribbon in!!!

We love you all so very much and hope you'll be careful in everything you do so you won't get hurt!!

Let us know if you need anything!

Aunt Marvel had her 90th birthday last week - she's doing great!!
