Dearest Ron & Ann, Rick & Jean, Bob & Claire and Roy,
It's really a beautiful Fall day and we have just finished watching Conference. I really loved Bro. Packer's talk - I don't know if you heard it or not - you in Utah had this conference on Saturday and you in Rhode Island may not have heard it - anyway he talked about people staying away from Relief Society and other meetings because they don't get anything out of them and his answer was - "What do you put into them"? We have a lot of that here - especially in Relief Society, Sisters who say the lessons are either geared for the young for the old whichever they aren't!!!! it was a good conference - we have our meetings today combined with the Little Rock First Ward and then after Sacrament we'll have the conference broadcast just on radio - it makes it really nice though because we get a lot more of conference than we used to.
The big news for this week in Rick's new job - we're surely proud of you Rick and we're so anxious to hear more about it - I believe you officially start tomorrow. That is such a good field and we hope so much you will really love it. We can hardly wait to hear that you have moved into your new home - surely it must be ready by now - I believe I'd just move in and not pay anything until they finished - Ha! Jeannie - are you going to make your draperies - I'd love to help you.
I know you are getting so excited now Ron and Annie - I a.m. going to get packed too so I'll be ready. Daddy has Stake Conference on the 28th so if your baby is born before that he won't be able to come and I'll fly out and then we hope he and Johnny can drive out to get me so they can see the baby. If your baby is born after the 28th - we'll all try to drive out and then we'll go from there. Ellen Mae called me last night and we had such a good visit - she asked about you and I said your baby was due on the 23rd but we were hoping it would come sooner to Thanksgiving - she said, "Wow, I know Ann doesn't want to wait that long" - whenever it comes will be fine with us. Their daughter Debbie is in the hospital now waiting for her second baby and she has been there a week - Ellen Mae said they have to watch her so closely - she has diabetes and I guess it's very risky.
It was so good to talk to you Bob - we're anxious to hear how the MCAT was. We hope you can get the furnace put in where we want it - please call us if you have any questions about it and we'll put it on the bill. It will be so wonderful to have central heating in that house. We'd love to have you re-wire it too but that really sounds scary to me. Ellen Mae said she had talked to the principal who worked with Claire this past Summer and she said he couldn't say enough nice things about you Claire - He said you could walk into a classroom of students and have them under control in a matter of minutes - she was very complimentary and it made me so proud of you.
Roy - you have given us the wrong phone number!!!!! We made three calls to that number yesterday so we could wish you good luck on your MCAT and each time it was the wrong number - Daddy called information and asked for numbers under your name or Keith Korman, Ty Hart, or Link Hartman - I don't know if we have the right names but none of you have a number listed in your name. We hope so much you did the way you will feel good about it - we were thinking of you. The Razorbacks are really doing good aren't they? We listened for the College football scores last night and Brown wasn't listed - I guess you didn't play this week-end. I hope you'll call us tonight - we haven't heard from you this week and I feel so lost when we don't have a number to reach you.
WE had a fun time this week. The Carriage House had their flood sale - you just wouldn't believe all that gorgeous furniture covered with mud. We got some good buys though - we brought a corner china cabinet for $99.95 that was originally $539.00 - Daddy had to work on it a little but really you can't tell it was damaged. We also bought a kitchen table for $150.00 that was originally $419.00 and it wasn't damaged at all but the two leaves that came with it were warped a little. It was really fun but a madhouse - you selected the things you wanted and then paid for them and then it was your responsibility to move them - many people had things taken away from them after they had paid for them. I rented a little U-Haul trailer and got my things and then waited for two hours for Daddy to come drive the trailer. I have to get ready for Meeting - this is a short letter. Johnny and Daddy are great - they went to the Priesthood Broadcast last night - Johnny said it was boring.... We really do love you very much - BE CAREFUL!!!!
