Saturday Night

Dearest Ann & Ron, Jean & Rick, Bob and Roy,
This will just be a one pager - Daddy and John are already in bed and I expect Daddy to be calling me any minute. We are going to Houston tomorrow and then to Lake Charles Tuesday and then home that night - we plan to leave early in the morning but I'm not packed yet - life is just moving too fast for me!!!!
We left yesterday afternoon and took our trailer to Heber Springs - it was our Ward outing along with Little Rock II - there weren't very many from our Ward - we don't have many families with camping equipment - there were quite a few from the other Ward. Bishop Gonce pulled Daddy's little fishing boat so Daddy and I went fishing early this morning - we didn't even have a nibble. Keith Jones and Shawn Aday were camped right next to us and they didn't even have a tent - just sleeping bags - it rained most of the night and I lay awake worrying about them but didn't ever get up to have them come in with us - I believe they finally got into Keith's Volkswagen - they left early this morning. We were really comfortable but slot of people got wet. Johnny took your mini-bike Roy and he was really "King of the Camp"- he took every little child there on a ride - Eric Gonce was so thrilled and so were the rest of the kids.
Bob - we were so thrilled to receive the copy of the announcements the Ezells will send out - they are absolutely beautiful!!!! They are the first ones I have ever seen in color and we really love them and the picture is good of both of you. We have thought about you so much - starting a new job and everything is really quite an experience and we hope so much that everything works out for you - it sounds as if you are happy with Aunt Marvel's home and we're happy about that. Thanks so much for having the BYU send us that "Trip Brochure"- they really offer some wonderful trips and we hope to go on some of them someday. I was happy to get that picture of Lela and I with Aunt Marvel - do you realize that was taken forty years ago? We're getting so excited for the wedding.
Jeanie - what a thrill to get a long and newsy letter from you. Your plans to build a new home in Layton sound just super and we think you made a very wise decision. We hope you'll be able to qualify for the program you told us about - it would be a good idea for you to have them do as much to the home as is possible - like extra plumbing and extra electrical outlets and cement
pouring - while it is in the building stage - those things are always so much more expensive afterwards. It will be so much fun for you to pick out your own colors and everything!!!! Rick - your Scout Court of Honor sounded just wonderful and we're very proud of you for that - that's thankless job right now but those boys and their parents will be eternally grateful.
Annie - it was so much fun to talk to you - we can tell you are concerned about your pregnancy - I'm sure I would be too after having one miscarriage - we will be praying that everything goes well. On our camping trip we were with Carla Culwell Pearce some and she is expecting in July and she picks up her other two children and carries them on her shoulders and it doesn't seem to bother her one single bit. Some people have so much trouble and others don't have any and I don't have the answer. I would love to see your hair - I thought you weren't going to have it frosted anymore. We hope Ron gets home safe and sound and that his trip was a good one.
Roy - are you still there???? Johnny has tried to call you several times - you're never home - he has been offered quite
a bit of money for that mini-bike you bought last Summer - we don't think he or you should sell it - it is so much fun on camping trips. We surely hope your tests were okay - I guess you're preparing for some more by now - we know you will really be happy to have them over and get home for a Happy Summer - we will really be happy to have your here. Your U. of A. friends will be through after this next week - we hope they'll come see us.
Karen Wood and her little three year old daughter are coming on Monday to stay with us for about ten days while they look for a place to stay - I don't know why it will take that long. We won't be here so Chris Jordin is going to pick them up at the airport and bring them here and then we'll be here Tuesday night.
Here I am on the second page - I had more to tell you than I thought.
Ralph is going to take care of our dogs while we're gone - Winky and Daisy have practically abandoned their little puppies so they have to be fed three times a day. They are the cutest little puppies - we'll start selling them after next week. Daddy got some new clippers and he groomed Hans tonight and he is really a handsome dog.
I forgot to thank you Ann for your long letter - we loved it. Your plans for a freezer to hold your vegetables that you're going to grow this Summer are great - I paid 506 a piece for tomatoes this week-end and that made me realize how important a garden really is. It's wonderful that Ron's parents have such good beef - you're spoiled!!
Aunt Carol wants to start a family cookbook so if you have any really neat recipes would you please send them to her.
We surely hope Claire will drop us a line from London - I'll bet you're lonely without her Bob - how long will she be gone.
We love each one of you so very much and hope you're doing great - please let us know if you need anything and BE CAREFUL IN EVERYTHING YOU DO.
P.S. Our New Mission President has five daughters - his picture was in the last Church News - he looks very young. The
Doxeys are going to Spain to head that Mission.
