June 18, 978 - Sunday
Dearest Ann & Ron, Jean and Rick, Bob and Claire,
Today is Father's Day and we have had a fun but busy day - Daddy really loved having you all remember him, He'll write you a note on the bottom of this letter. He received a trolling motor for his fishing boat and he's thrilled about that. We must with him to Russellville this morning - the Bishop up there is moving so they put they put in Perry Turnbull as the new one - it was funny because in Daddy's talk he mentioned how Perry was Branch President up there when we moved here fourteen years ago and now he's back in the same position. They have a beautiful little chapel up there and it was practically full. The Hornes have had a young girl from Salt Lake living with them this Summer and working at go with us and we wish he had been there because she was such a cute girl.
We're getting so excited about seeing all of you - we'll leave here next Saturday right after Regional Meetings, about seven o'clock and if all goes well we should be in Lehi about midnight Sunday. Our plans are to stay in Lehi until probably Friday and then go to Brigham City and we may stay there Friday night and get up early Saturday and come back. We are going to leave for Washington D. C. the next Monday morning for our Stake Temple Excursion so we want to get home early Sunday, if possible.
Bob - we linked your ideas of getting together with the Ezells for a Barbecue Supper or something before the Wedding - maybe we could do it Tuesday evening at Aunt Marvels - we can work that out when we get there - okay? I'm wondering if you have received notes from the ones we invited to the wedding - we had a letter from Grandmother Forrest and she said to not count on them for that but they would come to the reception. I'm sure if Dee and Judy come they will come also but if you haven't heard from them either let's don't count on them - if at the last minute they find they can come, then we'll call the restaurant and see if they can accommodate more. That is always so hard when you don't get a definite commitment but I don't know what else we can do.
Annie - we were so thrilled to read on Daddy's Father's day card that you have felt the little rascal kicking - I have been so worried - I was so sure that when you felt it (her) you would call but I can understand why you haven't - you have called so often!!!! We are really thrilled that everything is going fine - what has the doctor told you about your trip to Switzerland?
Jeannie - I hope I haven't asked too much to have you make some place cards for the Wedding Brunch - I just think it would be special to have them. I'll help when I get there if you want me to - they don't have to be fancy - just something so there won't be a lot of confusion in getting everyone seated.
Bob- I ran into the Cohens at the grocery store yesterday - we always visit and talk about Jerry (their son) and Roy because they are the same age and have gone through school together - anyway, I told him you were going into Podiatry and he was so nice - said he would love to talk to you about it when you come for a visit - they live in Leawood now - he is one of three podiatrists in the Little Rock, No. Little Rock area. He said San Francisco had an excellent school - I told him we discouraged your going to Chicago because of the crime rate and be laughed - that was the school he went to. I also met a girl in Russellville this morning who is from San Francisco and she said there were several young men in her ward who were going to that school. She said she hoped you expected to pay a lot for rent - ugh!!!!
The Gonces had a party for the Richards last night and it was really nice - we all took food and it was all delicious - They gave their farewell talks tonight and they're ready to leave but it is always hard to say goodbye. We finished their quilt and it is beautiful and also their photo album with pictures of all the Ward members - they loved them.
Roy really loves his job- we hope it won't be too hard for him to get off - Johnny keeps telling him that he has to miss Scout camp so he can miss work - but they both want to and are thrilled for the excuse. WE love you all so very much and will see you soon.
