Dearest Ann & Ron, Jean & Rick, Bob and Roy,
Wow!!! Our house is much too quiet. Bob left Monday morning, Roy and Daddy left Wednesday morning and Johnny started school Wednesday and I about went crazy - not really, because I was so busy. I went to Relief Society Wednesday morning and then met the Sister Missionaries and went with them to teach a young man - it was so much fun and I learned more than he did. Anyway, I didn't hit the house until Thursday and that took all day and the Daddy came home Friday. (this is our newest typewriter and you just look at the keys and they!!!!)
We had a wonderful holiday and appreciate so much all you did to make it special for us. We loved having Claire with us Bob - she was a perfect house guest and I just hope she didn't work too hard. We feel so bad about the tire trouble you had just out of Fort Smith - too bad it couldn't have happened before you left Little Rock if it had to happen. Did you enjoy staying with her friends in Norman, Oklahoma?
Roy - Daddy said you ate one and one-half sandwiches all way. We could tell you were all tied up in knots before you left - I can just imagine how hard it is to have finals staring you in the face when you get back from a long vacation - we hope so much you'll be able to get all caught up and do well in your classes an we're sure you will. Daddy says the Physical Chemistry class you're scheduled to take next Semester is the hardest class he ever had to take so I guess you'll be studying hard for a long, long time.
Speaking of finals - Bob we think it's just super you made only one B for last Semester and to have the highest grade in the class in the final exam in Genetics is really great. You have really learned how to study. I have heard that David is in troubled in school -Chris has a friend who is one of the members of the Review Board and I guess he might even be on probation. He has surely been under a lot of pressure thought and I'm sure they'll take that into consideration.
Annie - thank you so much for calling - I know we talked too long. I'm sure going to call you one night soon when it's 11 our time and only 10 your time so we can visit.
Jeannie - thank you so much for your long wonderful letter - I have read it a thousand times. We loved your pictures too and that coat looks gorgeous - Rick you look good too!!!
I was so excited to go get our Christmas pictures so I could send you some - they were all blank!!!!! I don't even talk about it any more but before another important event comes up I'm going to by me an Instamatic and not let Daddy advise me anymore about taking pictures I believe the roll was in wrong and it didn't wind properly - do you remember taking it out for us Bob and you took it out in the dark because something was wrong? Only nine of your pictures were good Roy but some of the ones that were are just spectacular - you must have taken some in caves - the scenery is really something. I'm going to wait until tomorrow to send them so they can weigh them for meat the Post Office and you'll be sure to get them- the slide you had enlarged is wonderful but I wish you had had it made into an 8 X 10 - it's one of Roy water skiing and his friend took it with a telescopic (sp.?)
lens and it's excellent we'll keep the slide here and if you want it let us know.
Johnny went to Cotillion last night and then afterwards Dan Curry invited him to play at his house - Dan got one of those television games that has different tapes and you can play about 100 games on it - anyway, he stayed until about midnight and then Mr. Curry and Dan walked home with him. I really hate for Johnny to start staying out so late!!!! Johnny is a hard one to keep in tow - he had to be entertained constantly. He and Daddy left early yesterday morning and went rabbit hunting -they didn't get back until about 3 in the afternoon. They really had fun and got two rabbits and we had them for dinner last night and really they were delicious Wayne Smith had told us to soak them vinegar water so Daddy did.
Did you hear about the tornadoes we had in Arkansas last night - fifty trailer homes were destroyed and one person killed in Wynne, Ark. Our weather has been crazy - snow
flurries this morning and spring weather this afternoon - typically Arkansas. We surely do love you all.
