Dearest Ann & Ron, Jean & Rick, Bib and Roy,

It's Sunday evening and the missionaries just left - we had them come for dinner - Daddy cooked steaks and they were so good and then we had baked potatoes, creamed peas, fruit salad, homemade bread and strawberry shortcake - they really loved it. This group of missionaries is very special - Elder Workman is from Buhl, Idaho (Sp.?) and he knows the Woolleys in Jerome - he just lives by the Snake River and watched Evel Kneivel jump from his rooftop, he said a lot of people came there after church with a sack lunch and stayed to watch the jump. Elder Harris is from Logan but his grandparents are from Brigham City and his grandfather was my class father in High School. Elder Wooden is from California and is a very serious but super person. Elder Cooper is from Idaho Falls and is really nice too. They have been here quite a bit lately for different reasons and we wanted to have them for dinner.

This has been a lost week!!!!! I told you that Karen Wood and her little girl were going to come to look for a place to stay. I got Chris Jordin to meet them at the airport Monday night because we were in Houston - I called Monday night but noon answered and so I called Chris and she wasn't home but Mare said that Karen had gone out with friends. I didn't even worry about them because the other doctor who is going to take the fellowship with Jim lives close by and I thought they would be together. Well, as it happened - Karen couldn't get out microwave oven to work and she wanted to fix some hot dogs so she went over to Pete and Rappha and asked them to take her to McDonalds. Pete came back in with her after they got back and she said everything was fine. Tuesday morning Karen became ill so she called Pete and asked her to come over - she did and then her other friend came too - Pete and Ralph took take of Carolyn, the little girl, and Karen went to bed with some medicine. After she had been asleep about four hours Pete became concerned and came over to wake her up - then she told Pete she was epileptic and was worried about the way she felt - so they called the doctor- he came over and while he was taking her blood pressure she had two seizures - he hurried and put her in his ear and later he told me she had nine seizures on the way to the hospital. Pete and Ralph kept Carolyn. Well, fortunately we decided to come home early and got in about nine-thirty Tuesday night - Ralph met us outside and told us about everything. We put Carolyn to bed in John's room and I went to the hospital - she was in intensive care and still have seizures - they couldn't get them under control even with massive doses of Phenobarbital. They called Jim and he made arrangements to come get her - he got here Thursday night and they went back home on Friday - we were quite surprised they let her leave the hospital but they did - she looked terrible and I have really worried about her. We are to find them a place to stay and they'll move here June 30th. I wish to much that I would have known she had this problem and I would never have gone to Houston - I didn't really need to go!!! She's very frail.

We had a fun time in Houston - ate lots of seafood and just goofed off - Johnny and I found a really neat shopping center "The Galleria" and we didn't leave - they have a big ice skating rink in the middle of it and all kinds of stores. Our car gave us a little trouble - it has had a funny sound in the back left tire ever since we bought it and Daddy has tried to get them to fix it but they kept insisting it was just the tires. It really got bad so we took it to the Toyota place in Houston and found it was a bad wheel bearing - it didn't take long to fix it. We went to Lake Charles Monday night and John went "Crabbing" on the lake Tuesday morning - he had bought a crab net and really had fun - caught about two dozen crabs but we talked him into letting them go because we knew they would die before we could get them home. We went to Paw Paws and had crayfish - they were delicious. We left Lake Charles about 2:30 Tuesday afternoon.

Ralph took care of our puppies for us - they grew so fast that he had to build a barricade in the garage. We put the ad in the paper Friday and so far we have sold four - Johnny wanted to charge $125 for them but Daddy and I didn't think they would sell but when we took them to the Vet on Friday for their puppy shots he said they were worth that much so that's what we have sold them for - people don't even bat an eye!!!! They are beautiful puppies though and we have saved the best one for you, Ann and Ron and we are so thrilled that you wanted one - you know me, I would like to keep one out of each litter and it will be so fun to be able to see how it turns out - this is the one Dr. Misak said was the best to Robert just came over so I went up to visit with him - he looks so big and older and than when he was here at Christmas time. He's going to North Carolina to work for the Summer - his sister and her husband have moved there so he'll live with them. He plans to go back to University of Arkansas next year - he's changed his major to landscape architecture or something like that. He said you might go see him on your way coming home Roy - hope you can but if you're still planning to be in the Prothro wedding you're going to have to hurry home. He said he had talked to you this week and that you're fine.

Bob - you just called and it was fun to talk to you. Your plans to fly to California for an interview for Podiatry school sound good - we'd love to have you closer in Chicago but that is really a dangerous city. We are just amazed at all the training you're receiving in the hospital - that is really great. Your garden sounds fun - we can hardly wait to see it - we had a letter from Dolores Clegg and she said they had been to help you and they're so impressed with you. We're so happy you and Jean & Rick and Ann & Ron could be together today - I'll bet you had fun. We promise to send you John and Daddy's tux measurements with this letter and we hope Roy has sent you his.

Ann & Ron - it was fun to talk to you too - you sound busy and happy - we're glad you had a good trip Ron and that you're home safe and sound. We can't believe you have had so much snow the past few days - how's is your garden?

Roy - we'll be so happy to have you home again - it will be a different Summer - so many of your friends will be gone. Robert told us that Rick Martin is going to spend a lot of time in California with his brother. Would you like to go to Utah? Johnny is surely anxious for you to be home - he's board with Daddy and I.

Jean & Rick - Bob said you were no happy about your house plans and that's great. Marilyn said she thinks her brother lives in that area - he and his wife have two sets of twins - at one time they had four children under the age of two. She will be in Utah in June so maybe you'll get to see her - their little girl is so cute.

Last night was Seminary graduation and Daddy had to talk and present the graduates their diplomas - he really did a wonderful job. After that we went to the Sondrups for a going away party for the Zimmermans - they're going back to Utah and will leave this Tuesday - he will teach in the Chemistry department in BYU -Biochemistry, I believe. His family lives in Lehi so he may come see you Bob.

Wednesday night we had the "Freedom Singers" from Ricks College put on a program. It was really, really good - not exceptional talent but very well presented - the gym at the State Center completely full. We hadn't planned for anyone to stay with us because I knew the Woods would be here and I was glad I hadn't - they had enough places to stay without us.

We're going to buy a new car - we're trading our little red Toyota in on a four door sedan Toyota. We have twenty-five thousand miles on our car and we decided it was best to trade it in - the new one will be silver and have 5 speed - it is really hard to get in the back seat of the little lift back and we plan to take it out to Utah for the wedding and also to Washington to the Temple and we'll enjoy the four doors. I think it will look a lot like your car Roy.

We hope Claire will send us a card from London - it was neat that she called you Bob - could you hear her good? Her wedding dress sound so nice - I'll start looking for a light blue one - may be I'll make it.

I'll close for now - it's so late I may not take this downtown to mail. We surely do love each of you and hope you're all doing fine - PLEASE BE CAREFUL!!!!!
